Melissa Muldoon, la studentessa matta heartily concurs that Ylenia Sambati of YLTOUR is wonderful! I have traveled on three separate occasions in Puglia. On the last two trips I have worked with Ylenia and have had the best experiences. In collaboration with Ylenia, I organized two groups to study Italian in Lecce where my groups stayed at the Palazzo Castromediano in the the heart of Lecce's historic center and also in the country at the Masseria Provenzani.

Not only is Ylenia delightful and totally hands on, paying great attention to organization and details, she is also very passionate and extremely knowledgeable about the Salento region. She can arrange just about any activity or excursion imaginable. She is well connected and works with so many talented individuals from Art Historians, Winemakers, Cheese makers, Cartapesta masters to cooking and olive oil experts. What ever your specific interest might be, she can tailor a special vacation just for you. She is reliable, FUN! and professional... and this is why I have chosen to work with her on two occasions.

I just got back from a family trip in Puglia and was very pleased with YLTour. Ylenia is great (runs the company). We had a fantastic cooking class (this is a must) outside Lecce and all of the guides she arranged for us were terrific. I would not do the cheese tasting but perhaps that's just me.

Whilst in Puglia we had several tours with YLTours. The guides provided were extremely nice and knowledgeable on their subjects however these did not necessarily match with what we thought was going to occur on some of these tours.
By way of example - Bari tour – it became obvious after starting this tour that our guide was working to a different brief to what we were expecting. The guide was an expert on 'modern' history hence the expected foodie part of the tour was a piece of Focacia [was very good] & a gelato [which was stunning !!]. Unfortunately some of the key bits we were looking forward to did not eventuate ie No beer stop to sample local brews, no wine sipping & heritage chat and burrata etc at a delicatessen. Not blaming our guide because when I showed him what we thought we were getting he looked more than a tad shell shocked. I think YLTOUR need to improve on their briefing of their many tour guides & as a suggestion include in the briefing where their clients are from.

My partner and I are not cooks! It did not matter. We cooked Pizzi Leccese, wine and cheese polpettoncini, eggplant polpette and farro..and MORE.
Ylenia and her two 'Moms' created one of the best experiences I have had on ANY vacation. If you want learn about Puglia and its lifestyle and culture, please ccntact Ylenia. Stupendous!

If you are going to be in Puglia - don't miss contacting Yle of Yl Tour. Yle has organised a number of different activities for us from cookery lessons, private lunches at a masseria with fabulous pool and great food, cheese making, market visits, visiting the grape harvesting, visits to olive oil mill with a picnic in the olive groves, carta pesta demonstrations, boat trips ...... and so much more. Everything has been wonderful and nothing is too much trouble, no matter how small our group. Grazie mille Yle.... we are thinking of more days out in October and next year.

My partner signed us up to a cooking workshop in Squinzano as part of our holiday break. This place is beyond exceptional! The place was a disused local government building which we were told was unused for around 10 years and was located against the colourful backdrop of the town square. Ylenia and her team set about a large renovation project and the local community really rallied behind them, offering plenty of dated photos, documents and artifacts which are scattered throughout the building. They've done an outstanding job of the refurbishment and it's light, airy, spacious and full of character.

The cooking was a sheer delight. Ylenia was a fantastic teacher and mama Angelina was incredible too. The dishes were a joy to cook and we were well guided. We learnt 6+ recipes including focaccia bread and orecchiette to tartufetti al cioccolato.

With our bellies full of food and the most delicious wine we left.
No doubt, this will be the highlight of our trip. Highly recommended to all.
A truely unforgettable experience.

Thanks to Ylenia and her team.

Ylenia was a wonderful guide who knew all the best places to visit. I loved the fact that she spoke English fluently and would take us off the beaten track to places I didn't know were here. I recommend YLTour for anyone wishing to explore Salento, Lecce Italy .. Amazing experience - thank you Ylenia e Michele

I can not recommend wonderful Yle highly enough, this lady rocks!

I have learnt so much about so many aspects of Puglia thanks to her. This year she organised one of the best ever days out, see eastendbird's review, starting early with the wine harvest, then a cheese making demonstration in an amazing little farm near Lecce with the kindest of families, followed by oil and wine tasting at a fabulous masseria. Yle also arranged for a private party, with wonderful local food that she had prepared at another masseria as a surprise for my daughter; it was a wonderful relaxed, treat of a day. We also went on an end of holiday boat trip around the bay of Gallipoli, including off boat swimming and a spaghetti lunch.

My biggest difficulty now is how to praise her up but still make sure she is available to arrange other wonderful days out next time we are in the area!

We had the most wonderful day touring with Ylena, I cannot recommend her enough. We started with a visit to the grape harvest and actually got to help out a little ourselves. I will be looking out for Puglian chardonnays next year and thinking "I may have helped make that"! Then we went to a tiny little farm outside Lecce to watch some cheese being made, we also got to help out and, of course, taste the different soft cheeses. Finally we went to one of the most beautiful places I have ever been - a masseria with a gorgeous pool to swim in. Here we had lunch and then enjoyed a wine and olive oil tasting. I remember saying to my partner that evening "that's it, I've had the best day of the year!". Ylena is friendly, funny and knowledgeable, there is no way we would have found all these places on our own. I cannot wait to come back next year to do another tour with her. Thank you Ylena!
