    Victor's tour was amazing!
An easy drive 15 min outside of Logrono. The tour was unbelievable. Victor made us feel like we were his friends that he was showing around his bodega. He showed us the whole process and his energy and enthusiasm was awesome. I am so happy that we did this tour. His tour was so much better than any of the other bodegas (unnamed) that we visited in La Rioja. I appreciated his knowledge and excitement about wine. The architecture and connection to the land of the facility was a real surprise.
Thank you very much for your comment, your time and for sharing your experience! We are more than pleased to receive you in Campo Viejo Winery

    Great wine tour and tasting
Very nice and elaborate tour at the great Campo Viejo vineyard. Tour guide was very nice and the English tour is of good quality. Wide range of wines to taste from and lots of wines in the gift shop to take home as a souvenir. Would definitely recommend when visiting Logroño! Only accessible by car, we ordered a taxi which was also very affordable.
We're delighted to have met your expectations and made your experience so positive. We always strive to provide the best possible service to our customers, and knowing that we succeeded is truly rewarding. See you soon in Campo Viejo Winery.

    Amazing wine, facility and hospitality!
Amazing facility, hospitality and expertise. We came upon the vineyard late in the afternoon, just 1 hour before closing at 4pm and thought we pop in for a look. The building is beautiful and the tasting bar is comfortable with stools, sofas, tables and an outdoor patio overlooking vineyards- breathtaking! After a warm welcome from Marta, she suggested we share a wine flight to taste 6 of their most popular wines; white, rose, 4 reds. She also provided complementary chorizo and breadsticks to accompany the tasting. The wines were absolutely delicious and we ordered 6 bottles of their limited production reserves to have them shipped home to the US. Marta also gave us recommendations where to dine and visit next. On our way out, she said she couldn’t let us go without taking a peak at the barrel storage and wow it was a wonder to see- it is one of the largest in the world and it was spectacular! You must visit this winery if you’re in Rioja, you won’t find a better one!
Thank you for your kind words and for recommending our winery to others visiting Rioja. Marta is truly a gem, and we're glad she provided you with excellent hospitality and wine recommendations. We hope to welcome you back in the future for another unforgettable wine experience. Cheers! 🍷🌿

Booked this tour and at €30 per person we were really looking forward to it.
The tour itself was very disappointing. We were taken outside and shown pictures of the various processes. We then we’re taken downstairs and saw some pictures of original owners and then onto a steel walkway over stainless steel storage tanks and the process was explained again. Next we were taken into a large bottle storage area and then into a barrel storage area. This was the visit. We did not see the bottling, labelling etc.

However the wine tasting was 5 star. We had the pleasure of an excellent lady called Marie and she was passionate about the wines and gave us a very detailed explanation about the wines and how to appreciate them. Only for Marie the visit would have been a disaster.
This winery is owned by Pernod Ricard and they could really make a better effort with the tour. We felt it was a ripoff

Good afternoon, We are really sorry that the tour did not reach your expectations. We read every comment and what you share helps us improve this site and develop our future experiences. The tour is usually settled. However, we are flexible to adapt it if possible and show our visitors what they are interested in. We would have been delighted to show you our bottling and labelling area! Looking forward to seeing you again in our winery. Best regards and thank you again for your feedback.

An impressive set up and the sheer size is breath taking. The wines were varied and interesting. The guide started enthusiastic but quickly appeared less enthusiastic and then got lost on his phone which was not acceptable. Definitely worth a visit just to admire the sheer size of the production.

We visited Logroño in early September from Zaragoza as a day trip by train.
We had booked a time slot at campo Viejo a few months earlier from Australia. 20 euros, tour and 5 glass cata.
Our impression of Logroño was negative we found it extremely dull. Nothing about its Roman past. Nothing to suggest it is anywhere close to a world famous wine growing area. I was astonished that Logroño had turned it back on its only assets.
The taxi driver who took us to campo viejo was a streak of misery.
So expectations could not have been lower when we arrived at the bodega.
No reason for low expectations here. The winery is astonishing. I have visited maybe a dozen wineries around the world so I’m far from an expert.
I had never visited anything on this scale. The place is an iceberg. A classic clean lined stone building sits on the top of a hill. 95 percent is beneath. Buried 24 metres into the hill with kilometres and kilometres of subterranean pathways.
I think the gentlemen said production was 30 million bottles a year and you witness that incredible scale with football fields of stainless fermenting vats, thousands and thousands of barrels that fill a quarried hole and a cliff face of bottles that diminishes anyone in their presence.
Tour leader was lovely and very knowledgeable. Building was architect designed and brutal and incredibly well considered in use of borrowed light and glass and the theatrical flourish in the barrel room. Shhhhh. After the tour was the tasting.
Tasting was a very generous five glasses and then our tour leader thought we should try something else and so it became six glasses. I tried it all but in the interests of a healthy liver I left half.
I felt it was exceptional value, I learnt a lot. And I totally recommend.
If you can visit campo viejo without spending a moment in Logroño I think you have structured a better trip than I did.
Thank you very much campo viejo.

Just FYI English speaking visits are done in the afternoons.
The Bodega is not hugely well signposted from town, and is quite a drive out into the vineyards, so allow PLENTY of time to find it and get there. Our Garmin sat nav did not help us to find the address using the CV website and the Logrono tourist map does not extend to cover this far out of town...so we had to wing it using the old grey matter!
However, once you get there WOW, what a fantastic location, from where you can see forever in all directions. The visitors car park does have some trees, so it is possible to find some shade , if like us you have a dog with you in the car.
The company moved to this site from Logrono about 10 years ago, after spending a huge sum on developing their new Bodega, which has the largest underground cellar I have seen, with I think over 60,000 barrels and over 6m bottles in store.
For a €10 fee, prebooked and prepaid, you get a tour and a guided tasting of 5 of their wines, from Crianza, Réserva to Gran Riserva and a Signature wine, all of which are unavailable to buy in the uk. The two young ladies doing the visit were knowledgeable and friendly and helpful. One had worked in the UK for two years and had outstanding English.
We bought several wines unavailable in the UK including a young Bio Tempranillo, which is drunk from the fridge. There were worthwhile offers available in the wine shop like a free magnum with a box of 6 Riserva at about €7 per bottle.
This was the best experiençe of our 10 days holiday in La Rioja.

We were delighted to be enlightend by the staff meber in English. Our Spanish didnot live up to the sublties of wine tatsing. We left with wine in the bbot of our car feeling much more informed about Rioja.
The wine tating facility is huge and tastefully designed. There wew a few people there on a Saturday afternoon enjoying the wine and the stunning views. Give it a try !

We worked with the representatives from Pernod, like Raul Cotelo to make arrangements for a tour and tasting. At 12 euros, it was the best buy on day 1 of our 7 day adventure into 25 wineries in La Rioja.

We were greeted by a most informed employee who hosted the tour and tasting. He took us through a discussion of the vineyards which really enlightened us. Part of the tour was a walk through the fermentation and storage tanks. It is an immense structure, all working by gravity feed and no pumping anywhere. See photos which represent only a fraction of the stainless steel tank capacity. We were staggered by the fact that they are able to keep individual lots/vineyards separated from dozens of growers during the fermentation and oak barrel ageing processes. That approach takes a huge commitment to storage. They do it to preserve the best product for later bottling and blending. Very impressive.

Since La Rioja DOC requires varying lengths of bottle aging of Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva, much of the inventory is tied up in bottles awaiting labeling. Lots of warehouse space is allocated to do this bottle aging. See photos and realize that again, it represents only a portion of the floor space for their production.

This was our first tasting of La Rioja wines in a Bodega. What we were expecting was the mini-sipping quantities so commonly poured in CA. What we got were glasses which were 1/2 filled and revisiting offered on all wines. We loved the Spanish/Basque hospitality of La Rioja Enotourism, but noting that we were driving, we had to manage our intake. DUI blood levels are lower in Spain.

At the end of the tour, we sampled 4 wines (and local food products for pairing) including a rarely made commemorative wine. It was simply divine.

We would not hesitant to offer any of the Campo Viejo wines to friends and family. They were expertly made and it showed in the bottle. Campo Viejo has combined high volume with high quality wine production. We did not know it at the time, but we would only find that unique capability at one other La Rioja winery. We later found many large and small producers who did not measure up to the quality of Campo Viejo.

Bravo, to the owners of Campo Viejo. We are now looking for it in the USA.

This is a thoroughly enjoyable experience, and highly recommended. Our guide, Judith, was charming and spoke excellent English and the visit culminated with wine tastings and some food - breadsticks and chorizo. We took a taxi from the centre of Logrono for 15 euros each way and the visit cost 12 euros per person, which was great value.
