Neighborhood: San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

Great experience
We enjoyed La Traviata, extremely professionel performance. Very competent singers. AND the surroundings in an ancient venezian palazzo, its fantastic. It was a very hot evening, so it would have been nice with some water. We were given a glass of prosecco, also nice but it was really water we needed. But everything else was lovely.

We had wanted to experience something special on this third trip to Venice and decided to try the opera at Palazzo Barbarigo. I will say that it was definitely a unique experience. Don't get to the Palazzo too early before opening, as they do not open the gates until 8:00. You must make your reservation online prior to the performance. You do not pay in advance but rather must pay the 85eu per person at the time of admittance. Be aware that they e-mail you the day before to confirm and if you do not reply to the e-mail then you might lose your reservation. Seats are not reserved but we really didn't have any problem seeing the performance in any of the three rooms in which it takes place. As others have stated, the opera takes place in three rooms and the audience actually becomes part of the performance. We saw La Traviata and really enjoyed it. Not being ppera buffs we didn't know if that would be the case. I would strongly recommend buying a book on Verdi's La Traviata beforehand if you are not familiar with the story. I bought one on Amazon at minimal cost and it made a huge difference. My husband did not read it beforehand and he did not enjoy the performance as much as I did.

We had the pleasure of participating in a chamber opera version of La Traviata: one becomes one of the guests at the party; travels with the singers and instrumentalists to different rooms in the Palace; eventually reaching Violetta's bedroom, where one witnesses her tragic demise. All the passion of this great opera by Verdi is intensified by the intimacy of the production. The artistes - singers and musicians - are excellent and the overall management of the production is seamless.
I highly recommend visiting this location.

This old not looked after building is an eye sore. May be, when concerts are happening, and if you are inside, good. But this sad looking building is a disaster.

We wanted to see a presentation of La Traviata at the Palazzo Barbarigo and we’re able to book tickets online prior to the trip - this dovetailed in nicely with our touring plans. The Palazzo Barbarigo is a majestic architectural structure which houses both operatic performances & a boutique hotel. Charming evening presentation with the opera moving from room to room in the Palazzo, as the acts change. Fun evening in Venice! Enjoy!

Arriving to Palazzo Barbarigo by water taxi is an incredible experience to this gem of hotel tucked away in the San Polo district. Location is accessible to the main attractions & the vaporetto yet slightly tucked away.
Our upgraded suite was wonderful, decorated in a contemporary style & overlooking the Grand Canal we could watch daily life on the canal pass by.
Daniel & his team were knowledgeable & charming which was so appreciated. I would recommend this hotel to couples for that special experience in fabulous Venice. Bellissima

We spent an unusual and confidential evening with Opera singers at Palazzo Barbarigo Minotto. We highly recommend this place especially for the quality of the show in a typical venician palazzo;

This 16th century palace is now a boutique hotel, located next to Campo San Vio and fronts the Grand Canal. The most notable feature is the gilded façade of Murano glass mosaics from the late 1800’s. This is best viewed in
