If you're in the vicinity, don't miss this fantastic, small city, dramatically set high above a beautiful valley and dominated by a castle. The murals are justly famous and were of far higher quality than we could have guessed. We spent about 90 minutes taking them in and could easily have spent more time. Dozza is a little tricky to reach from Bologna (two buses), but we had no trouble getting there by taking the train to Imola (some five km away) and then taking a brief taxi ride (taxis are available at the Imola railway station). Added bonus: the castle contains the official wine store and tasting room of the Region of Emilia-Romagna, with more than 800 bottles to choose from and many gourmet products besides.

What a beautiful little down. We really enjoyed taking the little walking loop around the town and looking all the murals.

I just found it by accident while
Looking for vineyards near Bologna. This is. Beautiful village with murals painted all over the walls with a castle at one end. They have very quaint stores , cares and even a nice restaurant. In my opinion it is a must visit destination. You only need a few hours to do it well.

A perfect half-day trip, about 40 minutes from Bologna. A little know gem to tourists. Dozza is a tiny town but very nice, peaceful and feels very clean. The people in the various shops we went into were very friendly. But the murals are so beautiful, clever and the cover nearly all the walls of the town. We loved this place!
P.S. it's rather hilly so it might be a little strenuous for older people, those with disabilities, etc, but you can drive through it in the car and see everything very easily.

For painters, a real delight this village, with magic paintings on so much facades, and also the colorful ochre colors the shade of red, yellow, rosa; many work to reneval so often as it's necessary; for locals and foreigns, for me, so lovely to contemplate.

On a spring day, the air in the field is so fresh and rewarding, you should take a step back from the madding crowds and do yourself a favour. Visit Dozza. You'll never forget, nor regret. And it's only a 40 km drive from Bologna. The castle-town is small but the walk is magical. In fact, it is onl a ordinary human settlement but the faces of the houses are all covered in artistic designs. Some are really stunning, others average. Yet put together, they remind you of another life possible on this planet.
Park your car at the entrance and walk. It is nothing serious, but a mere 5 minutes to the castle. Once on the square, facing the tower, take the right street to walk further down to the greenery. Trust me, you'll enjoy it.

All Dozza village is full of murals. I suppose that it was a quiz for painting them. Some ones are very good and integrated into the environment, others better that they weren't painted.

Not only was the town picture perfect you have the added pleasure of seeing many different artist work on the walls of the city. We had a very nice and lovely time viewing the walls of Dozza. Only 40 minutes from Bologna this is a must see. Enjoy lunch at Ristorante Cane' with its beautiful view and flowers.

If the town wasn't good enough with the fortification and a great restaurant opposite it also has a rich and diverse selection of street art which is something that should not be missed if you are anywhere near Dozza.
