Very nice Afrikan cultural museum
jul 2019.
The Africa Museum is situated in Berg en Dal, near Nijmegen. There are temporary exhibitions but we liked the museum park the best. Here you can see a village and huts in the traditional Afrikan architecture. The grounds are quite large so take a minimum of 3 hours to visit this museum. It can be busy with schoolkids.

Africa deserves better
okt 2019.
If this museum is the first step towards getting to know Africa, then you may get a complete wrong image. The dreary outdoor museum area with the concrete mock-ups of African villages are, in my opinion, a caricature of the African society. Indoors it wasn't much better with a painful lack of information of the cultural treasures of Africa and the progress of the continent. Interesting was the room with displayed objects of the colorful kaleidoscope of different African clans with their varying view on society, sometimes completely different from the Western view. That made me wonder if the West shouldn't stop trying to see Africa using the Western scale of norms and values, but respect the African people in their beliefs. But Africa deserves better than this museum.

discovery through East Africa
feb 2019. • Parovi
Interesting exhibition of mainly East Africa ( Ethiopia, Sudan, Tanszania, Kenya) and artifact from West Africa (Mali, Senegal, Ghana).
Lots of artifact from several rituals as masks and statues, clay and wood figures.
Now there is an exhibition over juwelery from sevaral countrys (India, Marocco, Middle East and Africa). In the park you can see several small villages from different cultures. In winter there is not much to do, but in summer there are more activities.

Really worth a visit
nov 2018. • Porodično
I visited the museum together with my daughter and my three grandsons. We started with the jewelry exposition which is really amazing. The kids also enjoyed the opportunity to make their own piece of jewelry. A very nice feature of the museum. Afterwards we enjoyed the outdoor of exposition of African villages. Nice weather will enhance your pleasure. The children enjoyed the way they could venture around in the different african architectural housing solutions. Great experience.

Small

The museum is quite small. There are some interesting things to see but all in all I think it wasn't worth the price. Maybe more interesting to visit with small children.

How strange to find Africa so closeby!
apr 2018. • Porodično
This is a unique museum in that you're "there"! You can walk through the village huts and see how the different African cultures adapted their constructions to the physical lay of the land. This makes a lasting impression especially on small children as they can see and touch. The inside museum is well set out with artifacts displayed but unfortunately all information is in Dutch.

Very nice and 'cosy' museum telling and showing interesting matters about Africa and foreign 3rd world countries in general. Beautiful feather exhibition, very beautiful photo exhibition and all you can see about housing and living in African countries.

Road Trip
jun 2017. • Samostalno
Lovely get-away from the city of Amsterdam. A three-hour train ride gets you to this museum that features artefacts, short videos and model homesteads from the Ahsanti, Mali and Makonde empires, to name but a few.

The down-side is that any person who does not speak Dutch will be lost. The captions are only in Dutch except the section with collection of birds.

A pleasant suprise
sep 2016. • Parovi
I remember going here as a kid, which, well, is over 30 years ago. As we happened to be in the neighborhood ( the excellent groesbeek wine festival), decided to go by here. Pleasant suprise, the ultra modern museum has an extensive display of african art, culture and history. And thats the indoors.the outdoor area contains several african villages, and more art.
We loved it
