What travelers are saying
- JunBaguio, Philippines21 contributionsOne of the highlights of my trip to Davao City. Instead of taking a taxi or Grab, I decided to take a jeepney ride. Take a jeep to Calinan Transport Terminal and ride a van with label “CALINAN”. Travel time is approximately 1 hour. I asked the drover to drop me at Calinan Market and from there, I took a pedicab towards Philippine Eagle Center. My fare totaled to almost ₱300 instead of the ₱1,300++ if I took Grab.
Take time to observe the birds and be respectful of the surroundings (no noise is allowed, no littering, no scaring the animals, etc.). Try to leave some tip as well as this will go to the management of the center. Don’t forget to bring some insect repellant. Mosquitoes are everywhere!
The only thing that I didn’t like is the small enclosure of the majestic Philippine eagles. I wonder if they get depressed inside their very small and restrictive cages!
After my visit, I went out to the highway and hailed a pedicab and headed nearby Malagos Garden Resort (fare is ₱30).
From Malagos Resort, I went across the highway and took a pedicab towards Calinan. I asked the driver to drop me at “L300 or Taloda”. From there, just ride the van going to Roxas Night Market (just across Ateneo De Davao) for a sumptuous and cheap dinner.Written November 23, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Well kept and clean. The kids and animal lovers will enjoy this mini zoo.

- Mark IHounslow, UK182 contributionsThis was an amazing experience which I can highly recommend. We found it quite difficult to get to the place (Barangay Hall in Adecor).
You need to go to the barangay hall in Adecor where you pay the environmental tax of 50 pesos. and then take a banca to the pontoon which costs 1,000 pesos per boat round trip regardless of number of passengers.
After an orientation and life jackets and snorkel/mask fitted, you hold onto a buoy and pretty much you are taken round the area and enjoy the experience. IIRC this costs 250 pesos per person.Written March 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You have to pay additional 150 pesos to snorkel where the clams are (I really regret not doing it since i was scared because the waves were so huge - so i'm definitely coming back again.)
We just snorkeled near the seashore and it was still enjoyable.Written March 8, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It has a camping site, which is also best for team-building activities. There is also rappelling, canyoneering, horse back riding, swimming at the waterfalls, and many more. It is located in Barangay Cugman. It is accessible via car/cab or if you commute, you may ride a "habal-habal" (motorcycle) from the highway.Written December 23, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - auckhs2 contributionsA kind of place that stands out from the rest in Tacurong, Baras bird sanctuary extends kindness to the least and neglected of creation - birds! Here they find a home, paradise where they are cared and appreciated, admired and protected. Thanks to the kind owner, Rey Malana!Written July 26, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jessica ArceliLuzon, Philippines91 contributionsThis is a place for butterfly enthusiast. But I suggest that some improvements should be done to make the place more inviting.Written April 14, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Xander C31 contributionsThis is my first visit and I think Ill only comes back once the road going inside the resort is fix. Its a very rough road. I think because this area is a private lot before you can enter the main resort or its really underdeveloped? Anyhow, i enjoyed bird feeding and i supposed to swim in the pool but no space for me. Very small outdoor pool and the place is not that maintained. I wish they will improve it and renovate.Written November 5, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- eliedeiOzamis City, Philippines56 contributionsIf your one about dining right next to an ocean view enjoying the sea breeze and the sound of the waves crashing then this might be a good place for you. Aside from the food, you can try to go around their mini park which features a number of mammals, reptiles and birds r just walk around amongst the mangroves leading to the restaurant.
How to get here:
If you are coming from Ozamiz city, take a bus bound for Dipolog, Oroquieta, Jimenez or a Van and get off at the sign saying "MOAP" when you are passing Sinacaban.Written January 1, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AchikinsQuezon City, Philippines110 contributionsIt is a really long trek to the springs, even as the habal-habal bikes bring you as close as possible to the site. But it was worth it. The water is clean and fresh and really cold. It was so refreshing after a long afternoon of walking around Lake Sebu.
Be sure to wear aqua shoes as the spring is rocky and slippery. Would not advise you go into the water barefooted. The falls are low but really strong! If you have time and a trusted habal-habal ride, go for it and enjoy!Written November 6, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. If you are a customer of this affordable seafood outlet there is a concrete steps going down to the beach. It is not a private beach because it's open to the public on any day. If you happen to take your lunch here on a weekend you would notice scores of picnickers under the coconut palms and under the trees. Motorcycle riders usually converge here on Sundays doing some swimming and conversing about their adventures on their iron horses.
Since there are no resorts nearby I suggest you get a room at Sea Breeze budget hotel so you can use their shower rooms after dipping in the sea and rolling on the sandy beach.Although it is not white, the sand is powdery and stretches up to the airport area and toward the Bucana barrio in the boundary of Dapitan.
You may use the second floor of the restaurant to drink your beer in the afternoon. The use of the karaoke is free. If there are other tables being occupied, your singing session is limited up to three songs, then the mic would be passed on to the next table.
The bottom line is that you have a free beach and you could swim the whole day. No night swimming allowed since there is no light on the beach nor lifeguards since the hotel is not a resort. For Dipolognons, the Sicayab is the nearest public clean beach for weekend celebrations for free.Written November 6, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The road up is bumpy, but the reward when you arrive is amazing: comfortable temperature, amazing view and many huge spiders wherever you look! Funny enough I only find these black/yellow spiders in the cooler hills. Enjoy!Written March 20, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jkhsyap19Quezon City, Philippines80 contributionsCurrently they have relocated to a better place ( suggest government take out the old signage; first signage is the correct one ; second signage is the old one and not existing anymore ) and even during weekends they have signs and updates on what they have been researching and letting you understand why are we preserving them.
Wished we have some based government researchers who will request schools to visit. The governor of the town and the people surrounding the area were supporting this endeavor.
You may walk towards the little sari sari store ( little store selling snacks and drinks ) to get some refreshments .Written April 18, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
