Fontana Luminosa is a brilliant sign of activity in restoring the old town of L'Aquila. I did visit the location in early August 2017 and the place was busy - concerts were around (in front of the Castel). This is a sign of start!

This is what you would need to spend your time to go to visit such a monument, made between the world wars...

When we visited there was only on color "blue". The fountain and the statue is nice but not very special

Fontana Luminosa is an amazing fountain at the entrance of the city. From there, the main avenue that whole city centre. It was restored recently, adding a magical touch with lights of different colours. You have the "Parco del Castello" 2 steps away.

During our visit we walked by the fontana on our way to the castle grounds - much of it was obscured because it is under repair. It looks like it might be worth a few minutes when it is repaired and working, but it was just one more depressing thing in a city that deserves better.

This is a great selfie fountain. If the weather is right you can even get the mountains in the photo.
Also, a great landmark as a meeting place.

Grazie in anticipo!
