The Olissippo Lapa Palace is celebrated for its sophisticated ambiance, complete with a live piano bar and elegant dining that many guests find regal. While travelers' opinions on value are split, with some questioning room quality relative to price, the hotel's spacious rooms generally earn praise for their elegance. Guests extol the professional service and spotless cleanliness, especially in the bathrooms. Despite some concerns about maintenance and the hotel's distance from the city center, the lush gardens, gym, and tranquil pools are popular features, as is the hotel's proximity to Lapa's historic charm.

A wonderful hotel in a beautiful location on top one of Lisbon's seven hills. the rooms are well appointed and the staff are excellent. The dining in the restaurant is exquisite. There are many varied and reasonably priced restaurants within walking distance and the convention centre is a 30 minute walk or quicker on the 15E tram. If we ever return to Lisbon we know where to stay.

What a hotel! Such a beautiful place to stay. The hotel is spectacular. The gardens are well kept and amazing. There is an indoor and outdoor pool. All the staff are so accommodating and friendly. The choice of food available is first class. Our room was overlooking the grounds and outdoor pool. There is also a stream running through the garden. The room, bathroom etc were so clean and tidy. The location is away from the city centre, which suited us fine. If a taxi was called it only took a few minutes to arrive and about 5-10 minutes later we were in the city centre for a minimal fee. Lisbon is a beautiful city but the fact the hotel was superb too enabled us to have a magical break.

Imagine a real hotel- no a chain, not a bargain- this is the place to stay. It feels elegant from the moment you pull into their circular drive. The staff is formally attired, the lobby strikingly sophisticated, the front desk staff helpful and friendly. The rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished, the housekeeping service impeccable and the bathroom better than home. The brunch was outrageously good- there were so many choices.. Service in the Dining Room is top notch with the attention to detail obvious. The only problem is that the hotel is so wonderful it can be hard to leave to go sightseeing.

Truely a luxurious hotel. The hotel and grounds were beautiful. Service was spectacular and the breakfast buffet was sensational. After a long flight from the US, two days at the Olissippo Lapa Palace was a perfect way to transition before boarding our cruise ship in Lisbon.

Excellent staff and service. Highly recommend and hope to visit again. The staff quickly learns your name and are exceedingly friendly, accommodating and helpful. The property is gorgeous and is a quick Uber ride to places by the water. Several restaurants are within walking distance and the menu in the hotel restaurant and lounge are lovely.

There are some hotels which exude understated luxury, enhanced by first class service: this is one such a hotel. From the warm, friendly welcome at reception to the final goodbye, staff at this hotel understand how to charm their guests. On our second visit, we arrived early for an overnight pre- cruise stay only. It always feels like a treat when an hotel has taken note of the early check-in request, and, not only accedes to that request that offers an upgrade (as LHW members). Early check in is always particularly welcome after a very early flight. Our suite, as requested, had a view of the river Tagus, was traditionally, beautifully appointed, spacious and immaculately clean. We enjoyed a lazy lunch by the pool and good, busy, breakfast buffet before our departure. The hotel is not suited to those who like clean lines or modern decor, it is furnished and decorated in traditional Portuguese style and all the more charming for being so. But what makes the hotel special is the service - never obsequious, always attentive. An hotel which truly delivers. My only negative observation relates to a conversation between staff members, overheard at the pool bar There were only a few tables occupied for lunch and the waiters stood at the bar chatting in English, no doubt their only common language. One of them was swearing loudly and repeatedly. I would not expect to hear these conversations and would certainly not expect to hear this sort of language, however old fashioned that might make me sound. I anticipate that as they were not speaking their native tongue, they not appreciate did the adverse impact of the words that they were using and we excused them accordingly, but the hotel might want to be aware of this issue.

This Hotel is old school regal. This was our 2nd stay and just as enjoyable. The rooms are large with beautiful marble bathrooms, a sitting area and coffee and tea makings. We swam in the large outdoor pool and in the beautiful indoor pool plus sauna and dressing rooms and lockers. The piano bar was lovely to sit in for a cocktail, the dining room was elegant and the breakfast more than one can imagine! Not anything to improve on this fine Hotel.

Phenomenal hotel in Lisbon. Quiet neighborhood, but walking distance to great restaurants and short Uber ride to anywhere in city. Staff is professional and welcoming and get "unstuffy" when we got to know them. Nicest hotel we have ever stayed at with combination of amazing service, room decor, helpfulness from concierge to front desk to waiters to housekeeping. Very top notch and we have stayed all over the U.S. and world west of the Orient. As is common with hotel restaurants, there's is pricey but have highest quality of food and service. especially liked the bar lounge for lunch, relaxation, and after dinner entertainment and cocktails. Say hi to Oscar, the piano player from his new friend Alan from Chicago. What a Pro and gentleman. Just a very classy place as a base for experiencing the enchanting city of Lisbon.

This was our final stop in Portugal after staying in Duoro Valley, Porto, and Algarve, and of all the 5 star hotels, this was our least favorite, which was surprising given it came highly recommended from family and the great reviews. Perhaps our experience was unique (or the hotel has gone downhill since our family members stayed there). Upon check-in, the receptionist noted that our reservation was for a room with two twins (vs a double bed). We booked through our Chase Sapphire card so not sure how that happened (we certainly did not request it) but she said she would see what they could do to get us a double bed given the hotel was near capacity. It was very kind for her to offer us drinks while we waited, and after about 30 min, she informed us a room was available where they could push the two twin beds together. We were fine with that and quickly put our stuff in the room and went off to explore Lisbon. When we returned, we noticed our room, which was on the lowest level (and the area by our room) had a very musky/stale/dank smell. We were in a hurry to leave previously so may have not noticed it. In addition to the very unpleasant smell, the beds seemed very old and uncomfortable, and the water that came out of the bathroom faucet was brown! I realize the palace likely has a lot of history but it felt as if this room hadn't been touched since King Ferdinand was in power! It was fairly late so when I called the front desk, they said there weren't any rooms available but we could check back in the morning. We somehow managed to fall asleep despite the smell and hard beds. In the morning, I checked with the front desk and they were able to move us to a different room in the "newer wing". When I inquired about the smell and if they had noticed it themselves, they said that room was in the "wing that isn't used as much." What does that mean? Well, when we checked into our new room, we understood why. The "newer wing" rooms were significantly better and you could tell had been more recently renovated. Why would you offer guests a room that is significantly inferior? I would have preferred the nicer room with twin beds! The rooms in the "older wing", at least the one we were initially offered, certainly do not meet the bar for a 5 star hotel, and should not be offered to any guests, and certainly not guests who are paying the same rate as guests in the "newer wing." Despite our complaints, they never apologized for the initial room (or acknowledged the smell) or offered any type of compensation for the poor experience. Finally, putting the room issue aside, compared to the other 5 star hotels we stayed at, the service, accommodations and breakfast buffets were far superior at the other hotels, which were around the same price. P.S. - there is a grumpy concierge fellow who couldn't stop telling us negative things about Pena Palace and how it wasn't worth visiting (even though I told him we already purchased tickets). It turned out to be a wonderful experience, so don't listen to him!

Dear Delilah_SF, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback about your stay at our hotel. We sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered, and we appreciate your honesty. It's disheartening to hear that your experience fell short of your expectations. We apologize for the initial room assignment and the discomfort you encountered in the "older wing." We understand your concerns about the discrepancy between the two wings. This is certainly not the level of service we aim to provide, and we will review our room assignment processes to ensure that all guests have a comfortable and pleasant stay. We also apologize for the lack of compensation or acknowledgment regarding the issues you faced. We will review our procedures to address such situations more effectively in the future. Regarding your interactions with the concierge, we will address this matter internally to ensure that our staff provides unbiased and accurate information to our guests. We appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve our service, and we hope you may consider giving us another opportunity to provide you with a better experience in the future. Until then, we wish tou the very best, Susana Gerardo Guest relations
