Nestled on the iconic Copacabana beach, Hilton Rio de Janeiro Copacabana is lauded for its breathtaking views and prime location. Reviewers have commended the clean, modern accommodations with comfortable beds, though some mention the decor could use a refresh. While the hotel's amenities, including exceptional pools and rooftop vistas, receive high marks, guests have noted that noise can be an issue in rooms. The hotel's service is often praised for the staff's friendliness and efficiency, although there are occasional mentions of housekeeping delays.

My wife and I spent 3 nights here starting 23rd Feb as part of a cruise and stay holiday. 2 outstanding features for us were the location and staff. Situated towards the top end of Copacabana beach the hotel offers superb views of the iconic sweeping beach . Great restaurants just outside the hotel to the left and easy access to the many bars / restaurants literally on the beach . Wellington in particular on reception was extremely helpful , friendly and efficient, as was Kathryne in breakfast and 4th floor poolside restaurant/ bar. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel .

Wonderful location! Great staff all around especially at breakfast and Alex in front desk. A stone away from Copacabana beach and 20 min walk from Ipanema! All site's to visit can be taking care from the hotel. The hotel itself needs a bit of TLC apart from that great .

A property that Hilton needs to close and restart with new staff and amenities. Very rude staff. The hotel does not comply with offered booking service when it comes to early and late check in and out (booked through corporate booking system). The staff is very fluent in all languages and act like they do not understand English. Had to use google translate the entire time, yet outside everyone else had a basic understanding of English. Property was very rundown. Air conditioning did not work. Set the room temp to 18c (lowest possible). The room never went below 22C. Wait staff very rude and never checks in on how things were. I had to chase the staff down just to get the bill. The staff was more worried about their personal conversations. As said in other reviews, pan handles and people selling stuff accosted the guests while the door staff ignored it. Prostitutes work in the lobby and outside the location while security looks the other way.

Dear guest Thank you for your time providing us with your evaluation, we appreciate your detailed review. We are terribly sorry to learn we were unable to fulfill your expectations, please accept our sincere apologies. Front Desk, Food & Beverage, Security and Engineering managers were notified about described issues and asked to take immediate actions to rectify our staff attitude. Customer service is of paramount importance in a Hilton Hotel and we are really sad to learn we did not offer a service up to Hilton standards, we will work this issues. Regarding early check in and late check out, Hilton Copacabana is very flexible when those requests come, but our high season is not over yet and we cannot guarantee we would be able to confirm it in all cases. Your detailed evaluation gives us the opportunity to fix our weak points and we are very grateful for your honest review. We will keep at your entire disposal for further clarification. Kind regards,

So I'll admit having previously stayed at Hilton Hotels across the globe I was excited for our 4 night stay after some more dubious accommodations in the weeks prior. The good stuff first - it's in a great location across from the famous beach, great views, lovely staff with a good English level, quick check in etc. the foyer is large and comfortable with fruited cold water available 24/7. The room was spacious (sea view) and the bed was very comfortable with nice pillows. There is a kettle with some tea/coffee supplies and powdered milk as well as 2 disposable cups. Aircon was great and very quiet so we slept very well. Room - no robes (which is odd for the Hilton) and no hairdryer (had to ask for it which is not ideal when you have had a shower and your hair is wet). There was mould on the roof and part of the walls which i guess is from the humidity. Personally I don't like the idea of sleeping with mould above my head.l especially not at a Hilton. On the first day they did not replace the disposable cups so I had to call for more. An hour later I went downstairs to ask again... no glasses in the room either. There is a mini bar but here is no price list anywhere. You have to scan a QR code for info about the hotel but it is not listed here either. Pool - two pools one on level 4 and one on the roof. The latter only has a small space for lounges so it's always full. It's a pain to get to having to change lofts twice so I didn't bother the second time when I arrived and there was no space. Level 4 pool is nice but the whole area could do with a pressure washer it is pretty old looking. Lots of beds but again you have to time it so you can also get some shade. The staff are great and keep it tidy. Breakfast - first day was a Sunday and the options were limited. Not even a toaster available. The next day there was a full Spread with all the options. Food was great and the staff were lovely working hard to keep things going (lots of dirty people touching food with their hands and putting it back) but money cannot buy you manners I guess. Great sea views if you can get a seat near the windows. Room Service was quick and tasty as well. Overall I think that when it opened it was probably a really lovely hotel but it is looking a bit old and tired and could do with a freshen up in places. I think that a Hilton should have robes on the room and glasses as well as ceramic coffee cups. Of all the Hiltons Oli have stayed at I would rank this at the bottom. Overall a pleasant stay with lovely staff in a great location.

Dear Guest Thank you very much for your time and your feedback. We are sorry to learn we were unable to fulfill your expectations during your stay at Hilton Copacabana, please accept our apologies. Our Housekeeping team was notified about no hair dryer and robes, mould and delay in replacing disposable paper cups (and bringing glass cups). Minibar prices are shown in a printed menu, our Minibar Service was also notified about this issue. On the other hand, we are glad our teams made you feel at home, providing good service in our privileged location. Renovations plans are still to be approved by Hilton HQ and rescheduled, after being delayed in 2020 due to Covid pandemic. We are eager to have it done, which will be a huge improvement to our guests` experience. We will keep at your entire disposal for further clarification. Kind regards,

I have seen some appalling reviews of this hotel to which I cannot relate. My experience was of a well provided and serviced modern comfortable room, helpful staff and good facilities. The location is superb for cafe's and bars as well as the beach. If minor criticism I have it would concern the slow service at reception and the downstairs bar. Overall, a lovely hotel.

Dear Guest Thank you so much for your time providing us with your review. We appreciate your kind words and we are glad to learn we were able to provide a good experience. High season makes our operation at Front Desk very challenging, we apologize for waiting time at Front Desk. Despite our efforts, at peak times, queues are almost inevitable, but we work as hard (and fast) as we can. We hope to welcome you back soon! Kind regards,

This hotel absolutely sucks! Picked it based on star rating but obviously most of the good posts must be sponsored or paid off. Horrific customer service. No response for hours or ignored entirely, good luck getting requests fulfilled. Dirty and outdated, housekeeping does an awful job. The food breakfast and rooms service tastes horrible. Only plus is its next to the beach, even then there's trash and loitering right outside anyway. I'd rather camp on the beach, honestly that's y those people are probably out there instead of staying here. Sadly this can be said of most of the Hilton brand. I usually just move on, but Hilton has been consistently bad so I had to say something . Hilton Copacabana is my last nail in the Hilton coffin. I will pay quadruple or stay home before staying in a Hilton hotel again.

What a surreal experience this venue was. Firstly there is nothing whatsoever about it which would suggest that it is a 5 Star hotel. This is at max a 3 Star. I have had far better experiences in 3 Star hotels than in this establishment. Upon arrival just before entering the desperately in need of a clean revolving door, a most obnoxious grumpy looking female gave me the look similar to that as if she had just looked under her shoe to discover that she had trodden in some animal faeces. I have never had this obnoxious behaviour at any other Hilton previously. Seconds later after passing through the 1970s style revolving door another employee gave his own look of disgust and disdain complementing his female colleague's. The very busy check-in desk which is far too small to accommodate the number of guests and requests that the establishment is likely to deal with. After surviving this experience and having the breakfast times and location unnecessarily repeated several times the next experience were the lifts which were just around the corner form the reception. Upon entering the lift and using the keycard to reach the correct floor, another three guests then entered and had difficulty in using their keycards to access their separate rooms. The North American guests explained that they were not at all impressed with the hotel and would think again before using the Hilton brand outside of North America. They were not happy that as each of them were staying on different floors, their keycards would only work for their own floors and any guest communal areas causing more discontent. The room located just next to the lifts was like something from a timewarp. The windows probably had not seen any evidence of cleaning in a very long time. As time went on slamming doors from other rooms could be heard along with the constant opening of the lift doors and the differing volumes of conversations from persons exiting the lifts. If you want to show someone under 32 what hotels used to be like this is probably ideal for a historical tour. We are now in 2024 however the lack of available power outlets was poor. Only two located on the opposite side of the room from the bed were available. Bedside was an alarm clock and phone which belonged in a museum along with a filthy lamp that looked well past it's best days. No power sockets next to the bed for any laptop / phone / electrical gadget charging. We are no longer in 1984 where very few power outlets would have been needed. And then we move onto 1999 style internet service. Welcome to the equivalent of 1999 style dial-up. The extremely poor wifi was abysmal and for a 5Star hotel this should not be the case. The wifi was constantly dropping out and was the slowest experienced in any lodging accommodation anywhere in the last decade. The pillows and mattress also felt extremely well worn with likely years' worth of service accommodating guests. If you want 5 Star DO NOT COME HERE. This seems to be some large grotty building that just happens to have the Hilton name attached. The Hilton's own website offer digital key checkin and extra points in their promotion. This is a complete joke as you cannot check in digitally here as passports have to be checked at reception and then you have to collect the keycard relic which obviously restricts your movements around the establishment. Further accommodations in the coming months and years will very likely not have the Hilton brand considered when booking.

Dear Guest First of all, thank you for your time providing this detailed report. We are deeply sorry to learn we were unable to fulfill your expectations during your stay at Hilton Copacabana. Please accept our most sincere apologies. Our renovations plan had to be postponed in 2020 due to Covid pandemic, Hilton HQ is still to approve a new schedule for this much needed refurbishment and we are anxious to have it done, once it will allow us to provide a richer and more satisfactory experience to our guests. High season is always a challenge in Rio, Hilton Copacabana team always look for ways to improve efficiency in peak hours, however we do understand lines and waiting time will occur, despite all our efforts. Your comments generated notifications to Engineering Team, Housekeeping and Front Desk (lack of power outlets/soundproof insulation, old furniture/facilities, service). We are very sorry we were unable to make you feel welcomed and taken care of, this is not typical of our hotel, especially Front Desk, used to work fast and being accommodating at same time. Key cards are programmed to give access to guest's room floor and social areas, as a Security Protocol. Whenever families or groups (friends, co-workers, colleagues) inform us multiple floors access is needed, we are able to program our key cards to work as necessary. Digital key is a feature offered by Hilton in several countries, but due to local regulations, hotels in Brazil cannot implement this service, unfortunately. We appreciate your honest and long review, which gives us the opportunity to rethink our strategies and look for ways to improve services, facilities and procedures, aiming for the best for our guests. We will keep at your entire disposal for further clarification. Kind regards,

If you’ve decided to go all the way to Rio, chances are Copacabana Beach will be one of your highlights.. So it makes sense to stay in a hotel right on the beach, so right where the action is. The Hilton has all the brand values of this established international chain - friendly, courteous staff, well appointed rooms, great breakfast and an efficient concierge service. All in all a great base to savour the many pleasures of this wonderful city.
