Last (Holy) Orders
sep 2020.
I miss this place! Sadly the doors have been closed for a while now. This Samuel Smith owned pub really was part of the old Abbey building. It was a great venue in the summer, supplying a pint of Chocolate Ale on the grass or a welcome cosy spot by the fire in winter after a brisk walk across Darley Abbey Park on a frosty afternoon. Hope it opens soon!

Fantastic
dec 2019.
I visited here back in 2016 with my elder sister and my Aunty for Christmas. The food was lovely and the house red is great! Loved the place. The staff were friendly and hospitable. Would recommend this pub again!

Through the smokers
okt 2019.
Isn't about time that smokers were told to take their habit off the premises rather than standing at the entrance (outside) and customers having to go past them to enter the pub, once inside a decent pint is pulled.

Fleeting

As it has recently reopened and we’re local we paid a fleeting visit. Interesting to drink a very well delivered pint of Samuel Smiths surrounded by several signs of ‘phone and tablet’ free zone. People talking to each other. Glad I spotted the taxi had arrived before the phone rang.

Great Pub, Warm atmosphere, Good beer, my favorite pub !
avg 2019.
The Abbey is a really old building, well suited to its tasteful conversion to a pub. Its been owned by Sam Smiths brewery for some time. Sam Smiths pubs can feel a bit old fashioned, They sell Sam Smiths, Beers Lagers, Ciders, Wines, Spirits, soft drinks and nobody else's products. Even the snacks are Sam Smiths. So if you must have a Morretti, a Peroni or any particular brand, this may not be the pub for you. Be warned the pub only takes cash, no modern financial wizardry here :-) There's even a sign up saying phones and laptops not welcome. Peace ! They do sell one draught bitter, a mild, a cider and three or four lagers of varying strengths. I've tried and liked all of the lagers and the bitter. They don't make a song and dance about the pricing, but the bitter is £2 a pint, the session mild £1.30 a pint, just so you get the gist. I don't think the bottles follow this structure though. I'm so glad it's reopened !

Lovely, Quaint Samuel Smith Pub near Darley Park
okt 2018. • Samostalno
The Abbey Inn is a lovely Samuel Smith pub in Darley, just north of Derby. The building is steeped in history, and you will find the decor inside to be just as cozy and rustic as you'd expect. The lady the behind the bar was very friendly and welcoming towards this German tourist, and I found it easy to talk to some of the patrons, too. The Samuel Smith beers are of very high quality, especially the Old Brewery Bitter (a cask-conditioned favorite) and the Pure Organic Lager; Samuel Smith have as many as four different lagers in their range, but this one is the best. You might also consider their various, mouth-watering fruit beers (bottled only). Darley is a picturesque little village, certainly worth a visit - and The Abbey Inn is the perfect place to unwind from a walk through Darley Park.

Lovely walk with a dog
okt 2018. • Porodično
It is a real hidden gem. There is a lot of character and it is popular with people of all ages and dog lovers. O really want to visit again as there is a beautiful Darley park for a pleasurable walk on even ground of you have mobility issues. The pub has a few steps into so be careful if you have poor mobility but it is a beautiful place.

At last, a real pub!!
jul 2018. • Parovi
Built in 1137 and situated in part of the old Darley Abbey, this is a true gem of a pub. Old stone walls, flagged floor and inglenook fireplace. No juke box or canned music, no wi-fi (talk to one another!) and no signal on my phone indeed, nothing electronic. The bar serves well-kept Sam Smith's ales at £2.20 a pint of bitter(July 18)!! Beer for those wanting to sit on the field opposite is served in decently solid plastic glasses. By the way, it's CASH ONLY (did I mention nothing electronic?) Not to be missed.

jul 2018. • Samostalno
This is a beautiful old Abbey that has been a pub for many years The pub is owned and managed by Samuel Smiths there is extremely cheap beer starting with a pint of lager at £1.80 going up to £3 for a premium pint of lager cask ales are good Comparatively expensive on wines and spirits compared to the beer
