Someone Knows how to pack a ton into a small space

While a small museum there is a lot of great history, and information to be taken in at this museum. Worth taking time to visit.

A cool place to visit especially if you are around Vail during the summer. Checkout the oldest ski and snowboard and learn about 10th Mountain division as well. There is no fee, but you can make donation.

Great little museum which had a section on the 10th Mtn Div. Did a very nice job on interpretation on the Division. Could have spent more time there.

Great place to spend a couple hours.

We spent almost two hours in here. They have a very informative movie on 10th Mountain Division, and many models of skis throughout the years as well as snowboards. The museum is free--they just ask for donations.

Sandy Treat's Talk was Incredible

If Sandy, a WWII 10th Mountain veteran, is giving his talk, please don't miss it. His vivid description of Camp Hale training and combat in Italy is inspiring. Plus his philosophical outlook, as a member of the Great Generation, is refreshing, based on the current political climate in our country.

The little museum that could!

Walked into this museum expecting to stay for 30 mins...more than 2 hours later we left with an amazing appreciation for the history and development of the US ski industry. Extremely well done historical excavation of the 10th Mountain Division of the US Army and their amazing contribution to WWII and our favorite snow sport. A highly interactive museum with great nostalgia. Well done!

Special: History of US Army's 10th Mountain Division of WWII fame

I first went Vail in 1974, but this is my first visit to this museum. While it contains a history of Vail and the Vail Hall of Fame the most meaningful section to me, admittedly a WWII history fan, was that devoted to the US Army's 10th Mountain Division of WWII fame. It was based in Vail. In addition artifacts and information panels it has a terrific continuous loop 40 minute video about the 10th. Although a donation is requested, admission is free.

Don't miss Sandy Treat!

We happened to visit on a Friday afternoon. The 45 minute film on the 10th Division is outstanding! After the film ended, we were treated to a lecture by 95 year old veteran Sandy Treat. It was a treat indeed. While the actual museum is not large it is still worth spending several hours here!

I love skiing and this small but complete museum shows my favourite sport from the beginning to today. Don't miss it, it takes just one hour but it really worths a visit.

I do not know the address, but it is above the Vail Parking Garage. There is a set of stairs facing Vail Village, about 3 flights going up to the Transportation Center and the Museum is at the top of those stairs.
