Great architecture, well presented displays, even a painting of the English burning Cadiz, this museum is an excellent guide to the Liberal constitution of 1812 and its aftermath.

This is a small museum and worth a visit if you have some time. It does not take long to visit and has free entry. The model of Cadiz at the time of the Constitution is great and very interesting. The town has not changed a lot in this amount of time.

It seems like a small museum, but you can easily spend 1.5 hours there. The main thing that makes it worth visiting is the incredible scale model of Cádiz from the 18th century. It also contains lots of paintings, maps, guns and other interesting paraphernalia from the 18th and 19th century.
Certainly worth a visit (and free entry)!

This little museum has maps, paintings and models of the town of Cadiz, as well as paintings of the Spanish royal family and local dignitaries. The interior is beautiful and worth seeing, even if you don't want to look at the displays.

Three story small museum that celebrates the signing of the constitution. A scale model of the city at the time is on the second floor. The first floor has highlights of the various buildings with explanations in English. The 2nd and 3rd floor has various memorabilia from the signing of the constitution. And best of all it is free. Open 9 to 6. We were there shortly under an hour.

Archaeological exhibits downstairs and painting upstairs. Good routes through chronologically and by theme.

The scale model of the 1770 town was a real gem. It opened a really interesting point of view to the history of Cadiz. This was an oldfashioned museum, in the good way. Very interesting and informative.

As previous reviewers have commented, it was nice that practically every exhibit had an excellent English translation. A useful addition, particularly for British visitors who have no idea of the importance of the 1812 Constitution in Spanish history, would be a brief summary of the historical background, either in the form of a short video (there was a TV/video on the ground floor, although it wasn't plugged in), or a page or two of A4. As it is, we are currently exploring that on the internet! We were also fortunate in finishing our visit just as a very large group of Spanish teenage schoolchildren arrived! Don't be put off by some of the negative reviews - this is really worth visiting. And you even get to see a nice scale model of HMS Victory, with Lord Nelson standing by.

If short on time, this museum could be passed by even though it is free. The only thing that I thought was interesting was the large floor model of walled Cadiz. There was little information about the constitution of 1812 - mainly a very large wall painting showing a ceremony in which the Constitution was granted. The historical museum was limited to a few small rooms which were crowded with perimeter and middle of the room display cases. These old fashioned display cases held objects relating to the siege of 1810-1812 such as sabres, rifles, handguns, dishes, medals. On the walls were pictures of the military leaders and the Spanish king, Frederick VII. I guess i needed some background information to make these bits and pieces seem interesting. We stayed about 15 minutes.

Another free museum!
All descriptions of items on display translated into English which in Cadiz is unusual and makes the visit even more enjoyable. Well worth visiting.
