First, we hesitated a bit to book the walking tour because it costs 18 Euro per person.

But we were glad that we did the tour. It gave us a good overview on the historic development of the Lecce. Our guide Ellisabeta was able to answer all our questions.

Additionally, the tour grants you access to 2 churches and the Jewish museum for which you normally would need to pay for. Thus, if you plan to visit these places anyway then definitely book this tour. You will almost save money.

Infotab is marvellous, especially Michelangelo who runs it. Nothing is too much for him. He found us an excellent b&b, recommended us restaurants (all very good), accompanied us to our room, arranged transport from Brindisi and was generally a mine of very useful accommodation. The Jewish Walking Tour was excellent, as was the Lecce Walking Tour. The guide was excellent, too..

InfoTours is remarkable, and its guiding star is Michelangelo. Friends had booked a lovely apartment through him, and he arranged for transportation from Brindisi when the buses were late, walked us to our apartment, walked us to a restaurant he recommended (it was fine), and for 3 days took care of every question and detail. We toured the area for 2 days and on our final day in Lecce, decided to take a tour there. We had already seen the Jewish museum, so he arranged for us to meet the tour and continus with it around the city. Elisabeta, our guide and an enthusiastic graduate of archeology, was tremendously knowledgeable, kept to a pace we could all manage, answered the most obscure questions with a grin and a smile, and apologised for overrunning the time alloted for the tour! If you are in Lecce, contact this group. AND go on a tour. They have many many others, all of which seemed very appealing.

Diletta was our guide. And what a guide! I've been living here for 12 years, have translated a number of written guides to Lecce and thought I knew the place backwards. Diletta kept me transfixed for well over 2 hours and opened Lecce up in a way that made me feel I was looking at the monuments for the very first time. She covered everything from the Romans to the origins of classic local food and from the intricacies of marble inlay to leccio oil lamp oil with wonderful anecdotes and an eye for engaging detail just where it counts. No one else had pointed out and read the dialect in the painting commemorating sant'Oronzo in Santa Croce or had talked about Mussolini's tanks in lecce. Brilliant!

We stumbled across this tourist point looking for a restaurant on the same road. At first we were put off by the laminated sheets about the tours, but we are really glad we went inside. We decided to ask about the pasta making and we had one of the best experiences ever at Via Roma restaurant just outside of Lecce. The lady who organised it all went out of her way to ensure that we got there and back easily as we didn't have car. The experience itself was fantastic. It was just the 2 of us and the chef who had little English and we have little Italian but we muddled through and learned loads. We then ate the fresh pasta and enjoyed a lovely glass of local wine . All in all a great experience. This was in contrast to the official tourist offices we had previously visited in Lecce, the staff there couldn't really be bothered with us and were not helpful. In contrast this was service with a smile and a reasonable price. Well recommended.

Our guide, Francesco, a native of Lecce, was knowledgeable & friendly. We explored the streets of the old Jewish neighborhood as well as the Underground Jewish Museum with its purification baths provided by the underground river. He explained in detail the facades of many churches including Church of Jesus Christ, Santa Croce, St Irene & the Duomo. All in all a very informative tour!
