Large church complex with quite a bit of history behind it. Due to corona scare, there is only very limited access to both the old and new churches. It (the old church building) is believed to be about 1400 years old church which had undergone rehabilitation and upgrading several times. There is a board indicating a holy well but we could not get anyone to explain the story behind it. An impressive complex which needs a more details visit once the COVID 19 scare is over.

Our first stop at Kochi was the Edappally Church Complex, which mesmerised us all due to its grandeur and beauty. A very nicely maintained complex with old church adjacent is really a place to visit. Once inside you feel the peace with the majestic wall paintings, the large ceiling fans and other sculptures. Although it is a pilgrimage destination for Christians, anyone can visit and its really worth a visit.

While in Western Europe many (not to say most) churches stand empty and are being sold or demolished, in Kerala brand new churches are built. The Edappally complex is just one of many. Completed in 2015 the building shows splendor and luxury.

As a sober European I ask myself the question would it not be better to use scarce resources to improve the sewage system and provide clean drinking water and basic primary health care to the poor?

..... what you mean by Church ???????????..... A church built at the cost of 500 million to worship the savior who was born in a manger. Highly expensive and highly lavish styles......Its just a building on which multi crores were spent and not a tourist attraction and or does it have historical or any other significance.

This place has been in news for the lavishness and luxury for a church. Yea, you read it right, for a church. Always wondered why would a church need these huge structure and luxury intended for uber riches. I didn't find this place any attractive or any holy. May be you can hop in to see the lavish interior and extra vagant wastage of money. I still want to get into the old church beside this behemoth structure. Hope human will one day realise, Gods doesn't stay in these churches, but on your souls.

What an incredible place to visit! The Church can be seen from all around and is on a giant scale.

The Adoration chapel is simply stunning but the main church is amazing, with beautiful artworks inside and the biggest ceiling fans I have ever seen!
