Huge temple grounds.
sep 2019.
This is an absolutely not-to-miss temple.
The distance from the local bus stop to the temple is quite far,
so it would be best to have motorized transportation to the temple.
There are many, many steps, and this temple is absolutely NOT
wheelchair accessible.
A unique feature here is that one can go underneath the altar area,
and touch the hand of a Buddha. However, this area is pitch-black
dark, and there are no handrails to hold on to. I had to ask a temple
assistant to lead me through this area,

Great Country Temple
jan 2017. • Prijatelji
This is a magnificent temple in tucked away in the mountains. There's a small street the lines the way to the temple with restaurants specializing in local cuisine and fruit stalls--from fancy/slightly tourists places, to very small, mom and pop types. The temple itself is surrounded by smaller temples and the grounds/housing for the monks.

The roofs are covered in moss and at the top of the steps there are beautiful views. Really worth the drive if you have the chance. Please note, lots of steps--not idea for mobility bound, but take your time, it's worth it!

Touch the Real Japanese Belief
apr 2016. • Samostalno
Not a fabulous place in the deep Gifu, but you can see people with real religious belief and beautiful landscape scenes, there.
Also, you can try the Kaidan Meguri, a underground self guided tour of the basement of the main sanctuary. The rule is, grope your way forward to find (touch) a lock of the cell or room in the middle of the hallway, in the darkness for the prayer answered. I mean in the darkness, a complete darkness. Imagine what happened to you if the Duomo in Milan would provide the same tour in the complete darkness….
