Como Cathedral also known as Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta and is a Catholic cathedral, and is dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

It is known as the last Gothic cathedral built in Italy.

Construction began in 1396 , and did not finish until 1770.

Its a rather pretty churh with lovely sculptures on the facade and quite symetrical.

We walked around the gardens and took in the view out over the lake and saw a sea plane come in to land, despite the weather being a little gloomy it was still a beautiful site. We didn't get to go inside the Villa as it was closed but what we saw of the grounds was enough to warrant a visit.

Obviously not worth coming to Como just to visit here but as part of a larger tour it should be part of your itinary.

This basilica is definitely worth a visit. The inside has the most amazing apse. There are floor plaques of buried people as well as some glass enclosed figures.

Basilica di San Fedele is located at the former corn market in Como and is dedicated to the martyr Saint Fidelis.

The Lombard Romanesque church dates back to 1120.

The facade was rebuilt and restored in 1914 and the bell tower due to tilting was demolished in 1905 and replaced.

This church in Como is historic and worth visiting.

Really good historical centre for a small town making it more personable than other big cities. Old town areas.

Nice to see during the day and night, however night time does have better atmosphere with dining options and bars.

With Como being rather small if you are walking around you will definitely come across the historical centre.

The locals are rightly proud of their favourite son and this is a fabulous little building to commemmorate him. It's only a short stroll along the front to reach it. Sadly, despite their being tourists everywhere in Como this week, someone decided that you could enter by appointment only and that this required two days notice. Dissappointing to say the least. What were the local officials thinking?

Piazza Cavour is a very nice place to stop awhile & have a coffee or drink at one of the restaurants nearby. There are lovely views across the lake, it's spacious & airy & a lovely place to spend some time before making your way to the the ferry terminal to see one of the other beautiful towns along the shores of beautiful Lake Como.

The Broletto, or the medieval town hall, sits right beside Como's towering Duomo.

The Broletto was built in 1215, but shortened in 1477 to make room for the enlargements to the cathedral

The Broletto generally opens to the public only during special exhibitions.

The museum is built in what used to be a garage in the cellar of the technical college. This made it interesting to find the entrance. Anyway, we found it and paid the rather steep entry: €10 per head.
For this we got an audio guide and a map. We really needed the map! It's a labyrinth and the numbered rooms do not follow as expected.

If you like old machinery and history then this is a wonderful museum. Everything is described carefully, and you can get right up to e.g. the Jacquard weaving machine and see how it works. Exhibits are labelled in Italian and English. If you want to know more there is an extra button on the audio guide.

We spent more than an hour in there because it was fascinating. There is a small shop for silk products, but it was a bit disappointing.

We went to see the opera the Barber of Sivilia on the Teatro Social Como.
    It was lovely.
I advise you to check in the internet for shows in the theater. I tried to book online but I had problems with it.
We checked on the day of the show and there were tickets available (a private box).

We concentrated on the Late Bronze Age and Iron Age grave finds from Como's pre-Roman version SW of the current town. Don't miss this if you're into the period, but you'd better read some Italian because the English textual content is just a few laminated sheets of paper for all visitors to share.

The views are incredible, the service very average, the beach area dirty and the bathrooms extremely dirty and the they don'thave toilets in the bathrooms, they are holes. The staff looked annoyed when people asked questions. This place is very avaerage, I was expecting more for a place like Como.
