Recommended, even during Corona times
apr 2021.
I love descending into the village of Al-Beidha and seeing the rock formations in the background. Once I arrived at Little Petra, I was greeted by Sami, who was our guide and host. We walked slowly through Little Petra. Sami was knowledge and had good English. We appreciated the quiet and the slow pace of the tour in contrast to the pace and movement in "Big Petra."

Little 15
dec 2019.
Must visit before visiting the large Petra site. Little Petra offers fine examples of Nabataean life and buildings.

A must before big Petra!
mar 2020. • Parovi
This wonderful site is a must before you visit PETRA itself.

It truly is breathtaking giving you an insight into what to expect.

You don’t need a guide.

Just get out and walk, take it all in. You’ll need approx 30-45 minutes here or as long as you like if you want to grab a coffee and chat to a local.

A Nice "Little" Surprise
mar 2020.
This was an added bonus that wasn’t on my itinerary. My driver Jousaf suggested this stop since I didn’t spend too much time at Mount Nebu and Madaba so we stopped here at Little Petra.

This was a prelude for what's to come the next day. This site doesn't require an entrance fee and is less crowed, yet you get the same amazement with buildings carved into the walls of the sandstone canyons.

Try and squeeze this gem into your itinerary if possible. You won't be disappointed.

A great place to get a feel for Nabataean life before the main Petra site.
mar 2020.
Easy to walk around, and some stairs provide a great view over the complex. A short stroll to the neolithic age village was well worth the effort.

Free entry, kind of hidden, beautiful rock formations
feb 2020.
Its a true beauty and alittle hidden. Alot to explore but dont go alone, easy to get lost. Lovely rock formations and some hidden treasures. Great for a hike and also relaxation.

Worth it
mar 2020. • Porodično
Siq Al-Barid, more commonly known as Little Petra, is about ten minutes drive from Petra. The signage isn’t fabulous and we only found it because we spotted a tourist minivan and figured they were heading that way, too. Though I am sure we would have found it on our own, eventually.
Like Petra to get to the site through a narrow canyon, or siq, which opens up to buildings beautifully sculpted out of the red sandstone. Don’t even bother with a stroller here. The floor of the valley is thick with soft sand that even an SUV of a stroller might struggle with.
Little Petra is well worth a morning of scrambling about. Even, and I would argue especially, with a little. Because it is so narrow you can stick mostly to the shade. And because it is so small and contained you can let littles have highly controlled reign.
You’ll likely spend no more than an hour here.

Tour of Little Petra and Neolithic Village
mar 2020. • Samostalno
Really nice place with a great view at the end. Saw this before Petra and it was a great introduction. I was given a nice tour of Little Petra and the Neolithic village nearby by Sami Amarein. Sami also offered to guide me for a hike to the monastery in Petra or stay in his Bedouin tent and have dinner but unfortunately I didn’t have time.

Loveley (and fairly quiet)
feb 2020.
If you’ve seen the Taj Mahal, you probably know that the ‘Little Taj’ is rather nicer and much quieter. The same applies here, Little Petra has some fine tombs and other ‘caves’ and is relatively quiet and much sandier.
Local Bedouin traders will negotiate prices (and they start lower than Petra), but it’s hard work.
