The square itself is amazing. The restaurants are full from 3-4 pm for coffee and a bite, and a good glass of local wine enjoyed at any time. You ask for a good white or red, and every glass I had, I enjoyed. The museum was basic, but good to know the region and how it developed if you want to understand the terroire.

In this museum, which is totally free, you can discover the local color and the history of La Rioja through the time, from the prehistory to the 20th century. The museum was very well organized, well explained and what most impressed me is that the pieces are from different parts of La Rioja, so you have the possibility to see the different cultures and economic, artistic activities contained within this Comunidad Autónoma, this region of Spain. The staff members were very friendly and helpful. If you pass by Logroño, don't miss it. It is also located in the middle of Laurel area, full of restaurants and bars to eat delicious tapas and wine

We really enjoyed stopping into this free museum. It provides an overview of the region’s history starting with prehistorical artifacts and ending around the 1800s. I particularly enjoyed learning about the pre-Roman Celtic people that populated this area, which I knew nothing of before. The exhibit starts on the first floor and goes up (I say this because we misunderstood the receptionist and started on the 3rd floor, and ended up going backwards in time). They have a nice selection of art and artifacts and did a good job of trying to cover the bases in terms of domestic, commercial, cultural, and religious life.

Was expecting to discover something about the history of wine (duh!) but for anyone interested in serious history, there's lots of info and artefacts dating back from Roman times and beyond

We came here as part of our recent trip to Logrono. We were delighted to find that they open quite late in the evening, so you can easily fit in a visit. The museum is free to visit, which we found amazing given how good it is. There are several floors, arranged thematically and there's plenty to see as you go through. There are also some excellent interactive displays, available in several languages which allow you to learn more about what you're seeing. These are brilliant and I wish more museums had them. We were quite engrossed in looking at them - much button pressing! There are also copies of several exhibit that you can pick up and look at more closely. A really good way to learn more about what you're seeing.
So, it's a good way to learn that there's more to the region that wine and to know more about the history of Logrono. A nice little touch is to go to the cathedral and see the memorial to the husband of the woman who used to own the house. A good museum and a lot of see in your visit.

This museum is conveniently located in the old city centre and had free admission when I went. It has a beautiful staircase leading up to the different rooms containing all sorts of artefacts, and they tell a lot about the history and such. Some of the areas didn't have thick glass between you and the pieces which was really nice because you could see them more clearly. I had to do a bit of a quick visit because they were going to close for the night, but it was a beautiful museum and definitely worth visiting.

This is the best local museum I have ever been to. Highly recommend it. We not only learned about Rioja, but also more general Spanish history. And the building is beautiful. Worth the trip to Logrono just for this museum.

This museum was closed for many years for renovations and a lot of money was spent in restoring and expanding it. It re-opened about 2 years ago, I believe. They were still working on an exhibit of a Roman mosaic when we visited. They have done a marvellous job of displaying and presenting the items for visitors to see. Using a mixture of conventional displays and multimedia technologies, similar to what we had seen at the renovated National Archaeological Museum, Madrid, this small compact regional museum in Logroño has cleverly captured the history of the local Rioja region, from prehistoric times up until recent times and laid it out in a logical and very interesting way. It is fascinating, extremely well done and you will enjoy the visit.
