As of May 2021 you now need to pay $20 for parking if you are not a resident of Ajax. Go to Pickering, Whitby, or Oshawa sites instead where you can still park for free or a REASONABLE price. The trail is nice but then paying to park extends into the surrounding neighborhoods so unless you are willing to walk over a km for free parking, don't bother. The local government has put a premium price on outdoor activities in their city.

Beautiful park right down on the lakefront in Ajax. Lots of parking but fills up quickly on a nice summer day. Big Canada Day party put on by the Town of Ajax. BBQ's, playground and splash pad for kids, grass, trees, shade...good times.

Nice place to visit in the summer and fall. Lovely view of Lake Ontario with a playground and splash pad for the children. There is a paved bicycle path running through the park and ample free parking. Facilities include picnic tables, restrooms as well as a small canteen that serves cold drinks ,ice cream and limited food.

The splash pad at Rotary is extremely dangerous!! While there, I witnessed at least a dozen kids fall and hurt themselves horribly. When asked for bandages or items from the main building's emergency kit, we were told that nothing was in there.
Horrible experience!!

Rotary Park sits along the paved walkway that lines much of Ajax's border with Lake Ontario. It blends very nicely with the greenspace that forms that waterfront, while providing a children's playground, tot's waterpark and the "Pavilion": a discreet building with an indoor meeting area and snack bar. The snack bar also has outside access making it a welcome oasis for bike rides on a hot summer day. Rotary Park was for many years a top destination for our little girl, and we recommend it for youngsters and adults alike!

Our family as well as many others we know all rely on The Portly Piper for good, fast and reasonably priced food... and the beers nice and cold too!! Imran is usually the manager overseeing literally everything and he’s truly the nicest person & so hardworking! Can’t go wrong with Portly’s menu, very diverse and something for everyone no matter what you’re craving. Staff are great and are very used to their busy spot, always runs without any hiccups (at least from where we sit!) Highly recommend trying it if you haven’t!

Went on Sunday with temperature of 30 degrees, my both kids love it! Nice walking trail with calm breeze, not feel like 30 degrees, right at lake! Lot of shaded picnic areas; two kids play ground! Decent size splash pad.

Rotary park is a great place for children and family alike. There is a play area for the kids with swings etc. and also a small splash waterpark. In the summer there is even a building where you can pick up pop or water or snacks. There are also washrooms, covered the pavilions for picnicking, walking trails, and of course the lake.
Non-propane powered barbecues are also allowed if you want to sit and cook a picnic type meal.
A walking trail follows the lake shore in both directions and is a comfortable paved pathway. There is a marsh in the area and always birds and ducks and fish to see.
During the summer months on weekends there is usually something going on for your enjoyment.
There are also many green spaces for soccer, kite flying, or just sitting on a blanket.
If you need to get out of your stuffy house or just want some fresh air this is a good spot and I recommend it.

The paths for walking and biking beside the lake are used by many people, young to seniors. The view is gorgeous and the path crosses the bay area several times. fishing is a familiar activity and rock skipping and there is a great playground for kids. some of the equipment has recently been upgraded to include a mini zip line. there are picnic tables for enjoying a meal. There are also benches to rest along the paths. At holiday times there are also special activities. It is difficult to find parking during those times. a great place for many to enjoy!!!

There are a few shelters and bbqs but you'd have to get there early. Lots of room to spread a blanket out on the grass
Can you bring your own propane BBQ?

Yes, you can bring your own BBQ. But remember, if you want to use any of the built-in picnic areas, then you need a permit. For more info, call +1 (905) 619-2529 ext. 7200. Or see the Town of Ajax website.

Are dogs allowed? Do you have to book and pay for a picnic site?

Also, remember that, "As always, pets are welcome within the park system in the Town of Ajax; however, it is important to note that a dog must be leashed in these areas. An unleashed dog within an Ajax park, other than the two designated Leash Free Dog Areas, is illegal in the Town of Ajax and could result in a $500 ticket.
Residents and visitors using the park system with their pets are asked to clear away any pet waste that may be created during their time in the park. Keeping pet waste clear helps create a clean and healthy environment for all visitors young and old." - The Town of Ajax website
