In centro of Castel gandolfo near the palace is this nice little church dedicated to San Tommaso da Villanova; I saw in Rome in basilica San Andrea, San Tommaso da Villanova in his coffin or bier and he was like a waxfigure and peaceful sleeping, it was a little bit frightening for me.

This church is one of the landmarks of the main square in Castel Gandolfo. If you are lucky, as we were, you will be able to see a traditional Italian church wedding. The inside is very solemn , pleasing and traditional. You almost go back in time seeing the church in the lovely piazza of the quaint little town of Castel Gandolfo near the Pope's summer palace.

Bernini's works in Rome are well known, but it is worth a visit to Castel Gandolfo to see this superb church. All the elements cohere satisfactorily. The sculpture is of high quality. The dome dominates the little town. This is an example of serene baroque.

This small church on the square in front of the Apostolic Palace is nondescript on the outside, but lovely inside. Designed by Bernini, the statues surrounding the altar are magnificent—beautifully carved marble, and the dome is stunning as well. We were lucky to be able to get a quick peek inside, however, before the cleaning lady ran us out!

The painting over the altar is unique in that the sculpted figures melt over onto the frame of the painting. It is a unique perspective drawing you into the scene. The dome is also decorated in a stunning fashion.

This is a small Catholic Church, but very impressive. It was great to be able to sit quietly and reflect and pray.

This is a nice church tastefully decorated. On most days it is very peaceful and a nice place to pray, reflect and light a candle. This time we found that real candles had been replaced by electric ones.

Don't walk past, go in! This is a lovely church in the square of Castel Gandolfo, designed by Bernini in high Baroque style. There is a wonderful dome and architectural features.

Although the facade looks spartan compared to other architectural gems in Rome this church was designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini.

This is a lovely church in the heart of Castel Gandolfo, designed by Bernini. Take the time and go inside. Even though it is not large, it is beautiful!
