Really beautiful setting on the island and very helpful people working there... however, we stayed in the room which is very over-priced for what you get - it's very basic and just a bed in the room and a couple of chairs and table in the other room. It became very tedious to keep asking for water, so it would be good to have a better system installed so that there is plentiful water (which comes from the lake anyway, so there's lots of it!), some improvement to the toilets and maybe some cupboard space in the room. For that, you could probably charge $20-30 not the $40-50 which it is at the moment!

We stayed at Cyuza Island for two nights with our two children. We opted to stay in a tent right at the lake with view on the volcano. It is really a beautiful place and the guys looking after us, really gave their very best. It's all very basic, but isn't that what one wants from a stay on an island!? I would advise to take some food along as one can order from the restaurant and have it delivered but as that's quite the logistical undertaking one can never be sure when this will be. Otherwise we more than enjoyed and if pure relaxation is what you are looking after, this is the place for you!

Staying at Cyuza Island is really peaceful. First of all the journey to the Island, that is already a nice experience, via bus/taxi and boat. You can arrange the transport by yourself or for example with help of La Paillotte restaurant in Musanze (just show up there and arrange your stay). The moment you arrive at the island, you immediately feel the need to do nothing but relax :-) We stayed in one of their tents, just at the waterfront without anybody around us just birds and a really nice view. There is no electricity, which gives really a feeling of remoteness. We took even a bath in the lake, really nice (because there where no showers (yet)). We enjoyed the nature and having diner with Bela and Saluse who are running this place. They are passionate about their vision/work because the want to provide an affordable place to stay for tourist and at the same time let the local community benefit from it. So they employ local people and give them training on the job. We would stay again at this place!

Visit the island with friends for a night. The island is in Lake Burera, about 30 mins drive from Musanze town and takes another 20 minutes by boat to the island. Ile De Cyuza is a wonder place to relax, in a very peaceful and quiet environment. It is located just at the base of Mount Muhabura. The view of the mountain is really wonderful. There are quite a number of tents and we were provided with nice and cozy tents. They were just close to the lake and we enjoyed the sounds of frogs at night and the birds in the morning. We were taken good care by the caretaker Mr. Saluse and his co-workers. Saluse is nice guy and whatever was asked, was fulfilled right on time. We had requested him to get us chicken, his friend got us a live chicken.. And the meat tasted great. I must say, the service overall was excellent. There are full of vegetables grown around the island and we were allowed to pluck some of the greens and Pili pili for our salad. Thanks... Would love to be there again.. and very soon. Hopefully the cucumbers by that time will be ready to eat. The only not so pleasant were the toilets which can be improved. There are only two eco toilets and no place for shower, unless you get into the lake to take a bath. We suggest Bela the owner to build a few more toilets around the campsite and also shower facilities. The 4 star rating I am giving is for the toilets. Hoping to see improvements next time we visit. Thanks a lot Bela and Saluse for your excellent service. We really had a wonderful time.
