We were staying in Agrigento and went for a drive to small towns in the area. In Favra we saw the sign to the Castello. When we went in we met a young lady who spoke no English and paid the entrance fee. 2 euros each. We thought it was a self guided tour but the young lady went with us and what followed was typical of the pleasant experiences we have had with the Sicilian people. We had no Italian she had no English but as we went through using pantomime and words that had similar sounds or meanings, we had a most enjoyable tour and were shown details of the structure's architecture and history that we may not have learned with another tour guide. We had several laughs as we realized that we could understand each other with no language skills and it was one of our better tour experiences.

The cost of this attraction is reasonable. 2 euros per person to see a building that is being preserved is great and if the money is being channeled into ensuring remains there for others to see is wonderful. It was interesting to see the additions over the centuries.

A restored Norman Castle - well more a fortified house on a corner of the main square in Favara

It is a bit difficult to get into. The functionarios, who man the ticket office, really do not want to be found. Eventually I found 3 of them in a darkened office, with bad grace they sold me the (cheap) admission tickets,. Then one of them had to climb the stairs and unlock the rooms for us to go into.

It has cost the state quite a lot of money to restore the castle, and their efforts make a visit worthwhile

We were greeted by a parishioner and given an introduction to the church, with the lady explaining things to us about the different statues etc. Church is gorgeous.
