Detailed Reviews
John & Amy were fantastic hosts, they were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The room was modern, spacious and very clean, the bathroom again was a good size and thoroughly clean. We were advised to wear face coverings and sanitise before entering the property which made us feel safe. Breakfast was superb, it wasn't your standard cheap and greasy fry up the quality was high, again it was distanced from others to make you feel safe. The location of the B&B was great, only a 5 minute walk down to the town centre and we had on site parking both at the front and the back of the B&B. Genuinely the nicest stay we've experienced, fantastic value for money and we would definitely return.

We booked with John and Amy on Booking.com and i m so glad we did, rather than using one of the chained hotels. The reviews of their service go along way and we had a lovely relaxed break from start to finish. We arrived early after a 5 hour drive and got a text when driving down to say our room was ready which was nice. When we arrived John welcomed us in, sorted the room keys and explained service, all covid secure. We were helped to our room and left to refresh ourselves.
The rooms in the b&b are a good size and have all the bits required for a stay away and benefit from en-suite. The beds are very comfy for a good nights sleep and the whole venue very clean. We were given times due to covid that suited us for breakfast and the food on offer was plentiful and we could have ordered anything without no hassle or hesitation from the hosts. The quality and quantity of food was excellent and fresh tea and coffee always on offer.
The view from the front of the hotel is superb with views of Newquay beach and sea views, when booking we were offered free parking too, which with location is a massive bonus.
Without any hesitation when we next visit Cornwall, we will rebook Geckos Rest and would recommend anyone looking for a goodnights sleep and fabulous location to book this B&B and experience it for yourselves.
You never get the attention to detail from a chained hotel and the little things go along way.

Amy and John are very welcoming and made us feel at home at the Gecko’s Rest, we were asked to wear face masks in all the communal areas of the B&B and extra hand Sanitiser was available, the breakfast was lovely with lots of choice and once finished everything was refreshed with the table and chairs being sanitised ready for the next guests. There is also an honesty fridge with snacks and drinks at really reasonable prices.
The rooms are faultless, super clean and well equipped with everything you might need for your stay.
The town is a 5 minute walk away so really close.
We look forward to booking again 😃

After being disappointed, as many by not getting abroad this year I booked a 3 night stay at the Geckos rest in Newquay Cornwall. I chose a sea view room for my partner Simon and I and hoped for a break to remember. Wow! I could not have been happier. The Geckos rest deserves the 4* rating and hosts Amy and John could not have been more welcoming and helpful. The room was beautifully clean and well presented, the sea view was almost panoramic. The breakfast was perfect. The Geckos rest is a very short walk to the town centre, and offers lots of little extras, such as an honesty fridge and lending book and dvd library (tv in room has DVD player) Our stay was truly relaxing! We will be returning.

Me, my partner, daughter and her boyfriend stayed here for 6 nights from the 7th July 2021. John and Amy are wonderful hosts and nothing was too much trouble.
The rooms were absolutely spotless with everything you needed. John even gave me a bag full of decaff Teabags which was greatly appreciated.
The guys were able to dry their soaking wet trainers in a specified place to dry them out after a day costeering and would have been able to do the same with wetsuits too rather than keeping them in the room had they not hired them for the day.
The property is really central for both the town centre and Fistral Beach. Parking on site which is always a big plus.
The breakfast was amazing, so much choice and so tasty.
Will definitely return and can't recommend highly enough.

What a fabulous find! This lovely little b&b is situated a stones throw from the centre of town and was the perfect location for a three night stay. We had their smallest room which did not feel small, it was plenty spacious and had an extremely comfortable king size bed. The room was well stocked with tea and toiletries, perfectly clean and had fresh white linens.
John and Amy were wonderful hosts, very welcoming and had clearly thought through social distancing measures in this strange time. They also gave us some useful tips to make the most of our trip and clearly take an interest in all of their guests. Breakfast was fab with a wide range of both hot and cold options. I’m glad we managed to get a room here and would happily come back without a second thought.

A return visit to Newquay and booked Geckos Rest again (last visited 4 yrs ago) with confidence that we would have a great stay - and it didn't disappoint.
Amy & John are the perfect hosts and strive to make sure you are well catered for, nothing is too much trouble. Super clean rooms and fantastic breakfasts, slight adjustments introduced to allow for adequate social distancing due to current covid situation but very well managed and no apprehensions what-so-ever.
A great central location and comfortable walking distance to all areas of Newquay and with on site parking there's no need to use you car unless you want a trip out somewhere further afield.
Perfect all round and would definitely recommend.

Yet another great stay with perfect hosts Amy & John. Faultlessly clean & comfortable with fantastic breakfasts to set you up for the day. Very flexible and accommodating, nothing is too much trouble plus the bonus of having on-site parking means no parking worries if you're off out for the day.
Great central location for exploring Newquay, John is very knowledgeable and happily suggests nearby things to do and places to eat & drink.
Well deserved credit to you both after a great returning break to Newquay, see you again soon!

The room we had on the top floor was at the front of the building and had fabulous sea views. The only downside to this was the loud road noise which continued until around 11pm when the traffic started to become less busy. We had a fridge and the usual tea and coffee making facilities, and fresh milk was available for free from the fridge in the breakfast room. Although we didn't make use of it ourselves, it is possible to use the dining room for takeaways and the proprietors are happy for people to use crockery and cutlery for this. The town centre was a quick downhill walk so location is excellent, but if you have mobility problems beware that the walk back up the hill is quite steep. The breakfasts were very good with tasty hot food. John displayed magnificent skills of memorising our different breakfast items each morning for the 3 people in our party! Continental options not available, just small cereal boxes. Parking was good either at the front or rear of the property, just beware of the very narrow lane to drive around the back! We very much enjoyed our stay.

Comfy clean rooms, good food, friendly hosts who were relaxed about us taking food back of an evening (eg take away fish and chips) which we were able to enjoy in the breakfast room. John and Amy ensured we had everything we needed for a most happy 3 nights stay in their home. Thank you much appreciated. John has a fun sense of humour too 😂
