The Spiaggia di Sansone is a little hard to get to.
Parking is by side of road and then you have to walk down a paved road for about 250 metres and then a rough track to get to the beach.
You could drive to this track to offload passengers, but then you would need to park the car on the road above.
Once there you are almost blinded by the white pebbles on this small beach and you will be amazed at the clear blue water that lets you see the bottom. Sparkling like a thousand stars.
A small kiosk sells water, ice cream and also hires out deck chairs and umbrella..
Absolutely fantastic.
20 Minutes outside Portoferrario.

After hopping from one beach to the other in late September, we concluded this was the nicest. A few minutes walking from the road - pack your sports shoes, flip flops are probably not the best idea - but with a very modern cafe with bathrooms, changing rooms, and shovers on the hill just above the beach. Also, coffee, warm sandwiches, and some English. The views over the beach are thrilling and the water, when we visited, translucent, relentlessly hitting the white pebbles - some water shoes will be helpful for sensitive feet.

It's a bit of a trek from the main road down to the beach along a rugged path (about a 15 minute walk) and definitely not for strollers, but the effort is totally worthwhile. You might never see water so clear and colorful. No sand, just pebbles is a big plus for those who don't enjoy sand. Get there early (8:30am) if you want to find easy parking at the top of the road, otherwise you may be adding an extra 10 minutes of walking.
Sansone beach has a small bar, but it is modest.
The disadvantage is that there are no bathrooms on Sansone beach. On the way down to the beach you pass a campsite and for one euro they will let you use their restrooms, but it's a 5 minute hike from the beach itself.

There will be problem finding a parking, but that’d the least of the hustle. You better have hiking shoes or at least sneakers to go downhill , first on a asphalt , than on narrow “ goat trail “ , only to arrive on anthill of people. ( not exaggerating. ) There will be hardly any spot for you to place a foot let alone towels. If you arrive early there is a portion of beach that rents 2 chairs for 40 Euros but even the 2 chairs will not get you much space: The beach is divided in 3 parts 2 smaller , the middle larger, and in spite of being huge it’s extremely crowded. Since there is only one restaurant w one restroom ( literally one single toilet for men one for women that coast 50 cents to enter and there is no line to get in) , I assume everyone is peeing in the sea , therefor enjoy your swim ! After you are done with splashing in urinated water and jumping over people be ready to hike uphill back with all your belongings. Also make sure you bring enough water and food unless you mean to camp near the restaurant which may not be possible . I can see why this beach may be beautiful experience off session , it’s gorgeous, the color of water is turquoise and from some points you can snap great Instagram worthy shots- but all of that is not worth it during the high season.

Many things wrong with this beach.
No parking, absolutely terrible path down to it, just ridiculous really, overcrowded (weekday in late September), narrow ( max 4 people depth between cliff and usable edge of beach), only about 150m long, steep drop off makes it unsafe for children, unprotected makes it vulnerable to the weather.
The path leads down to la sorgente beach first (tiny and crowded), then you have to turn left and climb over a small hill to get there.
Half the main beach is private, €30 for fixed umbrella and two sun beds, squeezed together.
You can walk further down the beach and wade (or walk, depends on the waves) to another section, which was covered in washed up sea grass when we were there.
Not suitable for dogs due to the overcrowding.
It looks nice, but that’s the only thing going for it.

The beach is very very beautiful but the road to reach it is awful and terrible! If I knew how the road is going to be, I wouldn’t have gone there. That’s why I posted photos for others to see.
I don’t know how parents are coming here with small children and even strollers when they can go to family beaches like Biodola Cavoli Fetovaia and many more..it’s beyond my imagination!!! I saw how a little baby tripped and hurt his knee..
You have to park on the street if you find a place because in August is overcrowded. After that there is a 15 min walk until the beach...going is easier because you go down the hill but coming up is harder.
This is a pebbled beach! Bring your water shoes. And very important ..you won’t find sunbeds and umbrellas to rent if you don’t come earlier before 10 o’clock..
I had a bad signal to my phone down there so implicitly my internet didn’t work most of the day...
There is also La Sorgente beach there before Sansone. Between them there is a bar with refreshments and some snacks and food. The toilets and showers have a 50 cents tax.

As all of the beaches in this part, it is really beautiful with white stones and turquoise water. Although it is quite a long walk to reach it, the beach is crowded. If you wish to have a little bit more privacy, continue to beach on west side. You can reach it by walking around rocks in the water (not deep, cca 60 cm).

The best beaches in Tuscany are on the island of Elba. High season sees huge crowds but you can always find a little secret tucked away. April is low season so you will be in a quite paradise. This beach is absolutely stunning; not if you like sand, but small white pebbles make swimming a paradise (crystal clear waters). It is not one of the main beach attractions in Elba and for that you may not have to endure huge crowds... If you are looking for seclusion, go to Sotto Bomba or Prunini nearby; best even, rent a small boat and slowly explore the amazing beaches which can be accessed by boat only. Heaven.

Ordinary place. Had to borrow a key from campsite to get there. Water clear but ive seen better. Water full of stinging jellyfish. Not a nice place. Would never go back. Biodola is way better with all the amenities necessary.

For sure the best beach that i visited during my vacation into Elba island. The water is green/blue and the contrast with the white of the stones is very amazing. the way to arrive to beach allow to see the very impressive landscape and to take very nice pictures.
