Inspirational...well run for the huge crowd of runners and spectators...traffic flow for spectators is difficult but logistically I can't see a way to improve on that. Runners expo is great too

It was amazing watching this event! The riders and their bikes were great! The blessings of the bikes at the National Cathedral was beautiful!

This is the second year I have done this event- and while I plan to return next year as well it just doesn't quite measure up to other events I have done....
Yes, there is music- but that is at other events as well- the route is fine- but only the first few of miles are around the monuments... the rest, while nice to see, is thru various neighborhoods and shopping districts- the last couple of miles for the half have no music- so the hardest part thru which to push has nothing- no aid stations either, although there was a medical tent, I think. This year the residents were out in fuller force (last year it rained) so that made it nicer- the whole area down Constitution was packed with people- and their dogs- I don't think I have ever seen so many dogs!
The finish line is perhaps the most disappointing - I guess there is supposed to be a 'concert' and 'party' but when I finished there was nothing.. a DJ at the actual finish line, then go thru the shoot to get your medal, a warm bottle of water, a cold mini chocolate milk, pretzels, a banana and a power bar- the warming blankets were at the end rather than the beginning- I have had WAY better 'treats' at the end of other races. As noted, I didn't wait around as I had about a 4 mile walk back to where my car was parked... I WILL do this event again because I signed up at the expo for $50, I DO like the medal, and my daughter and SIL live nearby- so I visit them and go- and it is always my BD weekend- but if you are specifically seeking out an awesome half or full, I am not sure this one is it...one other note- ALL the bands that played along the course were wonderful and as I was walking back to my car I passed a lot of people still coming in around mile 10 and the band there was sooo encouraging to them! Great spirit by all the bands and other support teams along the way- Toyota, Nike running club and many others-
I also didn't care for the expo this year- it was at the armory- which made entry difficult- there were lines to get in, even tho 3 doors were open, they had to search everyone's bags, couldn't take in my bottle of water, and had to be wanded- you had to go down two flights of stairs to the packet pickup area then up a different flight to get your shirt- and the expo itself seemed quite small and some vendors for which I was looking and are usually there were not... Toyota had a great setup and it was very fun going thru the cars and earning 'prizes' but the Brooks display last year was much better and more interactive. I don't like to appear to be a whiner but large events like this should be stunning and superior, not just ok or pale in comparison to 'smaller' more 'local' events in which I have participated.. again, tho, KUDOS to the bands and support on the streets-- if you are reading this, really, really appreciate all your energy! You just don't know how inspiring that is for a runner out there!

The Citi Open (aka Washington D.C. Open) offered quality players and matches and affordable parking. So much good and bad about this tournament that I will focus on the most important issues. The facility is very old and in need of renovations. Seating is generally good from any point, except the 2nd level lower rows views were obstructed by advertising banners. At one point we made a game of how soon fans would sit in the empty lower rows to immediately rise up to able to see player at south end baseline and then leave for better seats.

Mature landscaping and park provided an Intimate setting with various covered and uncovered seating areas with TVs to watch the matches. But no TV for the outside seating area at the main food court and many areas in disarray were not rearranged daily throughout the tournament.

Food quality varied from bad to good depending on the vendor and location of food purchase. The Choudin lounge was transporting food from a kitchen at another food location and therefore could be old and lukewarm. Whereas the food court and food trucks were good quality with nice selection, but the prices were high.

Event entry was adequately staff and fast entry using Apple digital wallet or printed tickets. I recommend budgeting time to enter as standard for any sporting event, at least 30 minutes from the offset parking using shuttle service to grounds entry and another 15 minutes to seats. Yet there were no ushers during the day sessions and people were sometimes hesitant on giving seats to ticket holder. I overheard several times of incidents where people seating other places because they seats were taken. I had to verbally state to one person that yes I did want to sit in my seat for them to remove themselves. This also meant there was movement throughout the matches to include even when ushers were present for the evening sessions.

I would only attend again after facility is renovated and/or return of the WTA to tournament. I'm hopeful that renovation plans are in the works with an owner change in 2019.

We went to see the Washington Kastles play at American University. It was a really fun night. It was really great for the kids in the crowd. If you have a child or are a big tennis fan this is a good night.

Took our grandson on opening day which was a surprise adventure for him. My husband and I were disappointed to see there are less and less cars featured every year. The price of $30 for the bounce was ridicules!!! Do you think parents are going to pay that amount for their kids? It use to be a good time but not anymore. I don’t know if we will be going next year.
