Schitterend plaatsje aan de Omo-rivier, typisch, rustig, mooie natuur prachtige vogels gezien, niet ver van de Karo tribe, zeker de moeite deze te bezoeken.Vriendelijke mensen met leuke traditionele dansen
With its unrivaled location, Murulle lodge is has by far the best location and expertise to explore the lower Omo Valley tribes. The rooms are clean and safe with a very good kitchen and restaurant staffed by the local Kara and Hamar people. The meal is great given its remote location.
I don't expect luxury in a remote area such as this but I do expect a modicum of cleaniness especially the bathroom. Rooms loaded with insects, no screens on beds (if they can be called that). Thin board which formed bed narrower than foam pad serving as mattress. Bathroom floor filthy. Showerhead in middle of bathroom. Sink (in not only my room) leaked at multiple sites so that anything that went down flowed right back over feet. No hot water. Owner needs to redo plumbing from scratch. Only positive is that the roof didn't leak during rainstorms.
Hi Ì have been two times at Murulle lodge, which has a tyipical extravagnat room in the area. The best thing is its location, acces to the Karo tribes known for thier body painted with white chalk. and there is a stage to show thier performances, boys surround and perform stage show that I consider like edited by the hoteliers. not typical of the oroginal culture. The accomodation doesnot look Omo valley. There are good quality hotels nearby,
The website for this lodge is very misleading. Unfortunately there are few places to stay in this area other than self-camping. Perhaps this was a nice place many years ago but the current owner does not maintain it. Accommodations are in bungalows in a shaded area along the river. There is a big troop of monkeys in the trees so keep your things locked up at night as they like to run through camp. There is a small dining room which simple meals available but I suggest you bring food with you. The bungalows are dirty with rattan shades falling off the outside of the windows. My bungalow had a family of insects building nests in the bathroom. A couple of monitor-type lizards made their home in the space between the ceiling and the roof. Several guests had only brown water coming out of the sink and shower tap. One bathroom flooded. Electricity available only a few hours a day. No fans in the rooms which made it near impossible to sleep at night (we even tried putting on wet t-shirts to get some evaporative cooling). Sheets and towels look like rags. The staff tries to do a good job but just cannot overcome the poor condition of the facilities. For this the owner wants $300 a night! If I were paying $10 a night, I might understand it, but at the current rates the owner is committing robbery. I would like to attach photos.…
