I had stay at this hotel for few day, the hotel is great, city is wonderful, people are amazing, helpful, and so friendly, I loved the food there, room is very nice and clean, staff are so professional, everyone is smiling and hurry to help you all the time. I do recommend this hotel for all travellers. And I do advise that you should visit Rwanda.

Review The Urban by City Blue is a very nice boutique hotel conveniently located in a quiet area near city centre. Consistent with other reviews, I found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very nice with a diverse menu; all reasonably priced. My room was large and spotlessly clean (although the carpet is due for replacement). Overall, the hotel presents good value. There were a few items that taken alone would have been unremarkable, but multiple issues start to add up and the following are worth mention. The lift is out of order (and appears to have been so for some time); the lounge was closed for most of my stay; the internet (wifi in my room) was unstable (and unusable for last 2-days and f my stay); the air conditioning in my room was very poor; and, only 2-channels on my TV were working (although I wasn’t here to watch TV). The hotel does offer airport shuttle service. It is good, but not free. Local taxi may be cheaper.

The front desk team is really nice, very well trained. The rooms are spacious, the bed was comfortable but the carpet was stained and the wifi was not stable. The hot water was not turned on in my room so I had none - the person checking me in should have told me to switch on the geyser in the bathroom. The location is very convenient.

Spent a few days at Urbancity. The location is decent and staff were friendly; my room was huge but lacked practical options like plugs points near the bed. Beyond that the hotel was very noisy at times (like having to get out of bed and ask guests to be quiet at 2am kind of noisy). Breakfast was pretty basic; though coffees were good. Generally the hotel was problematic - Wi-Fi was sporadic at best and the lift was out of order. For a hotel charging premium rates around CHOGM it was distinctly average I am afraid.

Urban CityBlue is an average accommodation. Rooms are clean and functional. The breakfast can improve. There is not much choice with breakfast, which becomes a problem if you stay for a couple of days. I had some good meals with dinner.

The hotel was easy to find, clean, comfortable, well-designed, and very accommodating of some irregular travel plans and unique requests. I would also add that we were very impressed by the restaurant, which is much better than it's TripAdvisor rating as well as the sky lounge with a great view of Kigali.

Recently stayed here after a visit to Kenya. This hotel was quaint, and we stayed in the main building (and in fact did not realize that their were "Garden" rooms until our last day there. It is in a great neighborhood, and very easily walkable to a local mall in the City Center, about a mile away (but ready your legs for some monster hills!). The staff is very friendly and helpful. We had rooms on the main/2nd floor which was fine. The rooms are VERY BIG, ample with space. I enjoyed my partial view of the hills from the balcony. The bed slept comfortably. The only issue that we had was (something that the hotel could not really control, but did respond to) that there were some very noisy neighbors adjacent to the building who were having a very loud party with very loud music. Anyone on the side of the building where we stayed would have heard it, regardless of what floor you were on. The restaurant offered spectacular views, and is open air - we routinely asked for the plastic/canvas drapes to be opened so that we had fresh air. There is construction happening on a new hotel right behind the hotel - which will obscure some views from the rooms, but not the restaurant. The breakfast selection was ample. Made to order eggs were available, and the fruit was fresh and delicious. If you are a fan of tea, I urge you to try their lemon ginger tea, which comes already sweetened with honey. If visiting Rwanda again, I certainly would stay at this hotel.

I traveled and worked in Rwanda for over 1 year... it is an amazing country that really struggles to create value from its limited resources. Still the "beast" forces that created and participated at the genocide are trying to influence the development of the country, but it's very superficial and in the actual context is a pretty low impact. I am Romanian, so have no political interest, but what Kagame did for the country is unique in the world. What can you enjoy in Kigali: the walking distances between different sites (if by car, usually all is 15-20 minutes distance) , the fresh air and the landscapes (hills and valleys with amazing morning and sunset views, perfect for yoga or meditation practitioners), the multiple cuisines restaurants (from Japanese, to Lebanese, Indian, Chinese, French, German and of course Rwandan food. Budgets between 3.5 USD to 20 USD/meal/person. City Blue hotel was my choice at the beginning of my RW experience... recommendation - the rooms from the main building (bigger, nicer); the rooftop restaurant has a nice view; try the beefsteak very good and soft and a good red wine. Usually you receive B&B offer so you go for it as breakfast is OK. The main food areas are the centre (here I recommend you German Butchery where you have the option on suckling pig every first Saturday of the month, after 5 pm) and Kimihurura (fancy restaurants with good and fresh food). You shoul experience the African coffee, African Tea and Spicy Tea served at Bourbon Cafe, or the espresso from Question Cafe - Rw coffee is in top 3 best coffee in the world. The RW tea as well is on the top of the quality. You can spend few days doing the already well-known Gorilla Trekking (1500 USD - I didn't do it as was above my budget), Nyungwe Forrest (amazing tea plantations, green forests, monkeys, the rope bridge experience), Akagera Park Safari (a Park under development with very kind and skillful guides - you have to be at the reception at about 7.00 am and be ready for a 4-6 h trip), Muhazi lake with a couple of reasonable restaurants serving fresh tilapia, the Last King's Palace from Nyanza (2 h distance from Kigali), Genocide Memorial (a must see for the history lovers and people that want to understand what happened in 1994 and the outstanding performance of the actual transformation of Rwanda), Hotel Mille Collines (the real place of Hotel Rwanda movie - the actual movie was filmed in South Africa - the real hotel is looking better than the movie). You can walk in full security day and night - I had never problems or never been afraid in Rwanda. Transport by cab (you negotiate the price), by motorcycle (the most common taxing in Rwanda - also negotiate) or even by bicycle (the cheapest and most difficult in a country with 1000 hills). If you rent by month an apartment or a house, for good conditions (serviced facilities) you can reasonably spend between 800 and 1500 USD. Don't forget to have with you the vaccination book (in Rwanda is not asked, but in case you need to visit other countries around, some of them asks for it). Malaria is still present in local people life, but if you take minimum precautions you will have no problem - the test for malaria is available in clinics and hospitals and costs about 6 USD and result is ready in 20 minutes. Also the pharmacies have the pills in case - in case of contracting it , in 3 days maximum you are back on your feet . I truly and warmly recommend you Rwanda... it's my favorite country and if I will decide to relocate myself in Africa, it's my first choice
