- Cassie S30 contributionsThe Ford theater was fantastic. It had a great museum. It showed the gun that killed Lincoln and one of the pillows he died on. The theater part of the tour is great. Although you can really get close to where he got shot. The rooming house was good. But they don't have the original bed he died in. Overall, it's pretty good.Written March 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- montanapescadoAlbuquerque, NM1,316 contributionsI've attended concerts, opera, and theater at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Not only do they get outstanding shows, they are presented in a fine venue with interesting architecture and excellent acoustics. Transportation/parking can be tough, but it is within walking distance of a metro stop (for a healthy adult).Written February 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RonFGPotomac, MD1,096 contributionsFirst of all, this is a magnificant theatre--closest to Broadway that DC has. I've been coming here for >50 years--intimate and beautiful. We came for the "S & G Story"--great songs, but it was a glorified tribute band show. Very little story. Pales in comparison to "Jersey Boys", "Beautiful", & "Ain't Too Proud". Recommend the theatre, but not the show.Written February 1, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- jaseatonSilver Spring, MD2,630 contributionsWe went to see “Ham Net” in the Meade stage of Studio Theater. It was a fun mashup of Hamlet set in an African-American family’s barbecue and a gay comedy such as LamCage Aux Folles or the Canadian Film Corp’s Outrageous. This was my first time in the Meade stage — smaller of the two at Studio Theater. It’s a lovely venue with excellent acoustics.Written November 8, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Pattie in dcWashington DC, DC3 contributionsA group of us saw "Merrily We Roll Along" and really enjoyed it. Accessibility is very important for us (a group of seniors) and it's good at Keegan, as 4 or 5 of us were using walkers. We go with some regularity, and sometimes enjoy dinner afterwards at nearby Annie's Paramount Steak House -- see picture. The productions are always good, ushers are very helpful, etc etc. Highly recommend the Keegan.Written February 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Gwen AColorado Springs, CO56 contributionsSuch a gem!! This play was fantastic. Exciting, funny, thought provoking, real. I can't say enough. - jaseatonSilver Spring, MD2,630 contributionsBased on stellar reviews, we went to see Past Luves at the Avalon. The movie didn't live up to the advance notices for any of the four of us. But that's not the theater's faylt: The Avalin has been an indie/art film movie house on Connecticut Avenue for longer than I've lived in the area (since 1969) and there's a reason it's stayed alive; when they ran into financial hardship a few decades ago, the community swung in to the rescue, financing restoration work and turning it into a much-loved jewel in the neighborhood. A fine place to see films a bit off the beaten path.Written July 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - FlyerWashingtonDC1,492 contributionsThe Lincoln Theater is one of my favorite theaters in Washington DC, mainly because it is one of the least cramped auditoriums here.
So many of these old historic theaters jammed the seats in, which always make for an uncomfortable viewing experience over the course of two or three hours. That’s not the case here because even tall people have no problem with their knees. That also makes a difference when people are trying to get past you in the row.
The theater itself is not huge, so it’s a much more intimate experience. The slope down of the orchestra is totally sufficient so you are not blocked by other peoples’ heads. The acoustics are solid.
They also have plenty of bars and thankfully allow drinks into the theater. The bars are open throughout the performance, which does result in more people getting up than normal during a performance, but it’s a net benefit to have a relatively well stocked bar. Drinks are kind of what you expect at a theater, $4 for a water and $10 for a mixed drink.
The overall location of the theater is also pretty good because there are plenty of options for doing a dinner before the show.Written April 3, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was very interesting, and this time of year is very crowded. I liked the kids could go in and tour the aircraft. The area where the kids got to look at and learn about the planets was nice, but so crowded. The kids really didn't get much time at some exhibits because you had to move on... again the crowding. The kids loved the movies and the virtual experiences the most...which i thought were nice for adults as well. Just be forewarned, it's not exactly 'free'. The movies cost about $13 per person. The virtual experiences varied in price, but I think the least expensive was $8 per experience per person. Of course food and any keepsakes for the trip cost. We left the planetarium a good $200 lighter, not to mention finding and paying for parking. If you or your children are science lovers, you will like this experience.Written August 13, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - fredyt3Los Angeles, CA1,585 contributionsThe Howard Theatre was remodeled several years ago. For many years it was closed. The remodel brings back the luster to the LaDriot neighborhood in the Shaw district. The venue host many entertainment activities. During our visit we merely went by to see the progress.Written September 7, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jaseatonSilver Spring, MD2,630 contributionsThe four of us came to see Rossini's Zelmira (first US performance since 1837). The opera is sensational! But the auditorium, while satisfactory acoustically, is designed for agile midgets. The seats have less room than economy on Delta, and the line for the Men's room (forget the women's room) snakes for miles.Written April 5, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - andrew lMorrisville, PA164 contributionsIn DC for Valentine's Weekend; what a light-hearted show!
Unlike many Shakespeare performances set in old English, with similar costumes, this version was set in the hippie style of the 1970's. Oh, how perfect for us early baby-boomers - the music of our generation (and thank god I never dressed that way) that made a sleaze like Sir John Falstaff a sleaze thru the ages!
You all know the play, so instead let me mention how the actors / actresses at Folgers put on an excellent performance. Bravo & Huzzah!!Written February 26, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
