The area
Neighborhood: Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.

- tinylassSheffield, United Kingdom4,399 contributionsIt has to be done!I had pre-booked online before our visit and asked for the detour up the Grand Canal for an extra €60. We took the 10 minute walk from the airport terminal to the water taxi point and as they said, there was someone at the exact meeting point to take us to our boat. They are as luxurious as you think and very stylish and comfy. Once we had left the airport, we went quite fast to Venice and then slowed down once near the city. The weather was perfect and it was a fantastic way to arrive at our hotel which was near Piazzale Roma so we got about an hour or so on the boat. For €180 for four of us including travelling right up the Grand Canal, I thought it was a very good price. I'd say it was a once in a lifetime experience but I'm certain we will do it again when we next visit Venice!Visited March 2023Written April 1, 2023
- susan hWakefield, United Kingdom10 contributionsAmazing experienceSuch an amazing experience. I booked a taxi transfer from both the airport to hotel and back to airport and was an unbelievable experience. The booking system easy to use, the professionalism of the drivers, they were there on time each trip. Would thoroughly recommend and enjoyed every second. Would not hesitate to use again. Just book this for the start and finish of your Venice experience.Visited April 2023Traveled with friendsWritten April 11, 2023
- James S6 contributionsGreat service and a memorable way to arrive in Venice for the first timeMy wife and I visited for our 10 year wedding anniversary and wanted to experience the full Venice experience. We were quoted €215 by out hotel to be picked up from Marco Polo Airport and taken to our hotel, near the Zattere Water Bus stop. This felt expensive and I received quotes from private companies including Consorzio Motoscafi - €129. Prior to arriving I emailed them on a few occasions and they were quick to respond. On arrival we walked/took the travelator from the Airport and our Water Taxi was waiting for us at the dock. Very easy and straightforward. The trip across the lagoon was comfortable and just brilliant. We went past the hospital Giovanni e Paulo, turning down the Rio di Santa Giustina and coming out into the main waterway in front of the Campanile di San Giorgio Maggiore, proceeding to go past the Doges Palace and the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute. We were told we could have travelled down the whole Grand Canal for an extra €60 but I'm not sure this would be worth it, not if you're planning on taking a Gondola or Water Bus during your trip.Visited April 2023Written April 17, 2023
- Ross RBournemouth, United Kingdom394 contributionsWorth every pennyWe asked the hotel that we were going to staying in the best way to get to the hotel from the airport. They recommended this company so we booked. A bit pricey but worth every penny. Really great looking boats, friendly courteous drivers and a great speedy drive to our hotel. All ready when we got there, even though our flight was delayed 1.5 hrs and it could not have been easier. Same on our return. Exactly on the time they said. Great service.Visited April 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten May 1, 2023
- Kent GCincinnati, Ohio11 contributionsGood driver - disorganized taxi coordinatorWe scheduled and paid in advance for our trip from Marco Polo to our hotel. In addition, we paid for an additional cruise on the grand canal that was great. Cost was less than other private luxury options. What was not expected was the disorganized system at the airport boat terminal. It took a bit of time to get on a taxi and the coordinator seemed very stressed.Visited June 2023Written June 10, 2023

It’s was a truly brilliant experience to speed across the lagoon and into Venice up the Grand Canal. It’s the only way to arrive in Venice in style. - Denis MThornhill, Canada38 contributionsThe best way to enter VeniceMy wife and I used this service to get from Marco Polo to Venice and back. We can say only good words about this company. Our flight delayed badly but we still got a boat without waiting more than 5 minutes. It was an unforgettable entrance to Venice! On the way back the boat arrived on time and took us right to the airport. Both times the drivers were very friendly and professional. Strongly recommended.Visited July 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten July 30, 2023
- Venette MToronto, Canada35 contributionsReliable, fast serviceHad a great experience with them. We only used them from the hotel to Marco Polo Airport and to be honest, it’s a bit confusing to find the water taxi stop but we called them before pick up time and they gave us great instructions - gave us the Taxi # and our drivers name too. He was there on time and it was an enjoyable, quick ride. If you book them round trip, you can save 5%. They were one of the more affordable private water taxi services available at 135 Euro one way versus the 140-150 Euro the others charge. Note: We are a family of 4 with a carry on each. The only advice I have is that if you are booking with them and pay online, screenshot your voucher (QR code and booking #). I thought I was going to get an email confirming the info but didnt. Glad I had a screenshot because you’ll need it. - FaBianQuanWest Palm Beach, Florida33 contributionsAmazing view and great serviceGreat experience. We walked directly to the water taxi after a long flight from the US. The area to board is easy to find. The employee verified our reservation, and we were on a taxi under 5 min on a Thursday at 3pm. The view was spectacular and we enjoyed having the boat to ourselves.Visited August 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 11, 2023
- Tania R2 contributionsMediocreArrived to venice yesterday. When I booked, I put the wrong date. I immediately called and the date was fixed in the system. My flight arrived 4 hours delayed. Thankfully my booking was respected and I still got my booked water taxi. Now, when We arrived to the port for the water taxi, several groups of people were waiting. The assignation of water taxis was extremely disorganized and we saw the drivers of the taxis wasting time fighting each other verbally over who got to drive where. They didn't care they had several groups waiting. In the end it took around 40 minutes for us to get a taxi and I honestly think the other people there waited even longer. I wish I hadn't booked as there were other taxi drivers around offering the ride for $140 and no wait. Additionally we wanted to add the Grand Canal drive for extra money. However when I requested this to my driver (who was not happy he got assigned to us) he said no. It didn't matter I added it to my notes when I did the reservation.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 13, 2023

I do not recommend this company. This was something I was really looking forward to, a private water taxi from the airport to the dock of our hotel. They DID NOT take us to the dock of our hotel and instead dropped us off about 10 min away and had to walk to our hotel not knowing where we were going. The driver said the water was too high but yet when we got on the boat the director of operations never mentioned this . He instead told us to pay the guy an extra 15 euros because the canal to the hotel was one that required extra payment, so we assumed we were going directly to hotel. And when we got to the hotel the hotel clerk seemed baffled that they didn’t bring us to their hotel dock. He didn’t seem to think the water was too high. Also, we had a set time for our boat reservation and still had to wait in a long line outside the airport for the boat to arrive and wait our turn. The driver of the boat was very rough with our luggage when we got on the boat and then when we got off he forgot to give us 2 of our bags even though they were sitting right behind him. I had to point to them and tell him we had 2 more bags. For the amount of money we paid, we should have just taken the public water taxi, or went with a more professional company. Extremely disappointed!!

This was a wonderful experience. I arranged for a water taxi to pick us up at a particular spot - a difficult one since the station by our hotel was closed for repairs. So the water taxi had to come up a narrow canal to pick up my partner & myself plus our baggage.
After emails with the home office, handled efficiently, professionally and very considerately, we figured out the best location for the pickup.
The driver showed up right on time as requested and was very helpful to myself in helping me onboard. (I have restricted mobility due to back surgery) He knew exactly where we were going, and was again helpful on the debarkation.
I would definitely recommend this service...

Sadly with Venice part of the lock down due to the Corona Virus, we had to cancel our trip. We had booked a water taxi and sadly had to cancel our journey from the airport to the hotel. This company were very swift to to understand our situation and waive their normal 70% refund, giving us instead 100% refund and within a day. Given the difficult situation currently in Venice I feel this good will gesture of theirs is important to comment on, and once things have settled I shall have no hesitation to use this company again.

I am so impressed with the integrity of this company! On my first visit to Venice on this trip, I had pleasant rides to and from my hotel…very efficient and a fun way to get to the airport and/or hotel! But even more impressive was during my 2nd visit, I booked the water taxi from my different hotel to the train station. It cost 60 euro. Within hours, I received an e mail from the company telling me that my hotel was within walking distance of the train station and there was no need for me to take a water taxi (unless I wanted to). They gave me permission to cancel and get a full refund. I did so, and within hours, I was reimbursed! I am so impressed with this company for their intergrity and not just outright taking my money becaue I “didn’t know better.” I will book this company whenever I am in Venice!

Booked trip from airport to hotel and back. Excellent service. Easy to access from airport terminal. Lovely easy way to arrive into Venice. It was a real treat. Pick up for return trip was very punctual with added advantage of being able to board directly from the hotel. Staff friendly and helpful.

This was a lovely way to get into Venice for our first ever trip there. The boat was there when we arrived at the dock and we were in the city in around 20 minutes. Great driver who helped with the luggage. On the way back to the airport, the boat was there to meet us on time and again, the driver was very helpful.

The best thing is to take the vaporetto #1 or #2. They go up the canal from the train station - every few minutes. Water Taxis are very expensive and not worth the money but they are the only way to get close to a hotel - assuming it has a canal entrance. NB vaporetto tickets can be purchased as day passes (1, 2, 3 and 7 days) , which is the most economical way to buy them. We were there for six days in September and bought a seven-day ticket which we got fully benefit from - totally worth it.

Hey! How much extra was the charge to boat down the Grand Canal as part of your airport transfer? :)

We travelled from the airport to the Hotel Principe which is on the Grand Canal near Santa Lucia railway station. Part of the journey was down the Grand Canal; the boat came onto it somewhere between Rialto Bridge and Santa Lucia. There was no extra charge.
If you wanted the boat to travel the whole length of the Grand Canal as part of your airport transfer, you would have to ask for it when booking and negotiate the rate yourself.
How far is the American Airlines terminal to the water taxi area?

Hi, Could someone please tell how you get to the Consorzio Moscafi Venezia water taxi when you arrive at Marco Polo airport. Also could you please explain what happens on your return journey eg. where they pick you up. This is our first time to Venice, a party of 6 and we are unsure about the transport. Thank you.

You do need to go to the desk where they will check your online booking document and tell you which pier to go to and which driver to ask for. Go up one level in the lift and walk to the travelator, ride it to the end and go down 1 level to the pier area. Go to your pier and the driver will sort out the rest, load your bags and you can sit back and enjoy the easiest way into Venice. Look out for Mazzorbo, Burano and Murano on the left as you head along the lagoon.

Bonjour,
