    Beautiful small reflecting pool with a fountain, located in Senate Park. Perfect for photography of Capitol building from this location.

    The Columbus Memorial Fountain sits in front of Union Station. The statue is interesting but not a "must-see". Supposedly a fountain, but no water flowing when I visited. The large bell sitting alongside the Columbus statue is what first captured my attention: apparently a replica of the Liberty Bell, but there is no explanation to confirm or explain the relevance of the bell in this place. All a bit strange.

    PROS
    * Scenic large fountain
    * Many sculpture pieces on their sides- it must mean something
    * In the middle of the park at the center of DuPont Circle

    CONS
    * Not a particular tourist attraction
    * No intrinsic tourist value
    * Surrounded by a separation barrier for to construction/reconstruction
    * Populated in part by people who stay there and in the area all day and all night - every day

    “I VISITED THIS PLACE”…
    … when I walked past it on my early Sunday morning jaunts from Cleveland Park to the kosher Krispy Kreme outlet, in order to get supplies for Sunday breakfast.

    Truth be told, and full disclosure – if not for my compulsion to review each and every possible “place” that I “visit,” I would have ignored this statue.

    My few photos of it can be found under and attached to my Dupont Circle review.

    ADVICES
    No, you don’t need to go out of your way to go and see this.
