The Hotel Astoria Restaurant was recently renovated and is found in a central location in Pompei around 200m away from the railway station and from the Santuario, 300m away from the southern entrance to the excavations. This location makes it the ideal place from which to explore the city of Pompei rich in history and culture with its famous excavations, the Amphitheatre and the Foro, and is also convenient for reaching the cities of Naples, Sorrento, Amalfi, Positano, Capri, Ischia, Paestum, Mount Vesuvio and several other cultural and tourist sights. The parking lot can be accessed directly from the hotel, and is one of the many conveniences appreciated by our guests. Our staff are always available to provide a shuttle service from the hotel to the main sights in the area.

On first impressions this little hotel does not jump out as impressive, but this opinion quickly changed to 'fantastic'!! First of all lets be clear, this is not a luxurious hotel and does not set out to be, but the super cleanliness, beautifully washed and starched linens, the super firm bed, which I just love, and the efficient and kind hosts certainly made up for this. The breakfast was abundant and beautifully laid out and more than enough to get you started for the day. When we got back to our room at the end of the day the room was just sparkling and neat as a pin, including all of our belongings beautifully hung or laid out. It is also in a fantastic location. I am so looking forward to coming back and spending at least a week here - thank you Hotel Astoria!

This hotel was perfect for myself and my husband. It was in the centre of the town and very convenient for all our plans. It is easy to travel around this area, and the hotel was close to the railway / bus station and to the port. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and this suited us well. The hotel would provide an evening meal on request, but because of its location, we could eat in a different restaurant every evening . There was no swimming pool, but they did have a sun terrace where there were sun beds and a plunge pool and showers . The sister hotel was a short walk away and the swimming pool facilities could be used if required. The room was very clean and perfectly adequate, with a lovely little balcony overlooking the garden. The minibar was well stocked and not expensive. The garden courtyard was well kept and a lovely place to sit in the evening. There was an outdoor bar and tables to sit at for the evening meal ( booked in advance). The staff were very friendly and helpful.

This hotel is in a nice location for exploring amalfi coast an pompeii scavi. This is a nice location if you have a car, also they have a spacious parking. Staff was very friendly but they were a bit nosy. Bed was a bit hard, towels were beautiful but not flufy. Delicious breakfast, but it would be better to have a buffet where we would get only what we can eat, because there were leftovers. No lifts.

Great location, close to entrance to Pompeii ruins with plenty of restaurants & bars to choose from. Room was clean and comfortable (especially the bed) - and inexpensive. Owner (Renato) was extremely pleasant and helpful, offering advice on different places to eat (budget through to expensive) and places to visit when we weren't going to the ruins - we went to Sorrento by train and he drove us to and from the station with no charge. Breakfast was completely adequate, consisting of croissant, cake, yoghurt, fruit juice, fresh fruit served on a tray, plus tea/coffee, bread and cereal if you wanted. Only downside was the air conditioning as mentioned in other reviews - it is on a central control and was off most of the time. Overall a good place to stay at a reasonable price - we would be happy to stay there again.

Booked this hotel last minute as we were fleeing from a terrible place claiming to be on the amalfi coast. It claimed to have free parking + air conditioning. We arrived and the owner claimed not to have our booking and i waited at least 15 mins while he logged on to check. We then got our keys and were sent to our room. The wifi was limited and kept dropping in and out. The air con was apparently on a centralised system and shut itself off whenever the room reached a certain temperature which in itself seems ridiculous and budget. Also, this particular hotel required us to hand our keys into reception every time we left the hotel. #strange We decided as were not at all enjoying ourselves to cut the stay short by a night and head up to rome early after seeing the Pompeii ruins. When we told the manager (picture an evil version of Bilbo Baggins) he turned quite cold and unpleasant. He said he woulf charge us for the final night even though we werent staying and when we went downstairs on the final morning he said "Leaving at 11?" to which we replied that as we were paying for the night we would leave whenever we felt like it to which he stammered okay and ran back behind his pathetic desk. We returned from the ruins and he had actually locked the front main door of the hotel!!!!!!!!! And of course due to their outdated key handing in rules meant we had to wait outside. This is a budget hotel that is obviously run by a man child. Dont bother. There are plenty of other hotels in Pompeii which im sure would be better.

Place is nicely located, close to all the attractions and good dining places. Staff is super friendly, place seems to be family-run so you see same people doing everything around, from reception to baking for next day's breakfast. It is not really fancy, but clean and very comfortable. Ask for advice regarding attractions, we used their tips with great success (dining places, how to get to the crater on city bus, how to get to great ice cream :-). Large private parking lot at the back, gated off at night. No elevator, if that's important to you. Make sure to let them know if you want air conditioning to stay on all night (a little quirk). We loved it there and if we go to Pompeii again it will be our place to stay again.

We wanted a hotel close th the train station and Pompeii sites. That is what we got. The rooms were clean and large. Breakfast was a tray each with warm crossaint, peach, juice, cake and hot drink. There was cereal and bread if you wanted. More than adequate. The man on reception was very nice and more than helpful, giving us water and fruit while we waited for our room, we were early and got our rooms early.the woman was very sour but the man more than made up for her. Hotel was just what we needed and for the money good value.

Our stay kicked off to a great start, the male hotel owner came to pick us up from the bus stop which would have easily taken us half an hour to walk. We went into reception while he parked the car where we found the hotel dog left unattended. DO NOT approach the dog it is aggressive and there was no sign to warn of this. The barking then beckoned the female hotelier over and she proceeded to be extremely rude and grumpy. When we got to the room it stunk of stale smoke and there was no sign of the balcony with city views that we were promised. You are unable to control the air con yourself (unless you want to pay 2 euros an hour) and this meant this room was unbearably hot at night. I feel bad for writing such a negative review as the male owner was very kind to give us a lift and we found him extremely pleasant. Wish we could say the same for the female owner.

The only thing good about this place is that it's clean! They don't offer food like it says. There's air con here which your not allowed to use unless they say you can. The noise is ridiculous in this place. No sound proof windows. Terrible nights sleep. The lady & boy that works here are very obnoxious, don't get me started on the "breakfast". We had 1 warm croissant, piece of cake, shrivelled up piece of fruit & a cup of tea! Not exactly the best way to start your day. Avoid this place like the plague!!

This is a family run business. The room was really large and the children had their own beds, which is wonderful considering most places they have to share a bed and complain profusely. The place was the cleanest accomodation I have ever stayed in. Truly immaculate. We had access to wi-fi. Breakfast was good, we had choice of juice, cereal, each got a large tasty croissant and we had a cappuccino. There was also a bowl of fruit. We were able to leave our car in the secure car park and walk to the ruins, and they kindly lent us umbrellas due to a light rain. The gentleman there speaks English and they were very helpful with directions and advice, recommending some fun things to do on the way and at Salerno, which we did, and loved. I agree with a previous review, if you want luxury, pay for it, if you want a clean, quiet hotel with a massive room, for an awesome price in a great location, choose this hotel. There is also a small supermarket just a few steps from the front door.
