The most welcoming theatre I've visited
I've been to seven West End theatres so far, and none have been quite as wonderful as the Wyndham's. The front of house staff were the most helpful and friendly ushers i've ever come across, and were going out of their way to help in any way they could. This created such a lovely, welcoming atmosphere that I genuinely have never felt in a theatre before, and made the entire show experience even more enjoyable. That's also not mentioning how gorgeous the theatre itself is, which is both stunning to look at and has near perfect sightlines with very few bad seats. I genuinely can't stress how much I enjoyed visiting the Wyndham's and I'd quite honestly return regardless of the show, just for the sake of visiting such a lovely place!! I hope the front of house staff know how much they're appreciated :)

    Louis XIV interior.
A smallish stylish theatre in the style of Louis xiv. Staff polite and friendly. Seats in Royal Circle very steeply raked so all would have a good view of the stage. Next door to Leicester Square Station so very easy to find. Lots of places nearby for a coffee/tea.

    Incredible performance of Oklahoma
I was prompted to write a review not so much of the theatre itself but of the production of Oklahoma that we saw there last night. I felt it important to give a counterpoint to the poor reviews on here. It’s obvious that the people who wrote them are traditionalists, and yes, if you love the film version you probably won’t love this. However if you love theatre then this is a production you won’t want to miss. Inventive, shocking, sexy, joyous and tragic by turns, the singing was wonderful, and Patrick Vaill as Jud Fry was quite simply astonishing. We came out feeling a bit dazed (in a good way) and just overwhelmed by how exceptionally good it was. The theatre itself is lovely - not too big, and our seats in row B of the stalls were good.

    Unusual and well worth seeing
Oklahoma in 2023, rousing songs, fantastic voices from all the cast but particularly George Maddison who as an understudy blew me away. Slightly disappointed with the set but the show in general was excellent. Casting was spot on and yes we were thrown by the blackouts and the very unusual use of camera and live screening but all in all it’s good to see new things making their way into our theatres.

    Oklahoma at the Wyndham’s
Recently went to watch the revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! - enjoyed the modern take on the musical and thought it worked really well with a bluegrass/ country music vibe orchestration. Theatre is beautiful and in a great location right next to Leicester Square station or a short walk from Covent Garden station if none of these are suitable it’s still walking distance from Charing Cross. Not the greatest amount of legroom in the seats but still very comfortable from my experience! A great evening!

    King Lear
This is a pleasant theatre and in the Grand Circle the view of the whole stage was good and quite intimate. Seats were comfortable with average leg room although the seat pad was rather low. Other guests passing us before the performance began was annoying as there was little support to prevent you being pushed over into the row behind. There were 2 or 3 bars where service was fast. King Lear itself was well acted and choreographed but seems to be missing gusto and feeling. However the theatre was full so others may have a different perception. I should add that the entrance is next to Piccadilly underground which is convenient especially innate weather. Also there are plenty of restaurants in Chinatown opposite.

    Turn the volume up!
Up in the grand circle, just miss the top of the set. Plus point: Seats steeply raked so no obstruction from anyone in front. Note to all sound technicians: please turn up the volume for us folk up in the high point of the theatre.

    Grand old theatre ...
This place very much retains it's original character ... the internal decoration is stunning. We were 4 rows from the front and it felt like we were part of the stage action. Toilet provision is sparse presumably because of the restrictions of the old building. The front of house team was friendly.

All good bar one little thing.
Great theatre, excellent seats. Overall a great experience minus one thing. The theatre is like so many other establishments and gone cashless. Fortunately many of said establishments are changing back. I hope that this theatre is one of them.

The Unfriend and the theatre - brilliant evening
We visited Wyndhams for the first time ever, even though we are regular theatregoers and have been for over 30 years. We were a bit apprehensive about the wheelchair space, having read a bad review about it, but it was excellent. We had a great view, the seats were great. There was a toilet in the box, which can only be accessed by those in the box. Our Access Host Elise was excellent, checked on us at least twice. She also arranged for drinks and programmes to be delivered to us. We look forward to our next trip to this theatre and the very special little box.

We recently bought tickets to see the black comedy “The Unfriend” with Lee Mack(whom I find very entertaining) Frances Barber & Sarah Alexander I can honestly say this is the worst theatre production I have ever attended The laughs were few & far between - it was diabolical!!!! My husband & I were going to leave after the first act but hoped it would improve in the second but unfortunately it did not I truly felt embarrassed for the talented cast (who could not save this show even with their faultless performance ) In my opinion I would NOT RECOMMEND this production Very disappointed Save your money !!!

We had really looked forward to this, but sadly it failed on a number of levels. Dreadful set, no dancing to speak of and fairly bad singing from most of the cast unless they were performing together made it disappointing. The worst part was the absolutely horrendous lighting where the audience were placed under floodlights for hours that burned your eyes as well as your skin!! It irritated and distracted from any kind of performance aspect. The characters had a grubby redneck feel that was impossible to get past, and the production was self indulgent, too long and ultimately ugly. The musicians were extremely talented but it was a shame that the music was interpreted in such a whining country and western way. Overall, it was clear that the director's arrogance and “vision" were far more important than audience pleasure. It is one thing to challenge audience perception, but quite another to disregard them. Daniel Fish should understand that theatre ceases to exist without audiences, and glowing reviews from critics in the end mean far less than the opinion of those with their bums on seats. I would rather have spent £88 on a different production.

This performance was awesome with the characters easily listened to and with an engaging storyline. The puppetry was fantastic and the whole experience was incredible I particularly enjoyed the leading character of Pi in this show. All the characters were easy to listen to and the actors and actresses performed with vigour and enthusiasm. A truly wonderful theatre experience.

As musical fans my wife and I were looking forward to this new production of Oklahoma! at the fabulous Wyndham Theatre in Charing Cross Road. Following an early pre show lunch in Leicester Square we made our way to the theatre. We had great seats in the stalls area and we sat down in the bright 'floodlit' auditorium. We expected the extremely bright house lights to be extinguished once the performance began, however, this was NOT the case and the lights remained ON throughout the whole performance, with the exception of two total blackouts! The severe brightness of the lights on the audience was a major distraction in viewing the performers on stage. The show itself was very different to what we were expecting. The musicians were good, the acting and singing was generally fine and at least it followed the original script, but the lack of set dressing, modern themes including the two total blackouts and a modern 'completely out of context' dance routine just didn't work. We left the auditorium saying the same as many others around us - that was two hours we wouldn't get back! So to cheer us up we watched the 1955 Oklahoma! DVD when we returned home starring Gordon MacRae and Shirley Jones - now that's a proper musical version! Message to the Director - Turn The Auditorium Lights Off!

Lovely theatre. Currently showing The Unfriend. We love Lee Mack. And a good English farce. But oh dear, what a painful waste of money. We barely cracked a laugh. Don't go! For far less money you can see some great stand up comedy. Purile.

Well what can i say but incredible and such a beautiful place to be in. The staff running front of house, ticketing and all the way through are a real credit to the owners Delfont Mackintosh. Its a bedazzling and magical show with a cast of such talent others should be jealous. Its an absolute must see show. Bravo!

What a talented cast! Extremely drawn into the storyline as soon as the cast came on. Very magical and creative. I literally can not fault the experience. The sound was spot on, lighting was beautifully executed and the puppetry was sensational. Great actors and actresses who really know their knowledge and spent years in their trade to perfect their skills. Very well done!

The staff at the Wyndhams Theatre were polite and well organised and didn't make you feel like just a number so it made the experience even better.

Thank you and I certainty recommend this production. Very well put together :).

First of all, this is a beautiful theatre and strategically placed less than 1 full minute walk away from Leicester Square station. Easy to find indeed.
I have been twice to see the brilliant Life of Pi. The first outing was with a friend who had been given 4 free tickets, with great stalls seats. The 2 young boys loved the show. After the first half, a woman & her son showed us her tickets & stated we were in their seats. We moved to the other seats & watched the second half. Why did staff not alert us to this? There are plenty of staff, but nobody is really checking where you are seated. Us having to change our seats and move to a completely different part of the theatre could have been avoided if staff had assisted/ directed us. That is their job surely?
Yesterday, I took my mother who was visiting to see the show. I booked Grand Circle seats as that was the budget: £47 pp. It was up at least 6 flights of stairs which were really tricky for my mother and every other person that joined our area, arrived huffing and puffing. So ofcourse, not many went downstairs for drinks during interval as they probably could not face the walk! Thankfully during interval, there was a sale of ice-cream which was great during this heatwave.
I have now checked the seating plan and realised we sat in the wrong seats. We sat in the 'Balcony' area which was really high up (my mum actually said luckily she did not get vertigo). So the staff simply ushered us to incorrect seats. I am actually really annoyed about this as there is plenty of staff greeting you warmly, but nobody really checking where you are being seated etc.

There was an entire family of 6 shouting to each other, just before the show, about seat allocation etc as they were also finding it tricky.
This should be greatly improved. Tickets should be checked and people should be directed to their correct seat. Our experience was ruined by how high up we were & I was a bit embarrassed really, as it looked like I was choosing the cheapest tickets, when in fact I hadn't! We don't always go to theatre, so we are not familiar with the layout / floor plan etc. Staff should be there to direct and assist.
It costs a fortune, surely they can employ staff to get you to your correct seat?
