Never again, queued for 5 mins to get served, initially 1 serving, then another staff member opened up another till 2 queues formed, as I was next in line staff member moved to other queue to join other staff member to serve people that joined the queue after me. I began to think I had my invisibility cloak on. Walked out Never to return.

First off, get the elephant in the room out of the way, it’s a Wetherspoons so don’t expect high class cuisine. It was expensive at £90 for a double without breakfast but we chose it for location (almost next door to the wedding venue we were attending) so just bit the bullet. Superb, friendly staff made us feel very welcome. Nice, spotlessly clean, comfy room with decent facilities and beds that were soooooooo comfy. Heating was pants though but I stay in dozens of hotels every year and in my experience, heating/air con is always poor no matter how much you pay. Breakfast on both days was very tasty but food was never hot; even at ‘spoons prices, this isn’t a good thing especially when you order Eggs Benedict - cold poached eggs in Hollandaise sauce …… hmm. Also, “sorry but the toaster is broken” isn’t good enough, a company the size of JD Wetherspoons should be able to resolve this almost instantly. So no toast on Saturday and sort of warm muffins on Sunday. By no means a disastrous stay and I’d definitely return but JD Wetherspoons need to acknowledge that this isn’t an inner city dosshole but a nice town which deserves better. …

This has to be one of the nicest weatherspoons we've been in, clean and tidy, the staff were relaxed and friendly and the breakfast was beautifully cooked and HOT ( something a lot of spoons seem unable to manage) will definitely recommend and will certainly be popping back in for a bite to eat. Well done to the staff of The Queens Head you made our visit enjoyable and memorable 👍

The hotel was clean and the room (205) was spacious. The lady we met checking us in was very friendly. However, I didn’t get a wink of sleep as the bed was so hard and uncomfortable. As soon as I sat on it, I knew it was going to be a terrible night. As soon as I got home, absolutely exhausted, I went to bed. I wish hotels would stop buying cheap nasty beds and realise that people pay good money to stay at their establishments. It’s horrible to be uncomfortable and achy the next day. We won’t be back.

We always love visiting this hotel and we feel its one of the best wetherspoons pubs we have visited the staff are all lovely, are only gripe was we had room 107 we went up in lift but we went around circles trying to find the room we feel there needs to be a bit more signage to direct you to the room, We look forward to visiting again in the future

Chose to stop here overnight following a walk from Okehampton to Plymouth via Tavistock. There wasn't much choice of accommodation to choose from in the area. Always wanted to try a spoons hotel! We were really impressed ! The room was really nice. The staff were all the friendliest we have experienced in a wetherspoons. It was a busy Saturday night and after a 22 mile hike, we had some dinner before checking in. The staff were all working so hard and smiling enjoying themselves. The lady that checked us in was so friendly. The room had an iron and ironing board, coffee/tea, biscuits, TV, large walk in shower, nice soaps and bodywash. It was much better than a premier inn. Will certainly return and stay again. It felt cosy. The bed was huge. The room was so clean. When we checked out the cleaning lady asked us if everything was OK and seemed like she genuinely cared. …

After spending 2 nights here the head office tried on 2 occasions to surcharge us £100. On enquiry I was told it was for smoking in the room..both my husband and I are non smokers, with myself having NEVER smoked. I was told the 'evidence' was found by the cleaners ( after being asked by the 'manager') to look for evidence of smoking. Apparently they found cannabis on the carpet !!! I'm 56 and stayed in many hotels in my time and always leave it clean and tidy. I'll never use this company again and I'd advise if you do , take photos and get a drug swab on leaving! Appallingly managed , how dare they convict us in our absence and with no foundation . PAY AN EXTRA £20 AND STAY SOMEWHERE / ANYWHERE ELSE.

Nice clean rooms although getting a bit worn, especially the bathroom. Quite a climb to the room but there is a lift. Rooms are well equipped. There is no hotel desk as such, you have to get a staff member from the bar to check you in. Slept very well on the comfortable bed. Park in the street which is free from 5pm until 10am. The food and drink here is cheap and plenty of dining space.

Popped in here on a cycle ride from Sourton Cross to Plymbridge, both on the way down & way back. Had a nice couple of pints whilst charging up the mobile and bike battery. One of the better Wetherspoons I've visited and would pop in here again
