What travelers are saying
- KentishManOfKentTenterden, UK417 contributionsI recently visited Imola for the Grand Prix and i absolutely had to make a visit to the Ayrton Senna statue.
It's in a beautiful setting by a lovely park with amazing trees- on the inside of the circuit at the Tamburello corner.Written April 27, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is one of many such fortresses of similar design that can be found in Emilia Romagna. I especially enjoyed wandering through the maze if rooms and staircases in the fortress that eventually lead to wonderful views of Dozza and the surrounding countryside from the tower. If you are in the area, it is worth stopping for a visit. Other than the fortress, though, there isn’t all that much else to see in Dozza. So, if you are limited on time, I think La Rocca in Vignola May be a better choice.Written February 29, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KentishManOfKentTenterden, UK417 contributionsHaving watched F1 races from Imola since the 1980's, i had always wanted to visit Imola and i took my opportunity in 2022 and i am so glad i did.
I stayed in Bologna, as this has the nearest big airport and the trains take 20-34 mins from Bologna to Imola. From the station, it's a 25-30 minute walk to the track.
Imola itself is a lovely town and the circuit is just on the edge of the town in beautiful parklands.
My first stop once inside the circuit was to visit Ayrton Senna's statue. It's on the inside of the circuit close to the Tamburello corner where he lost his life on 1994. Having met him briefly myself, it was emotional and poignant.
I booked grandstand seats for the Rivazza corner for Friday and Tosa for Saturday, as i wasn't sure how much general access i would get. I shouldn't have worried as you can get to every corner except for the run from Tosa to Aqua Minerale.
As it was very rainy on Friday, it was obvious that the facilities were not up to scratch. The car parks were incredibly muddy, as were most of the paths around the track. It felt like Silverstone back in the 80's!
There was a very strange system they have when you buy a beer. You have to buy tokens at one tent, and then buy your beer with the tokens at another tent next door. Bonkers!
I'd recommend having a burger at the Cafe in the back of the grandstand on the main pit straight. It was fantastic!Written April 27, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 545medvaBudapest, Hungary3,972 contributionsIn the former cloister San Domenico there is this small museum. Very well placed, organised, very helpful people. Not oo much but it is still a very varied and good collection.Written September 6, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stanley M46 contributionsThis 'monument' to the renowned cyclist, barely merits the definition. It's hardly visible from the motorway, hidden by trees, and is tucked away in the grounds of a furniture company, Mercatone Uno.
Perhaps the inconspicuous location reflects the divided opinion of the local hero/villain who succumbed to drugs. In any case, a remarkable athlete.Written May 26, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KentishManOfKentTenterden, UK417 contributionsI was at the Grand Prix in Imola and found this park whilst walking around the track.

We thought it was modern, clever and made us remember how amazing Senna truly was. His passion, determination and pure grit we feel is rare to see these days. Senna was and still is one of the best motor racing drivers in history.
You are given a head set when you buy your tickets. You go upstairs and as soon as you walk in the headphones activate themselves and music starts playing.
Watching the multiple video scenes of Senna racing, talking and just being Senna was amazing. You are fully immersed in what for us was a wonderful if very sad experience.
There are also some of his cars, helmets and outfits in the museum.
It's not very big and doesn't take long to go round but it is certainly worth the money and the experience.Written October 28, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
