- TommoMelbourne, Australia50,431 contributionsWe visitedthe Orsanmichele Church during our walking tour of Florence.
It was an oratory dedicated to St. Michael. with a vegetable garden surrounding.
It was built as a market in 1336 and converted to a church in 1380.
The facade had lovely decorations of statues of their patron saints. which are now preserved in the Museum of Orsanmichele.
The interior of the church has remained original since it was constructed in the Gothic style.Written February 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I lucked out in timing and got to see the third floor which isn’t always open. It’s a super cool old building and they have a lot of old furnishings still inside. It must have been really great to be a rich person in Florence back in history. It’s great that this is preserved.Written February 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Traveler OWashington DC, DC1,068 contributionsLocated close to the main sights and in central Florence, there are shops, cafes, a carousel, and other things here. It's an easy spot to move onto and between different sights. Cafes and eateries off the square are better than those in the square though.Written September 24, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ElliTravelTasteAthens, Greece419 contributionsVia dei Calzaiuoli is a wide pedestrian street that connects piazza della Signoria with piazza Duomo. It is full of stores, from which you can buy bags, cosmetics, clothes, accessories. There you can also find a well known Italian department store (Coin). Well, you should not forget to visit Venchi Gelateria on Via dei Calzaiuoli bacause to me window shopping in Florence while eating my gelato is my happy thing.Written November 13, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Traveler OWashington DC, DC1,068 contributionsEssentially your run of the mill tourist trap market, located by the Uffizi Gallery and the adjacent square. Standard touristy goods and a few scattered unique items. Same market you see at most tourist destination cities.Written September 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TamJim4Spring, TX21 contributionsThe Museum is actually not very big and apart from the statue our favorite part was the musical instruments. The instruments were well over a hundred years old and I loved the pianos and the horns. I must say that the Sculpture of David is absolutely breathtaking. It is huge and the level of details on the sculpture is incredible. We went in the winter when lines are shorter so we had no issue with waits.Written February 14, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Freda JVancouver, Canada21 contributionsAs an earlier reviewer said, this library takes effort to get into - in fact, it may be impossible if you don't speak Italian. Which we don't. When we showed up, the security guards just shook their heads at us and waved us away. Luckily for us, there was an Italian fellow outside the door, having a cigarette, and he asked us what we wanted. When we told him we wanted to see the library, he took us back in, spoke to the guards at length, and the next thing we knew, we were being issued guest passes. Thank you to our guardian angel. :) The library really is beautiful, of great interest to researchers and historians, I'm sure. I'm so glad we were able to see it. Good luck to all who try.Written November 16, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- pashann b4 contributionsWe booked tours for both Rome and Florence. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Always willing to answer questions even for things not related to the tour. We asked for their recommendations for what to do/eat and where to go in the cities and loved all their recommendations.
Marta took us to the uffizi gallery and was extremely fun and captivating.
Francesca took us on the walk and talk tour around Florence and it was a great experience.
Tatiana guided us through the Vatican and was great too.
Would also recommend the Rome walking tour.Written February 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It really doesn't look like it is open or has tours available. We saw no sign of life nor was there a way to make contact. However, we are big fans of Dante and would have liked to tour the building.Written October 19, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - EmilyCanton, MI3 contributionsGilli is a bit pricier than surrounding caffe’s, but has good coffee and pastries. A great place to people watch and take in Piazza della Repubblica.Written October 9, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TheShisTel Aviv, Israel39,612 contributionsThis is a rather unremarkable column in the middle of Repucclica square.
Called "Abundance column" sounds just right as it is located right in the center of a very abundant quarter in Florence.Written December 20, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Shelley11 contributionsBeautiful view from the rooftop terrace to the Cathedral and Dome. Note there’s a 10% menu surcharge to sit on the rooftop (as opposed to one level below, in the shopping centre).
Go for the views rather than a culinary experience - the food and customer service were fine, but both waitresses seemed very unhappy the whole time (with all customers). It didn’t spoil our visit there. We visited at 10.30am (on a Tuesday) and it was very quiet - got one of the best seats!Written September 5, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
