- az2580Chicago, Illinois143 contributionsWould give this a 4.5 if I could!Loved seeing this historic show in the West End! The theater is charming and the show seems to be exactly as it was in its original day. Great acting, fun who-dun-it storyline and great way to spend an evening!Visited March 2023Traveled with familyWritten March 28, 2023
- Catherine BLondon, United Kingdom97 contributionsWho done it?Lovely old theatre, great production with plenty of red herrings and an unexpected twist. Excellent seats, orchestral stalls, row G, seats 21 & 22 with plenty of leg room. Go and see it, you won’t be disappointed.Visited April 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten April 7, 2023
- CJP35Newcastle, United Kingdom33 contributionsClassic and gleeful entertainmentAn energetic and vivacious performance by the cast. Beautiful and intimate theatre (but enough leg room). I only booked the ticket the night before, and it was a packed house, so despite the play having a 70+ year run, it would seem it's not just me who was yet to see it! The ticket was a little on the pricey side, as were the drinks (although I appreciate the theatre needs to turn a profit), hence the 4* but post CV19, I'm delighted and relieved the West End is thriving again. Congratulations and thank you to the cast and crew for tonight, I was gleefully entertained.Visited April 2023Traveled soloWritten April 17, 2023
- Divya KSingapore178 contributionsLovelyOur first experience of watching a play . It was brilliant. My 11 year old throughly enjoyed the murder mystery and gave a go at cracking it herself . Acting was fantastic . Theatre (St Martin’s theatre , London) was a bit cramped , I guess coz it’s quiet old . But quiet lovely . We went in Friday evening show , we had purchased the tickets before hand which was good as it was sold out on that dayVisited June 2023Traveled with familyWritten June 28, 2023
- mhdghHertfordshire, United Kingdom94 contributionsAmazing show and brilliant cast!Absolutely fantastic show! The cast were amazing 👏 It was quite hot in the theatre as it was about 30 degrees that day but the doors and windows were open during the interval so it was more comfortable during the second half. Would highly recommend and so pleased we finally got around to seeing it!Visited June 2023Traveled with friendsWritten June 28, 2023
- RetiredandreadyAustin, Texas42 contributionsWatch “See How They Run” firstWe watched the film “See How They Run” and had to see this play at the beautiful St. Martin’s Theater. The staff was friendly and efficient and the actors were amazing. We had no idea a murder mystery would be so funny. This company put their hearts into the show and it made for a wonderful evening. Make sure and get one of the ice creams at intermission.Visited July 2023Traveled with familyWritten July 7, 2023
- Jennifer HMontville, New Jersey21 contributionsA fun show!A great time! Is the play outdated? Yeah, a little. But for our family of Agatha Christie, murder-mystery lovers, it was a must do while in London. And it did not disappoint! We also live near NYC, so we have gone to see other Broadway shows there, and did not feel the need to see one while in London. A fun show that we all enjoyed!Visited July 2023Written July 16, 2023

End of isle seats, row D in dress circle provided leg room and a clear, unobstructed view - recommended seats :) The theatre is so personal and old, its gorgeous and you feel part of the show. Seats were comfortable and it was a straight ward process to get in and out of the theatre, find amenities etc. If you want to know whodunit, go and see for yourself.Visited July 2023Traveled soloWritten July 27, 2023

On a recent visit to London I noticed the publicity posters for that venerable Agatha Christie play "The Mousetrap" , still being performed at the St. Martin's Theatre. It reminded me of the very poor performance that I witnessed on a previous occasion, over 12 months ago.
I had pre-booked the show online, before traveling, as I imagined that there would be full houses. There wasn't on the night and, though I hate to say so, I thought that the play was poorly performed. The actors appeared tired and the action hardly accelerated above idling speed.
Possibly I had attended a performance by a jaded cast, who had been employed too long in the play, but, it was a huge disappointment to me. I hope that , reinvigorated with a new cast and director, it may recover to carry on playing for another 60 years.

And he thought it bad too. It was terrible but in typical English fashion we stuck it out... mainly because we preordered wine for the interval! However, the bartender in the stalls bar earned the 1 star. He was great.

We went to an afternoon performance of this Agatha Christie classic which my other half had wanted to see for a good few years.
The play has been running since 1952 continuously and is the West End’s longest running show.
The theatre itself is a really beautiful fine old place inside but the seats are a little on the snug side.
I wasn’t sure if it would really be the play for me but it was very well acted, especially the guy who played Christopher Wren who was fun and very well cast for this part.
We both found it an enjoyable play.

Excellent murder mystery play and no wonder it has been running so long and set in a lovely intimate theatre. The only disappointment was in the first half the couple in front of us were nattering. The actors aren't (or didn't seem to be) "miked up" and at times it was difficult ti hear. Thankfully in the second half the noisy couple had left. Fantastic ending but obviously can't tell you who done it!

Myself and a friend booked a last minute trip to see Mousetrap. I had seen it before but loved it, it also turns out I couldn’t remember whodunnit 🤣
Such a great show with a cracking cast. I jumped and I giggled, so perfect for what I look for in a show. Attention to detail on the set was awesome! (I won’t say anymore than that, I don’t want to be a spoiler)
Our tickets were not a bad price £39 however I do feel I was short changed as I was actually unable to sit properly in my seat as it was so tight for space. I’m only 5ft5 as well so quite little! I had to sit completely sideways and have my legs in the aisle which is a bit of a safety risk!

Fantastic play. Saw this on Tuesday night. An entertaining night with a brilliant cast. Sgt Trotter was being played by the understudy, Paddy Duff who was amazing, hope to see more of this up and coming star in the future. Great fun trying to work out Who dunnit, none of us got it until the very last minute. Great seats, it is a relatively small theatre so you feel really close to the action wherever you sit. Slight annoyance that THREE times people's phones went off. Didn't spoil it for us at all, but must be really annoying for the staff. People of all ages there and obviously every one loved it. A great night.

I saw this play almost 30 years ago and decided to bring my young adult daughter to see it. The performance was fine, but frankly rather expensive for what it was. We had tickets in the stalls, row C - so very good seats whuch were close to the stage and comfortable. I had bought the tickets on the London Theatre website for £81 pp. The digital printout didn’t work, so I had to exchange it at the box office. Imagine my surprise when the face value of printed ticket was £65!! Now, I realize that the selling platform needs to make some money, but I find adding a 25% markup to be basically “highway robbery”. Both the website and the Mousetrap management should be ashamed of cheating tourists in this way.

Took my son, aged 14 and hubby over half term to watch this gem of a play. Son is studying drama for GCSEs and felt this was a suitable play for him to enjoy as we like this type of genre. We all thoroughly enjoyed the play and the actors were very engaging. I liked the theatre atmosphere as its small and cosy. Absolute classic, Agatha Christie play with that familiar battle of wits as we tried to figure out who did it... I got it wrong!
Good value ticket prices. We sat in the dress circle and had a good view. Strongly recommended.

This was a last minute booking made on Friday morning for Friday evening. The box office staff found us two great seats after some of the booking sites were incorrectly showing available ‘spacing seats’ for social distancing.
We arrived having booked our interval drinks and were shown our seats which, due to social distancing, were well spaced with no-one in front of us.
We had a great view from the dress circle and really enjoyed the show having no idea of the characters or who the guilty party was, maybe hard to believe but true ! The performance was faultless and immersive.
Our interval drinks were delivered to our seats and felt the COVID workarounds to be very effective though obviously impact revenue for the theatre; it was great to be at the theatre again supporting the performing arts.

Hi! Which seats do you recommend for tall people? I heard that the leg room is very small at certain rows. My husband is 6'1 (185 cm) and I am 5'10 (177 cm) tall. Many thanks!

I can only say we were in row B of the dress circle and found the seats ok. I'm 6' 2" and my wife is 5' 9". To be honest theatre seats generally don't have a lot of room!

I am not sure what you are asking, but the costumes are appropriate wear for the time period of the play. Generally nothing ostentatious or over the top, but vintage (or vintage look) clothing.

The Mousetrap is an Agatha Christie murder mystery......the older kids would probably follow it...not sure how younger kids would like it. There are lots of plays happening around London though. If you do decide on The Mousetrap, be sure to purchase your tickets in advance.

Coming to see evening show in June any suggestions of great nearby restaurants that would be fun to eat at? We are not picky eaters but like to go somewhere friendly and casual. We will have our 18 yr old son with us?

We had dinner at the nearby Jamie's Italian (which is really very close, a 30-second walk), but we weren't too impressed by it. We actually liked the atmosphere, but the food was just OK (I guess I reviewed it as a 3/5).
We found Jamie's Union Jacks at Covent Garden to be slightly better, but it is also a bit further away (a 5/10-minute walk, perhaps).

Yes, they sell tickets for that day's performance at the theatre, for either the front row or very far back, so check with the theatre itself what time they go on sale.

How should we dress for the evening show?

A real mix whenever we go to the theatre - lots of jeans, a few dresses/smart trousers. No one expects formal dress at the West End theatres anymore. Only exception was the ballet at ENO where jeans would have felt wrong. I love dressing up so always make an effort but it's not necessary. Having said that, I've never seen joggers at a show...

Thanks for the question about the short people; I am only 5'0".
We will be attending The Mousetrap and would like to know of a reasonable hotel or B & B nearby. Can anyone make some suggestions?
We will be returning to Halifax Nova Scotia via London, with only a couple of days to explore. We are not upscale, glitz kind of people, and really would only need something that is accessible to the Underground to get us back to Heathrow.

You might try the Tavistock Hotel near Russell Square tube on the Piccadilly line. Basic cheap and cheerful but clean rooms and good breakfast.
good luck!
