The area
Neighborhood: San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.

I don't know but everytime we went out for dinner or lunch we somehow found our way back here! It was never planned but yet we'd come back. This is such a fun bar/pub and a must visit in Venice. The staff are incredibly nice and so are the drinks (very good prices). A must visit!

What? 1 Euro 50c for a latte in Venice? Yes, indeed, it's true. I came across this little cafe on my wanderings in Venice and at last, a really good latte. And all for one euro 50c. Was so nice to sit and enjoy a good latte and watch the passing foot traffic. I saw Michelle and Ferret as I sat there, I swear! (only Aussies will know who I am talking about). Highly recommended - excellent cafe and subtle people watching and photographing.

My other half and I went to this bar early in the evening as had good review in our guidebook but how wrong they were. The barlady was happy to serve our drinks (ordered in passable Italian before you ask) and we got a table near the bar and sat down for a chat. Once I'd finished my first spritz of the night, I went to the bar to order another and waited patiently while she served everyone else (including people who arrived at the bar later than me) and then proceeded to clean all the tables in the bar. After half an hour wait, the friends we were waiting for arrived and so we decided to vote with our feet. After realising she would lose 4 people's custom, she rushed after us but it was too little too late.
The only reason I can think of for such awful service (however unbelievable) is that she heard us speaking in English to each other and was perhaps racist? I'd like to think there was another explanation but I can't think of any. What a shame...

We found this cafe almost by accident, but went there a few times. We tried both redline and drinks over a period of 6 days....
A short description of the wine we like, and the waitress found a very good local wine! and very cheap for a cafe in Venice!
We tried some drinks as well, and they were generally good. Their daiquiris were not made as good as their long drinks..... not enough berries...
the staff is generally very helpfull, and the music is kept to a level were normal conversation is possible.....they also serve limited food and snacks....all in all a nice experience, and a kind of low price level. A bottle of good redwine is 15 EUR, and drinks between 6-8 EUR

Overall good cocktails and service, howeveeerrrr... We went on a March evening, the place was swarming with customers, while people were flocking in; everyone ordering DRINKS, when suddenly we realised the toilets had been blocked by a table and an “out of service sign” I realised this the moment I was in obvious urge to use the toilets; people started complaining among themselves and leaving the place as soon as they saw this, when I told the waitress i needed to use them, she tried to explain sth about Venice’s tide being high. I get that, but if you are setting a BUSINESS and you know this is a problem in your city, you try to fix it in advance! not just block the toilets and forget about it. On top of this, and as a consequence to a lack of toilet services I ordered the bill after I had been ordering drinks for a while. When I took out my card to pay, the girl just said “sorry just cash” It was a bill of €70!! Nowhere in this place did I ever see a sign of “cash only”!! They just expect people to guess abou it! Luckily and after digging into our wallets we could find enough money to pay! This is a touristic city for God’s sake!! How come establishments of this kind and clientele do not accept cards?? We had to literally leave the remaining of our drinks (which we paid in full) and ran to our hostel which by the way was 20 mins away. We were bursting! What might have gained a 5 star rating, plummeted to just one!! Sorry, it’s just what you get.

Me and my partner stumbled over this cafe by accident. We had been walking for hours and wanted a break. We had a glass of wine, a pint of beer and the best pizza I had in Italy all for 8.50 euros. Win win. It had a buzzing atmosphere and the staff were friendly. Definitely make a pit stop here!

Finished an intermittent four week bike journey, spread 2010 - 2013, Berlin - Dresden - Prague - Passau - Innsbruck - Bolzano - Trento - Bassano - Padua - Venice last Friday in Venice with 20 friends. The others rented, but I rode my own bike, geared in detail from experience over years. Had called the tourist office two weeks before outset and got an express OK to take the bike in non-rush hours on the vaporetto to the apartment that we rented just off San Marco's Sq. But Italy is sometimes disinformation and Venice even more so. It was no on the vaporetto, no at the luggage disposals, no at the train station, everywhere no and forbidden without a trace of empathy. Me sad, dehydrated and hungry, my wife and I stop at Cafe Noir without knowing that Marco and Paula would turn matters completely. They offered good ecological beer and huge sandwiches at very reasonable prices. Somehow they pick up my bike problems (only discussed in Swedish between the two of us) and offer to garage the bike until our departure two days later.
Went there late night after dining with a bunch of the bike friends. Totally friendly, generous drinks, great prices, great music, nice young crowd blended with older locals. Come Departure Sunday, Marco and I talk on the phone and ten minutes before time he is there, refuses money, shares his smile and good luck. Don't take your bike to Venice, but visit Cafe Noir, near Vaporetto San Tomà on Calle Corsera Dorsoduro.
