As we got lost in the street and squares of Rimini we came across this impressive mediaeval castle. It dominates the area and there was even a live rock band playing at the side of it when we were there which was great – and a bar set up alongside!
The history behind the castle is fascinating and then are plaques around it which explain this in brief detail.
It is particularly well maintained to say how old it is and makes for some wonderful photo opportunities.

This palace and fortress was once the seat of the lords of Rimini from the 13th to the 16th century. The fortress has an irregular shape with several large bastian, making it a formidable and very defensible structure. Although the moat is no longer extant, the front of the castle is bordered by water channels that also spray water mist, which was a great relief due to the heat.

Residence-fortress (1437) of Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta, to which collaborated also Filippo Brunelleschi. Only the central core of the original structure has survived the passing centuries, but the original palace can still be seen today on the medals of Sigismondo and in the fresco by Piero Della Francesca in the Malatesta Temple. The entrance portal is still surmounted by an inscription and the coat of arms with the elephant, the rose and the chessboard, symbols of the Malatesta

This fortress is quite impressive and is at the edge of the historic centre of Rimini. Descriptive panels give information about the castle.

If there was ever a way to see the interior of this castle, I never found it. No opening hours were available online or at the site. It's an interesting landmark to see, but be aware you might not be able to go in.

This castle is 10 minutes walking from the center of Rimini in an area not very touristic.
I saw it from the outside and I saw also the door of entrance to the city.
It is quite a large building.

Rimini is a gem. A hidden gem with so much to give and only asking for sympathy and love. This is a great example of roman history, the past never grows olde here

From the outside, the castle looked well worth visiting. Unfortunately, it doesn't open until 4:30pm, so I didn't get to see the inside.

Buongiorno a tutti. Qualcuno sa se è possibile visitare l'interno? Se si, è possibile avere sia gli orari che i prezzi? Grazie.
