We reserved this hotel for a nice stay on the Island. It is well-located and has a stunning view. the garden is very nice. The room we had was situated underground. It was damp and had an odd smell. The bathroom was super-cramped. A shower of 70cmx70cm is just too small, even if you're lean as I am. Given the price of the room that was not at all up to expectations. We requested another room but the owner did not think there was a problem nor wanted to help us. The rules in this place are odd too. - We had a big terrace in front but were not allowed to have food on the premises. We did bring some from our travel and it was infested with super tiny ants the next morning (in the room!). - Though the hotel has very few guests and their was nobody while we were there the rules stipulate you have to where a bonnet in the pool (really?) and can't play with a ball or anything. It's not really big enough to swim either, so it's just for relaxing I guess. - You have to order your breakfast the day before and stipulate what you beforehand. We left after the first night as we had slept very badly and found the room and the ridiculous rules unacceptable. Though the owner was going to be there at 9AM, We left around 9h30 without seeing him.

My partner and me stayed in this beautyful and relaxing place for one week. Located a short drive up the hill next to Porto Azzuro you can relax and calm down right away after busy days at the beach. The room we stayed in had a wonderful view over the sea, was clean and relatively new renovated. As the resort has 7 rooms only the chance is very high to have an amazing „private“ dinner on the terrace with a delicious fish 4 course menu I can highly recommend. Breakfast freshly served with your choice of eggs, coffee, fruits etc. It covers all wishes for sure. Overall - we definitely will come back! Thank you for the very nice Stau we enjoyed very much! Nothing to complain! The room was clean and beautiful. We also had a large terrace for relaxing evenings. The pool area was clean and well campt, with a nice view on the harbor. All together the site was very well maintained. Breakfast was amazing. Both the staff and the owner were very attentive, they took care of all the little things. The location was quiet and well situated. By car it takes you around 5 minutes to Porto Azzuro, by feet about 25 minutes. Though, at night we would not recommend going by feet. We would in any case recommend a car.

We recently spent a wonderful 2 nights at Casa degli Ulivi. Hosts Alberto and Claudia couldn't have been kinder or more helpful. We had the balcony room with absolutely magical views over the harbour and hills beyond. Porto Azzurro is a great, buzzy little port in the evenings, and the B and B was a calm and aesthetic retreat after days out exploring the island. We loved the whole feel of the place. Dinner on the airy, panoramic terrace on our first night, cooked by Omar, was a creative delight with plenty of local produce and seafood to introduce us to the best of Elba's cuisine. Breakfasts were lovely too, and our room was tastefully and comfortably furnished. We'd recommend the place very highly.

We arrived in a storm. Not easy to find the place. It's not realy a 'resort'' more a small haven of tranquility. Definitely not within walking or bus distance from Porto Azurro but who cares when you can have a 4course meal prepared by Homer. His sense of taste and aesthetic was totally brilliant. The best food I have tasted in a long time. The room was lovely with a big window looking over the bay, it was just great to relax by the pool and in the garden then go out on trips to the multitude of beaches on this wonderful island. We moved on to Tuscany and it was full of Americans, I loved the fact that ELBA seemed to be off the map for most Brits and Americans.

Whilst the pretty township of Porto Azzuro was thick with tourists and activity, Casa degli Ulivi was a quiet retreat just a short walk up the hill from the harbour. We had the pool view suite which has a kitchen but opted for their breakfast served on the terrace. We are very glad we did as the food coming out of the kitchen was extraordinary. The humble scrambled eggs were served with a flair and taste that is a notch above the usual. The other fare including the fruit salad, fruit tart and apple cake were equally appealing and cooked fresh on the property. After an underwhelming restaurant experience in town, we opted to dine on the property on our second night. A good decision as the quality of the dishes trumped anything we subsequently found elsewhere. We dined there again on our last night. Omar the chef is a gem as is the owner Alberto who plied us with stories and interesting conversation during our stay. Add in lovely pool and garden setting, and the ingredients are all there for a great stay.

Facts about us: Couple without kids (start 30s). One Italian / one Danish. We love glamorous camping, we enjoy pools and beaches! Pros about Casa degli Ulivi: 〰 Very calm and welcoming host. He pays interest in his clients, he helps with recommendations and is just very nice. 〰 The breakfast was not just a "brioche" but you could choose from a lot of things (not a buffet). Everything seemed fresh and the view you have while eating... Is amazing! 〰 We loved that he had sun panels (strange, we know). 〰 The location: The most stunning view over the sea. 〰 The room was okay/standard. Nothing fancy but absolutely not bad! We got the room which is a bit isolated from the other rooms with our own little garden-ish - that was awesome! Porto Azzurro (the city) - 👍🏻: 〰 For us one of the most beautiful towns on Elba (and we did visit a couple e.g. Marcena and Marina de Campo). 〰 You can bike and you can swim in the neighborhood! 〰 Many cute shops, restaurants and the habour is worth visiting especially in the evenings. 〰 Most of tripadvisor's good reviews of restaurants are actually in Porto Azzurro and we have to agree with that! Cons (a very small one) - 👎🏻: 〰 The location - you can't really walk down to Porto Azzurro. We did it once but the walk home was (Google map's suggestion) straight uphill without any light after midnight... The Danish girl (me) felt unsafe like hell. Yeah, the location was also a good thing so all in all we really loved staying here!

A lovely stay tucked away in porto azzuro. It's more like a relaxed residence, with beautiful views, lush gardens, comfortable rooms and great food. The host Alberto is warm and engaging and provides all the amenities you could want, including food with ingredients straight from the garden. The upstairs terrace is lovely and the property is a short walk from Porto Azzuro (uphill coming back though). I would recommend this place for a secluded getaway in beautiful Elba.

We really enjoyed our four days in the gorgeous grounds and lush gardens at Degli Ulivi. With a great pool with views over harbour at Porto Azzurro and the vista is complete. Our very welcoming hosts Alberto and Claudia run the resort with a small team of helpers. It's very much a family concern, indeed they say they are not hoteliers so it's more like being welcomed into the family holiday home. We had dinner with other guests on our first night, a wonderful 4 course seafood delight - with vegetables from the Eco resort garden, olive oil from its trees and wine from its small vineyard, true provenance and 0km eating. As we were celebrating our anniversay we were upgraded to the Suite room, small but with a great terrace overlooking the pool. It's fun to play 'find the bathroom' I won't ruin the surprise if you get this room! Claudia also presented us with a lovely bottle of prosecco - a great touch. Breakfast was a treat - taken by the pool (when not raining) lovely brioche and jams, cold meats, cheese and a huge bowl of fruit Not like a hotel but your home when on holiday. Very relaxing with wonderful helpful hosts. Highly recommend if you come to this beautiful island with so much more to offer than the legend behind Napoleons one year exile.
