Worth a visit if looking for gifts
mar 2020.
A big area - many stalls but with similar goods - mostly clothing but some shoes and bags. Quite large food stall and product area. Look for quality cotton and silk items at some stalls. BARGAIN!

Predominantly wholesale
mar 2020. • Parovi
China Town main market is twice the size of Ben Thanh market, similar design with the clock tower but on two floors. Most of the sellers here are wholesale though, so great if you want x12 bras, 20 pairs of Crocs etc....but worth a visit. The surrounding area is buzzing too.

Some very nice pieces at great prices
feb 2020. • Parovi
This market is quite big and covered which is good for getting out of the sun. Bought a few bit in here for around for a third of the asking price. My only gripe is as soon as you walk in, it a very hard sale tactic to the point the grab you, you just have to say no and walk on as the deals get better as you go round

Chinese wholesale market with very few tourists
feb 2020. • Parovi
We really enjoyed our visit here. There were very few western tourists and, given that it's a wholesale market where people buy and sell in bulk, we certainly found that the stallholders largely ignored us, as we were clearly not their target market!! The will sell the odd individual item but I'd suggest you just have a good look around at 'how the other half live'.

Fascinating place to wander...especially the fish and food section
dec 2019.
A great place to explore, you'll be encouraged to buy but not to excess... the food area: fish, meat and fruit/veg is the more interesting. The morning is best. An outdoor night market opens in adjacent streets.

Authentic experience, but expect to be bothered
dec 2019.
If you want a slice of real life in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Tay Market will suffice. The sights, the sounds, the smells, endless stalls of tiny shops selling goods under one gigantic roof. This is authentic Saigon. What the Grand Bazaar is to Istanbul, Binh Tay Market is to Ho Chi Minh City. But, expect to be bothered. You can't blame owners of each stall who see tourists with expendable cash walking their way to lobby for your business. This is how they make money. Expect every stall owner to beg you to buy something from them. If you're okay with the hustle and bustle, and people triying to get you to spend money, go see this massive market. If you don't want people in your face, maybe not. But if you're looking for a souvenir, you'll definitely find a little of everything here.

If you happen to be in the area, you might want to have a look. Not worth going in that part of town just for the market.

a wonderful experience
nov 2019.
It is a wonderful experience going to this market. This is also a distribution center, where many of the goods are packaged a shipped. It was interesting to see the volume and to see the type of goods shipped out. Prices are probably better than any other market in Ho Chi Minh. Of course, you need to bargain with the vendors. I found that they do not lower the price much here, as the prices are already wholesale priced.

Knock-offs galore
nov 2019.
HUGE, crowded market warehouse with much competition from sellers. Not a place you want to be if you are claustrophobic. It is likely to be hot and humid. US$ always welcome.

Lots of Fake Items, Plenty of Rude Sellers and Too Crowded
okt 2019.
The market is filled with hundreds of stalls selling items. Unfortunately most are selling the same immitation, fake items. To be expected here. We saw a nice helmet we were going to buy but the woman said, "no buy", "no buy" and waved her hand like to get away. This is not a wholesale market and other vendors were more then willing to sell. I'm guessing she had a bad experience with a foreigner boyfriend or hates foreigners for some reason. She worked at Stall 336 and I would encourage everyone to avoid this stall. There are many others selling the exact same things. I will say the food in the food area looked and smelled good. So if you want to go see a typical Asian market and be treated like crap I encourage you to go. Remember, the girl in 336 hates you and it shows.
