- Marko Ž.Maribor, Slovenia5 contributionsI recommend at least a two-day visit to experience Venice in the morning, afternoon and evening. A very safe place with a large crowd of people, but they disappear towards the evening and you can walk alone and feel the Venetian atmosphere.Written February 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TommoMelbourne, Australia50,431 contributionsWe discovered this church during our Venice walking tour.
This cute church has a treasure chest looking facade
It was built in the 15th century, it has remained original and preserved.
Both the interior and the facade is sculpted with multi-colored marble.
Really worth a look whilst in Venice.Written February 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - julie cBurnaby, Canada962 contributionsPeaceful, busy working church. We arrived as people were busy coming for prayers and then heading on their way. A lovely play for prayer or contemplation in a very busy area.Written April 25, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - VeronicaFCBrighton, UK13 contributionsEnjoyed the tour with the architecture and art. Lots of Medieval art with some more modern installations. Would recommend with the Palazzo di Grimani.Written August 14, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Andres72423Bridgeport, CT2,930 contributionsA very convenient train station which provides access to the Wonderful world of Venice. The station is rather easy to navigate with plenty of ticket kiosk in order to purchase and validate your ticket on the run. The boards are easy to read and access. They have a few shops to purchase items and food on the go.Written June 24, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Chris CAberdeen, UK67 contributionsOur family stumbled upon this most amazing church. It may seem humble from the outside; however once inside I was overwhelmed by the paintings,
Just amazing.Written April 9, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Teacher91 ❤Temple, TX42,735 contributionsA pretty bridge with a great view at what feels like the 'entrance' of Venice.
Once you cross it, there are lots of a shops, restaurants, and other sights and sounds of Venice to enjoy.Written November 17, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The church forms the imposing conclusion of this wide opening square. The inside is less spectacular compared with other churches in Venice. Its best known for its relics of Saint Lucia. In mediavel times Venice acquired works of art and relics, but sometimes they looted them in pagan lands and in the case of the relics of Saint Lucia even in Byzantium in 1204 p.c.Written February 17, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David MCambridge, UK2,057 contributionsThere can't be many supermarkets in such a stunning building - but make sure that you take a look inside, as that's really special, too. We were staying in a self-catering AirBNB nearby and visited it a few times.Written February 16, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TommoMelbourne, Australia50,431 contributionsChiesa dei Santi Apostoli di Cristo or the Church of the Holy Apostles of Christ is from 7th-century and is a Roman Catholic church.
Its located in the Cannaregio district and we discovered it during our walking tour.
It is one of the oldest churches in Venice and has undergone numerous changes since its origin.
In 1575 the church was rebuilt rather than renovated.
The bell tower was built in 1672.Written February 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Turned out to be a perfect choice, with each city having its own personality and types of things to see and do. Since we're Jewish, we made a point of visiting the Jewish sections of each city. These visits taught us a lot about Italian history, not just Jewish.
While we loved all 3 cities, Venice was our favorite. Venice is a little jewel of a city. Cars and motorcycles are banned from most of it, so you don’t have to worry about sharing streets with anyone except other pedestrians. We walked all over, past lovely churches and piazzi, up and down alleys, some of them so narrow we had to go single file. But they didn’t feel confining, they just drew us in to see what was beyond the next corner. We would come to a break in the stone with a wide window of a shop containing Venetian glass or books, art, leather goods, food, lace, or—my personal favorite—beautiful clothes made here in Italy.
What a joy to be on our own timeline, to decide on the spur of the moment to explore this alley, check out this shop, or try the pizza or pasta or sweets and coffee in this or that cafe that looks so promising.
And I couldn't imagine a lovelier hotel than the one we chose. It's called Hotel Excess, but it's not excess--it's just right. Beautiful, comfortable, with a warm, friendly staff and great buffet breakfasts.Written December 31, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
