Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
Nestled in a prime location, Skiathos Palace Hotel delights many guests with its proximity to idyllic beaches and stunning scenic views, although its seclusion and numerous steps have been noted. While the hotel offers a diverse breakfast and a complimentary shuttle service, some visitors suggest a greater variety of fresh fruit and modern amenities like elevators. Despite varied room experiences and maintenance issues, cleanliness is consistently commended. The staff generally earns praise for their professionalism; however, there are occasional reports of less-than-stellar encounters. Unfortunately, some travelers question the value, citing steep prices that don't always align with the quality of service and amenities.

Mixed feelings about this hotel. I'll start with the negatives . The price for the upgraded rooms with sun loungers on the balcony is simply not worth it. The room size was disappointing, with the balcony area so small the loungers were pushed together at one end to accommodate a table and chairs . The balcony area was also shabby as all the wooden shutters ,table and chairs all required re sanding and staining /varnishing . Don't get me wrong it was nice to have but not worth the significant extra charged by TUI. I think there could be a little more choice of food at evening dinner and of better quality. I felt it was limited and a overall a bit mediocre. This contrasted with a much nicer lunch purchased at the pool side restaurant . Breakfasts were fine however. The outside dining areas are nice along with the waiter service for the drinks which sadly are a little overpriced. The pool area is lovely however as are the views from the hotel The nearby beaches are lovely but the pretty beach which had the hotels beach club required you to book in advance online a sunbed and proved to be a bit of a faff and off putting . Hotel staff by and large were friendly and courteous as were the maids who cleaned the rooms . The use of the mini bus for trips down to the public beaches and Skiathos Town was a much needed godsend. We had a lovely holiday but really expected a bit better for what we had paid

Hotel's Favorite
It's oh so nice to go travelling The lyrics of this song tell of wonderful places, London Paris Rome, the camel route to Iraq! But then - it's oh so very nice to come home. After more than three decades of visits that's what we think of the Skiathos Palace, a home from home without the headaches of owning one. When you are sitting in your own home reading this review take a moment to look around. Do you see that hedge you've been meaning to cut, or the bit of fading paint or peeling wallpaper or dust on the TV cabinet? Probably and yet probably not because the love of your home goes deeper than superficial niceties; you are content, not necessarily happy but content, you know the difference.  When you are trying to make a holiday destination decision keep those two things foremost in your mind. Are you looking for that elusive ephemeral emotion called happiness if so the Skiathos Palace may not be for you. Why do I say this? Well because there maybe too many obstacles in the way of you feeling happy.  For example the location, on a hill at the furthermost point from the main town. Yes, it's a hindrance but in exchange you have the most spectacular views of any Hotel and courtesy buses to take you up and down to the beaches or into town but you may find it unacceptable not to have lifts (elevators), as a result you may be unhappy?  I read people comment on having the same menu items every morning for breakfast but never state what else they would like? Incidentally the Ritz in London has the same breakfast choices each day for €70! Not far off what you paid each night for the Skiathos Palace Hotel, but you may not recognise what incredible value for money this is and be unhappy.  In summer the islands population rise from 6000 by a factor of 20! This can place pressure on the speed of service but if you also find this unacceptable in your four star idyll, it may make you unhappy. And so it goes on.  Enough already!! Let's speak to the seekers of contentment, the Lotus Eaters. They already understand Socrates when he said, " He who is not contented with what he has, would not be contented with what he would like to have". This explains why the Palace has such a huge percentage of people who, like us, come back year after year. We appreciate we are in an ancient, civilised culture with different views, opinions and values and the words "right away" are just words and not a call to action. Above all the Contenters appreciate the people who work there and greet them year after year by name and as long lost friends, ie for the friends that they truly are. But we Contenters make it a priority to know their names so let's hope you follow our example and become a Contenter and recognise that unless you are a restaurant or hotel critic the purpose of your holiday isn't to seek happiness from finding faults but find contentment for a few precious weeks. Yammas.

Had the greatest and most relaxing holiday in the Palace this September. We were afraid that due to the storms the hotel whole experience in the island wouldn't be that good. However everything seemed to be up and running. Hotel staff was great and service was good. Breakfast was nice with lots of fruits and pastry to choose from. Reception was honestly fantastic ! they had information about everything in the island, from what was operating to what was not and gave us great restaurant recommendations. Pool area was also nice with the pool bar having great views and the bar staff always being up for a chat. Overall a great experience and September a great month to visit cause the island -and hotel- is not overcrowded. We recommend !

Pool area and bar lovely with fantastic views. Was bit worried reading some of the negative reviews before we arrived, but tbh we were disappointed with our "executive" room. The bathroom was very tired shame it wasn't the same standard as the toilets behind the bar. We had amazing view off the balcony and that was the best part. Room was clean and young girl who looked after our room was lovely and she kept the room nice. Wouldn't call it executive though. Hope job it was only too sleep in. Maybe we expected too much. Staff round the bar were lovely and the views are amazing. Ate at the white restaurant 2 nights needs must re storms and the food was not good at all. Breakfast was just OK but overall we were disappointed by our experience. The bus was handy from stop 22 and we found some amazing places to eat off the tourist strip in the old town. The hotel beach was ok but surprised it cost us 20 euros for 2 beds? Toilets were disgusting 🫣 and we didn't go back for this reason. Hotel not for us but everyone is different I should have gone with my instinct before we went when I nearly tried to change hotel. The whole place just needs updating but the pool area and bar were lovely.

First of all it is a nice hotel, with very nice views of the sea, we had a seaview room which did exactly what is says on the tin. That's where the good ends!! We arrived about 21:00 and after we unpacked went to the bar for a drink and food, the pool bar had just stopped serving, and we told we had to go to the buffet (fair enough) the food we were presented with was nothing short of dreadful, just slop!! Flies buzzing on all the food, made us feel sick, and were charged 30 euro each for the pleasure!! We were on the B&B option so went for breakfast the next morning and presented with more slop, the fruit was mostly out of tins, there was kiwi bananas and apples fresh. The hot option looked disgusting scrambled egg looked like they had been there for an hour, and yet again the flies absolutely everywhere must of been 10 constantly on the bread, (I realise that flies are everywhere but there was no attempt to keep them off the food, with electric fly killers). Really disappointed with the food. Service in the pool area not great, asked for two coffee's still waiting, couldn't just go to bar and order, made you sit down and the came to you, not necessary. The location wasn't great, on bus stop 22 very little to walk to for food and drinks, was close to lovely beach. Town about 25mins on bus from harbour. and majority of the restaurant's and bars. Very disappointed after we paid nearly £1000 each

Had so much fun in the island this year and was hesitant to visit because of the storms, we are from mainland Greece and weren’t really impacted but saw what happened in Skiathos and were really afraid to come. However, everything was excellent. The hotel was 100% operational even when very busy because of a conference they had. Staff was attentive and looked after us all the time. This made us feel really special ! Food was good, views were excellent, drinks were ok. Had dinner on the white view which was really nice and had a big difference to the buffet. Barbecue night was also really good and the lamp + live Greek music was a must . Concluding, we didn’t wanna leave, honestly can’t really fault the hotel at anything! Thank you for everything

We have just returned from a really lovely week at the Skiathos Place Hotel overlooking Koukounaries Bay and the Hotel's own Beach Maratha. This was our fifth visit to the Skiathos Palace having got married on Maratha Beach in 2013. The week before we were due to arrive we saw on the BBC News the horrific coverage of the floods in Skiathos and Volos and also part of the mainland. In fact several friends and family had advised us not to go and to rebook somewhere else!! However, obviously we have extremely happy memories of Skiathos and had decided to go anyway - and we were not disappointed. We could not believe how hard the locals must have worked in the week prior to our holiday to get everything so clean and straight again - we would never have known there had been a problem. On the coach through the town we could not see many signs of the damage the week before. On arrival at the Skiathos Palace it was just as we had remembered it! The most important part of our holiday is to spend as much time as possible on Maratha Beach - the Beach which belongs to the Skiathos Palace. My sister who is a nurse had even strongly advised us against our swimming in the sea as she felt it could prove to be a health risk. However we both much prefer swimming in the sea to a pool. Imagine our delight on walking down to Maratha Beach and hearing the music from the Beach Bar lapping in time to a beautiful and clear Aegeon sea. Klitos, the Beach Bar Manager, and his amazing team had worked in torrential rain to ensure that the beach was perfect for holidaymakers within 48 hours! How did they do it?! The Hotel had to order new sun beds to be delivered as 70% had been swept away in the storms. Also most of the wooden umbrellas dug into the sand had also been destroyed!! Maratha Beach being open and back to normal totally made our holiday as that is where we want to spend our time when on Skiathos. The Skiathos Palace Hotel was as lovely ad ever and all the staff , without exception, were kind and welcoming.

Fantastic food, amazing sweets, excellent staff. We keep coming back in the Palace because it truly deserves it! We think it really has the best place in the island, close to everything while away from the loudness of the town. We will be back next year, mostly for that Mille feuille!

Really nice hotel, were here towards the end of September and likes the kind of quiet aesthetic of it. Was super busy at times but seemed quiet at the same time. Its a hotel around 20 mins out of town and thats what makes it different from others. Also the plantations and trees that mixwd with the hotels made it more natural and human

First of all, the view is breathtaking. The hotel is gorgeous. I have been very pleased with the staff. Everyone is great and treats us like a family. Bar staff and reception were always great and with a smile on their face. Only downside is the uphill walking and stairs. I would come back again
