Absolutely LOVED the Relais degli Angeli! This boutique hotel, situated within the walls of the medieval city of Siena, was once a palace, and is in an optimal location. It is quaint, meticulously clean, and our room was spacious. Their tiny elevator accommodated my husband and I, one medium luggage, one roll-on carryon, and two bags. The staff - Federica, Giullia, Petra - could not have been kinder, more accommodating, more helpful or more efficient. Their recommendations to restaurants, neighboring towns, and wineries were superb. They know how to read their guests. There was nothing lacking at this boutique hotel. Our room was the Ametista (Amethyst) and came with everything needed. This room overlooked the town center and on Saturday and Sunday morning, we watched from our window the military parade. Breakfast included pastries, fruits, scrambled eggs, bacon, various coffee and a quaint indoor room or a terrace where guests would breakfast. Teas were available around the clock. Each floor had a private reading, lounge room decorated in a sort of Italian motif. We used their valet service for excursions to wineries and neighboring towns. We would call reception 20 minutes in advance of taking car out and returning, and they would call the valet service (a separate service). My husband travels frequently for business and is somewhat of a hotel snob so I was surprised, previous to arriving, to have read some not so great reviews. Our five-night stay at the Relais Degli Angeli was our home base while in Siena and helped make our Siena trip a memorable one. THIS IS THE PLACE TO STAY! …
