The very special entrance portal to Comacchio from the sea canals. Worth a stop to see if passing this small town near Ravenna. Close to a number of restaurants and the town centre.

The Trepponti like the rest of the town of Comacchio is a hidden gem off the beaten track. Unfortunately access to the town from Ferrara & Ravenna by public transport is difficult which in all probability is the main reason why so few tourists visit the town.

The 17th century Trepponti (also known as Ponte Pallotta) is probably the most famous bridge in Comacchio and its most representative monument.
It is located along the ancient Pallotta waterway that led to the Adriatic Sea and was the fortified gate of the city.
Below its only arch ends the navigable waterway Pallotta that is distributed within the historical center up to form four different channels.
Over the centuries, the building underwent several changes to its structure, especially of aesthetic value, witnessed by the addition of the two watchtowers at the top of the two back stairs and six pillars placed at the top of the three front stairways.
Near the Trepponti there is also another bridge of Luca Danese, called Ponte degli Sbirri due to its proximity to the ancient city prisons.

Comacchio itself, despite its size is interesting: It has a great Roman museum based around a 1200 year old barge found in the mud, some canals, lots of eels and the Treponti bridge. This bridge is cool, interesting if you like and appreciate Italian architecture and within walking distance of almost anywhere in the town. Evening lighting makes for a great photo. A bit of a gem really.

Comacchio is the main town of the region of the Po Delta. In fact it's a small fishing village that looks like a "little Venice". It's cut by several canals & joined by several bridges.
The most famous of which is Trepponti= triple-bridge, dating from 1634, which is composed of 5 staircases & croses 5 of the canals. It's very unique & from its highest point you have a nice view of the whole village.
The place is so beautiful & tranquile without masses of tourists.
Do yourself a favour & don't finish your visit after seeing & photographing Trepponti, walk the streets, cross the canals, look around & absorb the atmosphere- it's pure pleasure.
If you happen to be in Comacchio by the end of Sept.- begining of Oct. there is an eel festival(Sagra dell'Anguilla) that shouldn't be missed.

The Trepponti bridge is one of the most known attractions in Commachio, so you should not avoid it if you are exploring this lovely town. But there are many other nice houses, bridges, canals. And I must not forget to mention nice cafes and restaurants.

This 17th-century bridge is lovely, it's built where one canal divides into two which is why in Italian the name means "three bridges".

Is fun crossing one side to the other and enjoy the canals view from this XVII century town’s main gate but local authorities should give a priority to clean all those droppings that can damage this monument and related health issues.
