The area
Address
Neighborhood: Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognizable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognized architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.

Everything you need in one roof
The grocery stores and the deli. The Argentinian empanadas were uniquely delicious. I had the meatball and tuna flavors. Their Paellas were good for not being a restaurant and price was very inexpensive. I kept going back three times to get me paella especially the seafood one.

    The view is surreal
Please go to El Corte Ingles in the Placa Catalunya. Go to the top floor restaurant/cafeteria and marvel at the panoramic view of Barcelona. It is astounding. And if you happen to want to shop, you are absolutely in the right place!

Great Department Store Near Placa Catalunya - not to be missed
Centrally located and close to public transportation - bus and metro is El Corte Ingles right on Placa Catalunya. This huge department store has several stories with shopping options for everyone. The top floor is for food although it's entirely inside with 360 views of Barcelona. The "basement" level of the store was my favorite as it had a really great supermarket, ready made food and a gourmet store of wines and foods and this is where we purchased most of our souveniers, as well as bocadillos and pastries to go on a daily basis. The staff is very pleasant and nice. There is also a wine bar on this floor allowing you to try the top wines they sell in their wine store. A definite must for anyone visiting Barcelona.

This is a large department store adjacent to the Plaça Catalunya and so is a convenient stopping point for anything you need in a large department store, and air conditioned so a welcome relief from the Barceloña heat.

However, we were totally put off by the lack of service from several members of staff... Hard to spend money with this lack of interest.

Ordered online.
El Corte Ingles never delivered the goods ordered and just charged the Credit Card.I still waiting for the refund since over three month.
It is the worst customer service I've ever seen in my life

The Corte Ingles is a multi-level superstore, much like a mall with a grocery store. There are breathtaking panoramic views of the city on the top level with the cafeteria. Enjoy tapas while taking in all that Barcelona has to offer. For families with picky eaters, the cafeteria has enough options to keep everyone pleased.

Good store with the consistently worst customer service known to man.

While 99% of the employees are normal and even helpful, I consistently have a run in with that ridiculous employee who’s ego gets in the way of their job.

I’ve had a problem, or someone I’m traveling with has had a problem, every single time I go to Corte Ingles, throughout my 40 years of travel.

I have to learn to avoid the store like the plague.

I have been to this store on a number of occasions and I have to say that the staff are rude and mostly unhelpful. It's hard to find someone to help you, usually because they are busy doing something other than customer service. If you are lucky to find a member of staff, they hardly know anything about their products . I have been or talked down to so many times in this store, my friends also have had terrible staff attitude problems here and very upsetting experiences. If they intend to sell to international visitors, i suggest Corte Ingles train their staff in good customer service. Certainly if they are unable to learn an international language like English, to help tourists find and advice them on products, then they should at least try to be patient with people trying to speak Spanish and not talk to us like we are scum of the earth. Yes I agree with the afore said review, possibly the worst service in the world.

A very impressive store selling a massive range of products.
Downstairs has a good selection of goods to eat in or takeaway, and also grocery items.
The middle floors have some top designer labels for clothing.
The eighth floor you will find a good range of toys and football kits.
The top floor has an impressive restaurant with an excellent view, but disappointingly not very well managed. Only one till for over 50 customers. Another till did open, but it took four staff to process the two order of two drinks.
On the positive, food looked impressive

Popped in for Hawaiian Tropic tanning oil and didn't have the one I wanted. Not to worry, I got a suitable alternative for a good price. Picked up a peach to buy and got told off. " How am I supposed to buy one", I said.
Security guard and assistant had a moan.
Went up the escalators to the cafeteria. Had a quick look at the men's shirts, seen a decent Hawaiian one, but at 155 euros, I avoided.
The toy shop on the 8th floor looked impressive and will be back for an important family member.
The cafeteria offers a nice view of Placa de Catalunya and especially some beautiful Gaudi architecture
