- FredDeManVolgograd, Russia48 contributionsNavigating Furnas is a nightmare (especially as they had rerouted the one-way system for roadworks when we were there) but, if you can find these baths, they are well run and straightforward.
It costs more to get in than the website says (no website in Sao Miguel is up to date!) but there are change rooms and toilets, as well as paid showers.
The pools are all the same temperature, but different depths, so probably choose the emptiest.
The baths seem to be used more by locals, so expect it to be busy after work and weekends. There is a small parking lor. If it's full, good luck!Written March 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - FredDeManVolgograd, Russia48 contributionsThere isn't a whole lot to see here. Basically it's a walk through several greenhouses showing the stages of pineapple growth. We piggybacked on a bus tour guide which was much better than wandering around alone.
There's a nice cafeteria selling everything pineapple flavoured. The pineapple gelato is especially nice.
It's definitely true that these pineapples are better than the more common Hawaian style ones.Written March 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lori B5 contributionsGood information on volcanic activities and how this site became a go-to destination for Sao Miguel. Very close to the city of Ponta Delgada. There are 2 tours, one very easy and the second is longer and more challenging. - schwach3North Pekin, IL20 contributionsThe fortress houses very informative military items in a timeline fashion. You can spend a lot of time reading everything or just look at the picturres. It all depends on how much time you want to spend there. There are several buildings to see. - Nicholas F1 contributionMy wife and I were driving around Nordeste looking on Google Maps for stuff to do/look at. We both love nature and the environment and my wife had told me about this bird that is only found on Sao Miguel and really only near Nordeste. We decided to drive up and it was totally worth it. Our guide was super informed and engaging, he told us all about Priolo, the ecology and geology of the island, walked us through the history of the decline and rise and now conservation of Priolo. It was super interesting and I would suggest anyone to go. The staff was super nice and excited that we had were there and engaged with him. 100/10 experience.Written July 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - imunshiHouston, Texas38 contributionsDecent mall to spend time on a rainy evening. Stays open till 10 pm. Food court with the usual fast food options. Picked up shorts, T Shirt and leather shoes at good prices. TIP: Taxi stand is just outside the main entrance on the right.
