One of the many island beaches in Port Blair, nothing great !
nov 2019.
Red Skin island can be reached in a boat from Wandoor jetty. It takes about 45 mins to reach. The place is clean and we had a good glass bottom boat experience. However, there are many other better beaches in Andaman as compared to Red Skin. I preferred the Jolly Buoy and North Bay islands to Red Skin. Overall Havelock and Neil were the best !!!

Can spend half a day here if you have enough time at disposal.

its not about the island alone, its about the journey
mar 2019.
this is a half day visit and you must go. to reach red skin one has to obtain a permit from the tourism dept and reach wandoor jetty. from the jetty you will be transferred into another boat which will take you to the island. at the island you can use the option of glass bottom boat/ snorkelling (check what is available when you arrive). even if none of the activities are happening, just visit the island, there is also a small trail through the jungle marked. once you arrive back at wandoor, dont forget to see the interpretation centre. no plastic are allowed , so dont even carry anything.

For the Coral enthusiasts
maj 2019. • Porodično
I visited Red skin island during the end of May 2019. It's a visit for 3-4 hours. The best part of the visit is 1 hour visit on the Glass bottom boat. We saw different types of Corals like Table top, star finger, mushroom plate, hard mushroom, brain Coral etc. We saw different types of aquatic animals like jelly fish, sea cucumber, Nimo fish, Sea urchin etc. This island has got amazing flora and fauna which can be experienced only through glass boat ride. They don't allow snorkeling or sea walk here. Red skin and Jolly boy are open alternately for 6 months of the year. Apart from this, there is little else in the red skin island aside from a nature walk. Toilet facilities are available on the island. You need to carry your own eatables. The entry to the island is regulated and you need to get the permit a day or two in advance. Plastic water bottles and plastic covers are not allowed

Do visit its fabulous
nov 2018. • Porodično
Visited this island on 13th Nov 2018.

First the cons
1) Getting permit is difficult as permit is issued 3 days before only
For Thursday you will get permit on Monday. Have to visit tourism office for this & expect a big q for this.
2) There is nothing to do in this island. No washroom no eating joints. Not allowed to get into water.

3) Its departure is from Wandoor which is 30km from Port Blair.

Now the prons , that is only 1 but enough to provoke willingness to visit this island.

After you get into boat & reach near the island guide will brief you about island & also will insist you go for GLASS BOTTOM BOAT.

Pricing differs for the time you spend on the boat & do little bargaining if you are in a group.
But believe me its fantastic.

Crystal clear water & best corals will fascinate you.

We spend 1.15 hrs on boat & saw so many different fishes, but 2 things what we saw was extraordinary, first Sea eill 5 feet long & Black & white snake of around 6 feet.

It was a best sighting of my life.
It was a rare sighting which we saw & was enough to forget pain taken to get permit & reach to island.

Tip. Pl contact Mr. Sadai Gopal for any assistance related to permit, reaching wandoor & coming back
He is one of the honest Rickshaw driver but he can manage car or Tempo traveller if you are in a big group. His M.no is +919933202151/+919531918600

Beautiful corals
okt 2018. • Porodično
We didn't realise that we can't get into water at all there. The boat from the jetty to red skin island is very scenic. The complementary coral view in glass bottom ride is enough. They tricked us by saying if we pay 1000rs extra per person we will get to see more beautiful corals and it was world No.2 and all. Since there was no internet, we couldn't verify that. We did get to see more corals but it was definitely not worth 1000rs. There is nothing to do at the island. Some hiking trail is there but you need to be be ready when they call you. You have to leave in the same boat you took there.
