We wanted to go from Ragusa Ibla, where we were staying, to see the mosaics in Villa Romana, near Piazza Armerina and asked in two travel agents in Ragusa Alta. The first one said it was impossible except by hiring a car, which we didn't want to do. The second said they could arrange a car and driver at the cost of 440 Euros! We gave up and went to Modica for the day and, by sheer luck, passed by this little visitor centre and saw a board outside advertising a day trip to Villa Romana and Caltagirone. They were SO helpful and the cost was just 138 Euros for the two of us! The driver picked us up in Ragusa Ibla, was a very good and careful driver and very helpful. He waited for us while we visited the Villa, drove us to a nice restaurant and waited while we had lunch, waited again while we visited Caltagirone and drove us back to Ragusa Ibla. We had a wonderful day and Villa Romana is not to be missed. We are very impressed with this excellent service and would recommend it to other travellers without any hesitation.

The Modica Visitor Center located on the main street, Corso Umberto is a excellent place to find information about Modica. The people who work inside the office, also speak English. They can guide you on where to find buses to take you up to San Giorgio in Modica Alta, help you with tours, etc.. They close at lunchtime.

We popped into the visitor center as soon as we got settled in our apartment. The ladies running the front desk were extremely helpful. They pointed out all of the best sights in Modica as well as some good restaurants and some nearby towns to check out. They even recognized that it was American Thanksgiving Day and wished us a happy holiday.

Due to lack of numbers we were unable to go on any of the organised tours which was a little disappointing as they looked good. They were difficult to do without local knowledge. The guy was very helpful and spoke excellent English. The centre has lots of useful information available. He is trying hard to promote tourism in and around Modica and he needs you support.

We visited Modica visitor center, as we happened to have parked our rented car in front of their place. We just wanted to enquire about parking tickets and we ended up with all the information we needed about Modica and the vicinity: what to visit, where to eat, what to do, where to go for good chocolate etc. We were also given a very useful map. The staff are extremely helpful, friendly, speak English fluently and they seem to enjoy their job :) Well done!

We found this excellent service during our trip to the historic area of South East Sicily in July. We were based in Modica and were able to book trips to the Villa Romana del Casale, Siracusa/Noto, The Montalbano location tour and a full day trip to Malta. Valeria and her colleagues are helpful and friendly.
The staff are friendly and efficient and the tours extremely good value.
The day in Malta visited La Valletta, Mdina and the Megalithic temple of Ħaġar Qim.
The short sail was smooth in a sleek and modern ferry
All trips were good value and were a boon to exploring this wonderful area of Sicily

we went to Sicily for the day when we visited Malta at Easter. This day we enjoyed to see mount Etna and afterwards we had the opportunity to see charming Modica. It was a great pleasure to get all the information at the visitor center we required and many nice books on the region and on Modica. thanks for the free Wifi.

We were lucky enough to be in Modica for the celebrations. Whilst the actual day was ok, the real action was the following Sunday which started at 07:00 am “cannon” fireworks that echoed down the valley.

At 2 pm the statue was brought out of the church in front of a huge crowd of cheering supporters. Again more fireworks and music as he was carried around the city all day. Final celebrations at 11:00pm on return to the church end with s full cavalcade of loud “cannon” fireworks.

All of this set around the beautiful old city streets.
