We took a bareboat charter for a two week sail around the Cyclades from Kostas and his team at Sail in Greek Waters.

This turned out to be an excellent choice for us as a group of 4. Two of us as recent RYA Dayskippers with about 3,500 miles each and 2 of us with novice sail experience.

We had originally booked for earlier in the year and had to cancel a few times due to covid travel restrictions. However, Kostas worked with us and extended the flexibility that allowed us to move the dates around.

When we eventually made it to Greece we had a wonderful time visiting the islands either at anchor or taking a few days at a mooring and exploring.

As this was our first time to “bareboat” charter, September and early October worked out to be a good time for us to visit the Cyclades as we experienced only a max wind speed of a F5 and no Meltimi.

On one or two (no wind) days we had to motor all day to keep our itinerary, but at only 2lts of fuel per hour that was ok.

The boat was very well equipped and everything worked well.

Our boat back home has a tiller and lazy bag so wheel helm and the in mast furling took a day or so to master. However during the trip Kostas was on hand (by phone or what’s app) all the times to give us advice and trouble shoot as we learned to manage this type of yacht.

• High points - were the picturesque islands, anchoring and snorkeling. The sailing was brilliant and figuring out the best trim for the sails to get an extra 1/2 knot from the yacht on a particular tack was great fun.

• Low point - was the anxieties of med-mooring for the first time but we found everybody to be very helpful as we approached the dock. It’s just something that you have to master.

The whole experience from collection at Lavrion with Kostas and his tips on which islands to visit, to the return two weeks later was excellent and we highly recommend Sail in Greek Waters.

We will certainly be back.

We just returned from a week’s sailing in the South Ionian Sea, and i can only recommend Kostas / Sail In Greek Waters.

For our family celebration with 6 adults and 4 kids 2, we chose South Ionian Sea because of the shorter distances.
Our requirements were a catamaran with 5 cabins, for 0 heel and for its saloon with a view. This to ensure that some of our first time sailors could also enjoy in so-so spring weather and without getting sea sick. Some of us with racing blood had to accept cruising mode.
It left not many options, but a Bali 4.6 catamaran matched the requirements. i got a good deal with the most personal communication through Sail In Greek Waters. Kostas responded fast and detailed, and i appreciate his authenticity/human and friendly response. Kostas his command of English is very high so nothing was lost in translation. He is a skipper himself, so upon my request he wrote me about his own safety briefing and points of attention.
Unfortunately i did not get to meet Kostas in Lefkas, as he was busy with a fleet in Athens. I did check in the boat with a partner agency and the owner. I was in close contact though with Kostas during check in. Lasly, during the trip he sent me whatsapp messages to hear if all was well and he recommended specific locations or routes. What else can i ask for? I can recommend Sailing in Greek Waters!

The Bali 4.6 lived up to our cruising expectations.
We sailed not higher than 60 degrees apparent upwind and we kept sails in under 6 knots. we planned our itinerary based on this and the wind forecast (eg downwind from Fiskardo to Kioni rather than the other way around one day earlier). We could actually feel response in gusts, despite fixed propellers (seen also with charter monohulls) and the high displacement. We managed to put 9.4 kts on the log downwind comfortably, in 20 knots (yes with the main sheet in our hand to be ready). So we were positively surprised after all. As for the comfort, everything one can think of was on board and in perfect condition. Our logic worked, kids played inside on a rainy or windy afternoon, and there is plenty of space for all 10. Lastly, having breakfast at the quayside with the “garagedoor” open is fantastic. As for the South Ionian, all i can say: can we go again?

Efharisto Kostas for helping us with a dream week!

Kind regards, Frank, Aarhus, Denmark

An amazing company and trip, with a skipper that I would want every time I go sailing! Kostas and Jovana were excellent at communicating when first emailed about the trip. Any questions were answered promptly and gave us confidence in the company we were booking with. Kostas was a great skipper, expanse of sailing knowledge and experience, made me feel safe and taught my husband the basics throughout the trip. He had great knowledge of sailing in Greece, he also loves sailing and this came out in the stories he shared and the trip we had.

We have rented a yacht with Sail in Greek Waters twice in the past, from Alimos marina and Skiathos (Sporades islands). Every time, the company offered good variety of yachts for us to choose, at very competitive prices. Yachts have met our expectations in terms of quality, equipment and cleanness. The Skippers have always been great persons, polite and still warm hearted. We had been able both to visit the destinations we wanted (e.g. the small and challenging port of Hydra), and yet discover new amazing destinations, suggested by the Skippers; we will never forget the serene coves that we visited in Skopelos and Alonissos, as well as at the Saronic islands, like Dokos. Great places to swim, relax, and even spend the night under the stars!! It was the initiative of our skippers to visit those spots and it was highly appreciated.
Overall, the experience with Sail in Greek Waters was great and we recommend strongly the company for your sailing trips in Greece!

We chartered a boat and Kostas was our skipper for a week long trip in July 2021. Kostas originally called me to discuss our trip when I sent an enquiring email. He followed up by suggesting different routes/trips and emailed us a list of boats available. He was upfront with his advice/warning that July/August can be windy in the Cyclades but we really wanted to sail in this area. We lucked out and most of the week had little to no wind!
We started on Paros, sailed to Antiparos and overnighted in a secluded bay by the deserted island of Despotiko. Imagine our amazement when we woke up to crystal clear blue waters and a temple to Apollo that we swam to and explored without another person around! We continued on to Ios and then Iraklia. The hike to the cave of the cyclops and the cave of St George are amazing! We sailed to a few of the other minor cyclades and ended up back on Paros. It was an amazing week exploring smaller islands, swimming in secluded bays, learning to sail!
Kostas was easy to communicate with before the trip. He was very helpful in planning our itinerary and open to our suggestions. He taught us some basic sailing lessons and let us actually sail the boat! This is a unique way to explore Greece and we highly recommend Sail in Greek Waters!

We chartered a boat with Sail in Greek Waters in September. Kostas was super helpful, answering all the questions we had, arranging groceries supplies and providing itinerary recommendations. Since we also asked for skipper he managed to free his time and captain our boat, it was such a great experience! He is really an excellent skipper, very experienced and accommodating to our needs and wishes. We are a crew who wants to learn so Kostas was the perfect match for us:) He was gladly teaching us and letting us running the boat under his supervision.
Overall it was a great experience, I will highly recommend sailing with Kostas and Sail in Greek Waters!

Last October we enjoyed a wonderful sailing week in the Saronic islands. We sailed from the port of Lavrion, on the yacht Ilibilly, with our skipper, Kostas, to some beautiful islands, Poros, Hydra and Spetses. We had arranged for sailing lessons, because 2 people in our group were interested to learn how to sail. The islands are so beautiful, with traditional ports, and obviously more calm without the mass tourists (the advantage of sailing off-season). The weather was not so hot, but we still enjoyed swimming and sun bathing during the mid day. In the afternoon, we visited the ports in the islands and enjoyed sightseeing and dinner in the local restaurants. I fell in love with Hydra port, what a fantastic, historic place!
During the day we had our sailing lessons: the skipper was calm and very explanatory regarding the principles of sailing. Overall, the weather was mild, so we could practice a lot the basic principles: driving the boat, setting the sails, then trimming them and enjoying the amazing experience of sailing, listening only to the sound of the waves hitting the yacht. Maneuvering in the ports was much more challenging and a lot of fun, but our skipper explained that it takes a lot of experience to handle a boat in small areas. Next time it will be better!! We spent also a night on anchor in Sounion, where the next morning we enjoyed an amazing sunrise experience. Among others, cooking on the boat was another part of the wonderful trip.
Thanks to Sail in Greek Waters, thank you Kostas, we love you Ilibilly, we enjoyed an unforgettable week in the islands and we are looking forward to coming Spring, so we sail again!

This was an unbelievable trip and company! The communication when I started researching/planning to the minute we got on the boat was beyond my expectations. Kostas was a fantastic skipper giving options on the days adventures. I was impressed with his patience operating a boat that size and his willingness (and patience again!) to incorporate us in the sailing process. Our original plan was to sail the Cyclade islands but due to wind and weather we had to alter our course and do the Saronic islands which were amazing. I would highly recommend this company and Kostas. We are already planning to go again in September 2022! I'd love to answer any questions so feel free to send me a message!

I would definitely recommend "Sail in Greek waters" to anyone looking to charter a sailing yacht to sail the Greek islands. Excellent services! Jovana was a charm straight from the beginning! Very friendly and polite and did everything she could to make sure that all our requests were met and made sure that she provided the best package available. An outstanding professional! Our skipper Spyros was the best!! We could not have had anyone more suitable to take us on this trip. Very professional and discreet with a great sense of responsibility, knowledgeable and smart, very polite, fun to be around and with a good sense of humor! Never had to worry about anything, Spyros took care of it!! He made us feel carefree and safe from the first minute until the last! By the second day, he was just another friend on the boat. All and all, we had a great time on our Marianna, a super spacious Bavaria 55 Cruiser and cant wait for our next trip!!

Fantastic vacation. Kostas is a perfect skipper who does his job with incredible dedication. His goal is to create the perfect experience for his clients and he does it incredibly well. Everything was extremely well organized, the boat was in very good condition, we saw beautiful islands and beaches and we always felt very safe. You only have to get to know Kostas for a few minutes and you will think he is a very good friend. I have already had my experiences with sailing companies. Now I have finally found the perfect company. From now on only "Sail in Greek Waters". My next trip is already booked. Thank you Kostas for this incredible experience!
