Went for a comedy night, went upstairs for a drink before the show and it smelled of puke and looked like someone got a discount on a multi buy of disco lights while they pumped out what ever modern hiphop/rnb is the latest trend to the handful of customers, I think so that it could be heard on the street to try and draw people in. The drinks price appeared to be driven by the location not the quality of the venue.
Once downstairs things got quieter but sadly worse, the comedy was good but the entire place smelled like someone had thrown up the night before and they had not bothered to clean it up, it was so bad it actually put me off my drink, on top of this we were squashed in like cattle onto crappy folding chairs I had more space on the tube getting there and back than I did at the show.
Wouldnt recommend to anyone except as some kind of vicious practical joke!!

Dear Ricky,
We are very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your night out at Ruby Blue. We can only apologise about the smell at the venue, the venue management team have ensured us that this will be sorted ASAP.
We are not responsible for the actual site as we only use this venue for our comedy shows, however as a comedy promoter we do run shows in many other locations in the West End, so if you enjoyed the comedy and the quality of our acts, we'd encourage you to visit a different location next time.
Once again, thank you for your comments.

The Arboretum is like a temporary venue - uncomfortable church hall style fold up plastic seating, church hall type bar with bottled drinks in fridges (small Peroni £5, 175 ml wine £6). Unpleasantly overheated venue. No air conditioning or ventilation - nasty. For £22 you get three comedians each doing 30 minutes, and two 10 minute intervals. Worth avoiding.

MC and 3 comedians great though close to the mark a couple of times, Terrorism and Diana's death off limits and the audience made this clear,
Seating not comfortable and lay out impractical. Artists cramped on make shift stage.
Acts worth the ticket price but cancelled out but ridiculous drinks prices.

MC was very good, first act was good and others were okay, but the biggest let down was the venue. It seemed to be some kind of office building - the room was very brightly lit throughout the night and the seats were uncomfortable. The bar looked very makeshift, there were no cocktails and a limited selection of other drinks - ended up paying £12 for a vodka lemonade with no ice! Wouldn’t return without knowing the venue beforehand.

The customer services, management and security of this place is awful. despite called 99 club, they are not in 99 club, that’s another location 5-10 minute walk away
I arrived after booking days in advance, no spare seats, so had to stand at the back, where I could not see
Had one beer which was warm as staff did not put in fridge
My friend got lost and upset, as she didn’t know london very well and went to the 99 club, which they are not located at, I went to find my friend, so I could bring her to the right location. Security wouldn’t let me leave, I told them the situation and was told if I left, I could not come back in, I had to leave to find my friend - Please remember I was at the back standing and no comedians were on stage at the time
I had to leave, i sent an email complaining straight away, so they could see I had left during performance times
Over a week later, they have refused to refund me or even offer like for like tickets
My advise is to avoid this place and go to other comedy clubs!!!

The venue was the poorest comedy club I’d been to, very temporary with uncomfortable seating that was crammed in. The music playing prior to the performances and in the interval was awful and excessively loud. None of the acts on the night were those I’d booked to see. At time of booking I was led to believe that we’d see some comedians we’d heard of and seen on TV. The acts who were presented were not famous and, in my opinion, never likely to be. I considered this to be a complete mis sell on the clubs part and if I’d known what we were getting we wouldn’t have gone. It was so poor we left half way through the second act, a guy who made it for not being funny by shouting his act out, we’ve never left any club prior to this. I couldn’t recommend 99comedy club to anyone, it was not a good experience.

We attended one of your shows tonight. We got to the location advertised and was told the comedy event had moved and they gave us very few directions to where it was located. We called 3 times and were given limited directions and was not told it was in a restaurant which would of been easier for us to find.
When we did arrive there was a long queue at the bar and only one bar staff knew how to make cocktails which a lot of people were ordering. The bar staff did not have knowledge of some of the drinks menu and had to be told by another colleague what I wanted.
The room for the comedy was too small for the crowd that attended and was very tightly packed in. You could text a number to order more drinks at the interval but they did not have one of the drinks that was ordered.
The only good thing was the compare and comedians were hilarious.

I was expecting tables and chairs. Instead there were rows of seats squished together in a cramped space. There was confusion over where you could sit. The plastic seats had cards reserved on them, and we had to find empty seats which were dotted around. It would make sense to put unreserved seats at the end of an aisle or all in one row. The female toilets were grim, with no toilet paper and plastic small bags littered across the floor. I felt sorry for the comedians as people heckled, and talked throughout, despite being told not to. I heard the female comedian being called a slag which is not acceptable. I don’t think large groups should be permitted. The line up was different and I understand things change. It’s my first and last comedy experience. The place is grotty looking with sticky floors. I don’t appreciate being asked to have green highlighter on my hand. Surely you can just check my name off the list. Comedians were good.

The comedy was great BUT do not eat there. The food came inedible. Top half overcooked and the bottom completely undercooked. This was the case for most of the tables.
We sent the food back and asked for it to be replaced only to be presented with another undercooked bottom half but the top half cut off.
They were unable to provide any alternative. We asked if they had bread rolls at least as we were hungry and they were unable to even provide this. We ended up eating the sides that lacked any seasoning but at least was edible.
When requesting a refund on the food we were unable to eat we were offered two midweek tickets at half the value. They advised that they cannot take responsibility of the food as they outsource the catering!!!
Still requesting compensation. Lets see if they can take some responsibility.
If you want to see some comedy its great but do not under any circumstances eat there. So many of the other tables complained about the food. Most of the xmas partys left dissappointed.

Comedy wasn't bad but the venue is awful - we were in The Arboretum venue which seems to be an off-shoot of the original venue, We were packed in with barely any room to sit - very cramped and claustrophic especially for the men in our group who are tall. This was obviously to get more people in to make more money, but the visitor experience is massively compromised as a result. There are too few toilets so huge queues during intervals, of which there were two, each after about 20 minutes. This was unnecessary and presumably also to make more money, by getting people to the bar more. The selection of drinks at the bar was

Hi on some reviews it mentions that drinks are very expensive but others say there is happy hour before the show , is this only on certain evenings ?
Thanks x

Hi . We have only been there once, but I think the drink menu was standard. The staff did come round reminding you the drinks were going up in price after 'happy hour' which seemed pretty fare. They were expensive, but it is the middle of London. Hope this helps. Stephen

What a great evening!!! Absolutely recommend going, we went to Ruby Blues for my husbands birthday. They kindly reserved us front row seats.
The compare was Matt Green who was very funny! And the comedians were Ellie Taylor, Spencer Brown, James Acaster (sorry if I have this name wrong) but you all get the message.. they were all different and very funny!!
Not an expensive night out either for Leicester Square. So all in all a win win!!
So thank you 99 club Ruby Blues 10/10 x

Are seats reserved or do you just sit where you want to ? Thank you.

You can reserve seats for an extra few pounds. We reserved seats and got the best seats in the house, I would recommend paying the extra. It's an intimate venue, the seats are more in a semi circle around the stage than straight back, if you happened to be on the end it might be a bit uncomfortable.
